Our residents,families and friendsmust remember touse the sign-outsheet when theirloved one leaves thebuilding. The sign-outsheet is under theActivity Calendar inthe front hall. In theevent of anemergency, we needto know whichresidents are out ofthe building. Thankyou for yourcooperation.

Resident Council Meetings!Some of you may not be aware of

our monthly resident council meetings.The purpose of this meeting is forresidents to be updated on upcomingevents within our community, a time tospeak with the management staff, offersuggestions and voice any concerns.These meetings are held monthly, soplease reference the newsletter forthe date.

Detroit ZooWe will be taking an adventure to the

Detroit Zoo on October 4th. Theadmission is $10 for seniors and $14 foradults. Those wishing to go who needassistance with a wheelchair will need afriend or family member to assist on thetrip. Also, please plan on buying yourown lunch at the zoo.

Join Us for an Adventure!Come on out on a new adventure! On

Wed., September 19th, we will bedriving up to Lansing to get the grandtour of our State Capitol. We will beleaving late morning to arrive for ourtour at 2pm and meet with our StateSenator, David Knezek. If you areinterested, please sign up earlier thanlater. We will be bringing a baggedlunch, and wear comfortable shoes. Ifinterested, please see Elizabeth.

Calling All Card PlayersLet’s get our groups together to play

some good old-fashioned card games.We currently have Pinochle and Rummyup and going. If you are a card player,please look at the activities scheduleand come on down. If you have anyquestions, please see Elizabeth.

wheelchair lift capable of lifting up to 300 pounds.The wheelchair cannot exceed 30 inches in width,and the van cannot accommodate electricwheelchairs.

Scheduled appointments need to be within10 miles of our building; medical appointments takepriority. To schedule an appointment, please callRenee Stokes at (248) 880-9130. Please allow48-72 hours notice. Please remember, our normalscheduled days are Mondays and Tuesdays.

• Eating an apple can brightenyour smile.

• Apples are a source ofantioxidants, which can fightcancer. Researchers believe thateating apples on a regular basismay limit the development ofAlzheimer’s disease andParkinson’s disease.

• One apple has only 80 calories, 5grams of fiber, and no fat,sodium or cholesterol.

• The apple blossom is the stateflower of Michigan.

• Apples can be kept for up to twoweeks in a refrigerator (outside ofany packaging).

• Michigan is the third-largestapple producer in the U.S.A. Lastyear, Michigan farmers sold morethan 25 million bushels of apples(Michigan’s largest fruit crop).
