ReadingShare the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff with your child. Talk about the different characters and encourage your child to join in with the words and make up some actions too. Repeat regularly until you child is familiar with the story.

SpellingUse these words to support your child’s learning of words and using their phonics to read and spell. Practise them as often as you can.

Red Words

These are words that children need to learn by sight. Point to each word randomly saying it initially and asking your child to repeat it until they become familiar with it. Once they are becoming more confident, ask them to say the word without your help.

Green Words

Ask your child to use their phonics to sound out each letter and then say the word (blend the word).

Phase 2 Sentence building cards. What sentences can you make? Can you write the sentences? Remember a capital letter at the start of your sentence, finger spaces and a full stop at the end of your sentence.
