About a century ago, a lady was asked to leave her home after the death of herhusband, in a village called Neyyoor in South India. With a heavy heart and fadingdreams she left home holding her two-year-old son in one hand and a bag in theother. She approached the Medical Missionaries from London Missionary Societyat Neyyoor. They offered her an opportunity to pursue training in nursing and alsotook care of her son. This one act of God's love and providence not only restored alady and her child, but also a generation that followed to witness God's faithfulness.Most of her descendants chose to serve God in response to what He has done.
As the great-grandson of this lady, my parents - who are God-given gifts in my life,told me this story. My father, who is my mentor, introduced TLM to me when I was12 years old, through two devotional books written by Eddie Askew (the formergeneral director of The Leprosy Mission), that mentioned TLM is one of the very fewMissions in India that has not lost its vision. My mother is caring and a strictdisciplinarian. I'm surprised many of the principles she taught me from the Bibleyears back, are strong fundamental management principles today! She spendsmost of her time on her knees praying for us and others.
Life was difficult when I was struck with failures after failures during my earlyadulthood. Unable to pursue my childhood career-dream, I felt humiliated. I wasstruck by loneliness and betrayals which made my life miserable. This was the timeI understood myself and God in a much better way. Even though I'd committedmyself to work in Missions, at one point in time, all the Mission organisations Iapproached rejected me. It was during this crucial period that I'd to take a toughdecision - whether to accept the readily available offers for job abroad, or to stayback in India with a Mission (which seemed, didn't require me). Prayerfully, Iaccepted the second, and that made a difference. TLM family embraced me and I'malways grateful to God and TLM for that.
My wife, Mercy, is presently working as a Paediatrician at Christian MedicalCollege, Vellore. We're blessed with a one-year-old son, Daniel Wellesley. In thewalk of life and death, we look forward with greater hope. We strive to achieve whatwe're designed for by our Maker. His presence is always there to cheer us andguide us!

• Helping Cathrine's husband join office after six months of sickness.

• Mr Abhijit Banerjee for recovery from painful stasis ulcer.
• Comfort and peace of bereaved families of Dr Md Hossain and Dr Rekha Agarwal. Dr Hossain lost his mother on 10th September and Dr Rekha Agarwal lost her father on 25th September.

• The Research Symposium planned for November 3. That it will prove to be a success, increase TLM’s visibility and improve the situation in leprosy research in the country.
• The first meeting of the LRI-funded ‘Early Detection Project’. That the project is started well and that we get good staff for the locations in West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and UP.
NOVEMBER 4, Wednesday But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

• Orientation on leprosy for village health workers of Bagmundi block, on November 4 and 11.
• Awareness programme on stigma and discrimination for District Police administration in various villages/blocks of Purulia district.
• A committed physiotherapist.
• Medical officers in the next two months as some of them would be leaving the hospital.
• Healing of patients suffering from complications of leprosy.
• Healing of Monica Murmu as she continues her treatment at CMC, Vellore.
• Manisha who has joined as staff nurse, that she woul adjust well to the work in the Mission.

• TLM Barabanki, Faizabad and Shahdara hospitals who are sending their doctors, physiotherapists and shoe-technicians once in three months for serving at the Snehalaya and training the Snehalaya staff.

• All the residents of the Snehalaya for their good health, especially those who are old and not able to walk.
• Success of the free medical camps planned in the month of November.
• The appeal sent to the Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand for financial assistance to fulfil the needs of the Snehalaya.

• The successful RCS camp conducted from October12 to 15 by Dr Jerry Joshua – Rajendran and Anthonisamy underwent flap surgery; four patients had undergone hand surgery.
• Five physiotherapy students from VELS College of physiotherapy, who underwent leprosy training for 15 days.

PSALM 136:26 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT Praise God for:
The new Hospital Management System (HMS) planned to be introduced in 2015. This will replace the current system which is being used for the past eight years. It will have major improvements in reporting, accuracy in stock keeping, overall reliability and other features that are much needed.
Pray for:
• Users to easily learn to use the new system and use it effectively.
• Co-operation of the staff in making a smooth transition.
• Smooth operation of hospitals during the change-over to the new software.
• Complete co-operation from Aavanor during this process.
• Success of this project. Several challenges are being faced. Pray that God grants wisdom to those making important decisions for this project.
• Good co-ordination between Health domain and IT and Finance departments.
• Safe travel of TLM core team and SocIT implementation teams to all hospitals during the implementation.
• Successful testing of the software at Shahdara hospital in December.
• Successful implementation in other centres from January 2016.

• Successful completion of 10 months of this year and blessing most of the staff with good health.
• The two organic farming training programmes for DPO leaders and disabled persons of Melghat area on September 29 and 30, and also on October 12 and 13, by which 48 people participated.
• The PHCO machine that has been installed and is being used for surgeries. Pray that many needy patients would be benefited through this.
• The donation of Rs 13, 00,000 received from the Golden Jubilee Foundation of LIC for a VFT machine for the ophthalmic department. This machine will be used for testing of Glaucoma. Pray that this facility benefits needy people.
Pray for:
• A second ophthalmologist for the hospital.
• The government to release the grant and canal compensation (claim) in time.
• The business plans made by the hospital, that the entire target would be met in time.

• Successful nursing assessment through Mrs Purna Kumar (Nursing Co-coordinator) from October 10 to14.
• Successful visits of guests from TLM E&W.
• Visit of State Leprosy Officer, Chhattisgarh, Dr Jayprakash at the hospital for screening before disbursement of NGO grant to the hospital.
• Recovery of Mr Kamlesh, suffering from poisoning and Mrs Anita, suffering from ulcer.
• Successful participation of Annual Country Learning workshop, Admin and Finance workshop and Fundraising workshop in Delhi.

• Successfully conducting Prevention of Impairment and Disability (POID) medical camp at Orathur Village, Cuddalore District, where medical self-care kits were distributed to 50 people affected by leprosy.
Pray for:
• Travel mercies for staff and God’s protection to staff and their families during the rainy season.
• Registration of people-owned producer company.
• God’s guidance in implementing the project plans and in the selecting the beneficiaries for livelihood support for 2015.

• The renovation work of the wards as per the recommendations of access audit team.
• The visit of Dr Arthur Thiessen’s (former Superintendent of TLM Champa) daughters to Champa. Pray that they spread the work of the Mission among their community.
Pray for:
• Success of the health camp planned on November 26. Pray that more patients attend the camp and get benefitted.
• God’s providence for a rest-room for patients’ relatives. Local municipal authorities have agreed to provide one, but due to land issues, it is delayed.

• Three days’ training on ‘Accessibility for DPO Leaders’ organised by CBM Bangalore at TLM Kothara from September 21 to23. 25 leaders who attended from different parts of India, were benefited.
