VP Technical Report By John Fischer Jr.

Jim M. Nau, Business Development Manager for the ACV Division of Watts Water Technologies was our presenter. The presentation was titled. “Understanding ACV's, Theory, DesignConsiderations”. We learned how the use of Automatic Control Valves provides an automatic answer to fluid control. Uses include level control in tanks and reservoirs; flow control, pressure reducing, surge and on-off control; fire protection control and relief; flood protection shut down; and irrigation control. This presentation was too short and Jim has promised to return in the near future to further expand on his subject. Thanks Jim for an excellent but too short presentation.

This month the topic will be alternative mechanical joints, such as grooved piping and valves (e.g. Vitaulic), for mechanical and alternative plumbing systems including for water entry and distribution. Materials will include but not be limited to HDPE.

This month, because I will be attending the Uniform Plumbing Code Technical committee meetings, I will not be able to provide certificates at the close of the meeting. I ask those of you that wish to receive certificates, to please fill out the form that will be available with your name and e-mail address and I will e-mail your certificate. Since I sometimes have difficulty reading the information provided on the sign-in sheets please take care to print the information legibly for me. Anybody who has certificates from other meetings they will be available at the September meeting. Thanks very much for your help.

Hope you are able to attend the May meeting. I think you will find the information presented most interesting.

DON”T FORGET TO ATTEND THE GOLF TOURNAMENT

V. P. Membership,Randy A. Kleinheider, CPD, LEED®AP

The weather has sure been fantastic lately, I hope everyone has been enjoying it like I have!

I have been receiving a few questions about renewing your membership so I thought I’d take this opportunity to refresh the on-line membership renewal process with everyone again.

You can go on-line at the ASPE website www.aspe.org to process your renewal. Near the top of the webpage, under the membership tab, there is a flyout called “Renew Membership”; select it; at that point the website will state that you need to log in first or are not in our central database. From there, click on the button

in the upper right corner. From there, the process should be self-explanatory.

Don’t miss out on our Golf Outing in June at the Warrenton Golf Course! Check out the flyer for details, and get your foursome together and register today!
