Beginn der Wahlperiode 2024–2029 legt

das Europäische Parlament dem

Europäischen Rat gemäß Artikel 14 Absatz

2 des Vertrags über die Europäische Union

einen Vorschlag für ein ständiges

Verfahren für die Aufteilung der Sitze

zwischen den Mitgliedstaaten vor.

Die Zahl der Mitglieder des Europäischen

Parlaments, die in jedem Mitgliedstaat

gewählt werden, wird ab 2024 auf der

Grundlage einer festen Formel ermittelt.

Dabei werden zunächst 6 Sitze pro

Mitgliedstaat vergeben. Maximal 90

weitere Sitze pro Mitgliedstaat werden

anschließend durch eine D’Hondt-

Verteilung der übrigen Sitze, basierend

auf den in Artikel 2 genannten

EUROSTAT-Berechnungen der

Wohnbevölkerung jedes Mitgliedstaats an

einem festgelegten Stichtag (n-3=2021)

vor den Europawahlen, verteilt; soweit ein

Mitgliedstaat dabei weniger Sitze erhält

als bei der vorausgegangenen Wahl wird

der Verlust auf maximal einen Sitz

begrenzt und dabei gleichzeitig den in

Artikel 14 (2) des Vertrags über die

Europäische Union festgelegten Kriterien

Rechnung getragen.

From 2024, the number of Members of

the European Parliament elected in each

Member State shall be based on a fixed

mathematical formula under which, first,

six seats will be assigned to each Member

State and subsequently the remaining

seats will be allocated to the Member

States, with a maximum of 90 seats per

Member State, on the basis of the d’Hondt

method and of the EUROSTAT

calculations referred to in Article 2

concerning the number of residents in

each Member State at a set date (n-3)

before each European election day. If this

calculation results in a Member State’s

being allocated fewer seats than it had at

the previous election, that loss shall be

limited to one seat, while at the same time

account shall be taken of the criteria laid

down in Article 14(2) of the Treaty on

European Union.
