CyberKnife® Overview CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery is a treatment option for cancerous and noncancerous lesions. This non-invasive treatment delivers high-dose radiation to tumors from different angles adjusting for tumor and patient movement (breathing) during treatment. Traditional radiation treatments are unable to deliver high dose radiation without exposing a large margin of surrounding tissue to the radiation. As a result, treatment often occurs over many sessions (up to 45 treatment days) using low doses of radiation. Conversely, CyberKnife uses its advanced tracking system to target tumors from multiple angles and deliver high doses of radiation over a shorter course of time, specifically no more than five treatment sessions. Utilizing this approach, healthy tissues are minimally exposed to the radiation resulting in few to no side effects and return to normal activities right after treatment.

Lung Cancer & CyberKnife Treatment Oklahoma CyberKnife treats tumors in lung cancer patients who cannot tolerate surgery, have an inoperable tumor, or are seeking an alternative to surgery. One of the challenges of treating lung tumors is tumor movement as the patient breathes. The CyberKnife technology tracks and corrects for movement throughout the treatment, precisely delivering tightly contoured beams targeted to the tumor, minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. CyberKnife treatments require no breath holding or respiratory gating, thus allowing patients to breathe normally and remain comfortable during treatment.

Treatment is planned and delivered by Oklahoma CyberKnife’s radiation oncologist and highly trained staff. Oklahoma CyberKnife provides a non-invasive, painless and comfortable treatment with little to no recovery time.
