RELATIONSHIPS EQUIP MEFOR LIFE?

Close Friendships ProvideACCOUNTABILITY

Webster’s Dictionary definesaccountability as being“answerable” to someone. Havingclose friendships means that youare not a lone ranger but areconnected with people who canspeak into your life based on youractions.

Here is what the Bible says aboutbeing accountable in yourfriendships:

“As iron sharpens iron, so oneperson sharpens another.” Proverbs27:17

“Admit your faults to one anotherand pray for each other so that you

may be healed.” James 5:16 (LB)You can sum up the results of

being accountable to someone inthree words: SHARPER, SOFTER,and HEALTHIER. The Bible’s sayingthat if you’re in a relationship whereyou’ve got accountability, you will besharper, you will be softer, your heartwill stay softer, and you will behealthier long term than if you are outof relationship with people.

Don’t let your fear of opening up tosomeone keep you from being abetter “you”. Some of you might evenbe thinking, “I’ve tried that before andgot burned by someone—therefore,I’ll never open up to someone again.”While you indeed may have beenhurt, I don’t think you’ve given upeating because you once got foodpoisoning. It’s time to become abetter “you”.
