American Board of Orthodontics conducts annual Phase III Examination
The American Board of Orthodontics conducted its annual Phase III Examination February 28 to March 6, 1987, at the Marriott Hotel in St. Louis. The exami- nation consisted of the presentation of 15 orthodontic cases and an oral examination. This year’s examination certified 8 1 diplomates from the following Constituent Societies:

ABO written examination
The next written examination (Phase II) will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, 1987. A choice of three locations is offered to the candidates: Philadelphia, Marriott Hotel-Airport, 4509 Island Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19153; San Francisco, Clarion Hotel, 401 E. Mill- brae Ave., Millbrae, CA 94030 (San Francisco Air- port); and St. Louis, Park Terrace Hotel, 10330 Nat- ural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO 63134.
Please note that Phase II and Phase III examinations are held but once a year.

George D. Selftidge appointed Executive Director
At its March meeting, the American Board of Orthodontics appointed George D. Selfridge Executive Director, effective July 1, 1987. Dr. Selfridge is cur- rently on a l-year leave of absence as dean of the School of Dental Medicine at Washington University. He will retire from that position after more than 10 years of service, effective January 1, 1988.
His professional years of experience include active duty with the United States Navy Dental Corps, where he served 30 years aboard numerous ships in many command positions.
In 1976, he retired as a rear admiral and com- manding officer of the National Naval Dental Center.
Dr. Selfridge is past-president of the International College of Dentists and holds a master’s degree in ed- ucation from George Washington University. He cur- rently serves as a consultant to numerous organizations and is co-chairman of the Missouri Governor’s Health Coordinating Council.
