with great enthusiasm and zeal.Thethemewasaptlycalled:IgnitedMinds:AJourneytoInnovation’foritcertainlydidjustthatandbroughtout the enthusiasm in all the depart-ments of AUR. Various activitieswereheldontheoccasion.Howev-er,alleyesturnedtothemaineventin the main auditorium of the uni-versity.A capacity crowd cheeredlustilywhen theHon’bleChancel-lor,Dr.AseemChauhanspeltouttheobjectiveofthecelebrationnamelytofosterinnovation,creativity,pro-mote entrepreneurial spririt. The Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Shishir K. Dube, Prof. (Dr.)S.L. Kothari, Pro Vice-Chancelloralso addressed the audience ex-horting and motivating them onInnovation, Creativity and Entre-preneurship by drawing inspiration fromaleaderlikeDr.AseemChau-han,whoseBirthdayisbeingcele-bratedasInnovationDay. Mr. Ankit Kumar gave the ideaofbulb invention.Finally,Prof.KanadRay, Head,Applied Physics, Prof.UpendraMishra,Head,Ap-pliedMathematics,ProfP.V.S .Raju,Dy.DirectorCOAST, Prof. Jagdish Prasad, Coordinator ASAS,sharedtheirviewsoninnovationandresearch. Yet another remarkable event was AmitySchoolofHospitality’s(ASH)campaignonTourismwhichdisplayed“Change self,Changeworld”.Thestudents showcased a small play that portrayed theunder-maintained tourist destinations in India andtheireffect theyhaveon tourism. It remindedusof
ourresponsibilitywehavetowardstouristswhoareourguestsandbringforeigncurrency.Studentsmadeplac-ards, banners, and hoarding that showed the variousplacesthatexhibitingourrichculture.AfabricpaintingcompetitionwasalsoconductedbystudentsofASH. Meanwhile,AmitySchoolofFashionTechnol-ogy students organized the Central Fashion show inwhichninecostumesweredisplayedwhichwasmade

First Council Meet (NASA India) was or-ganised by the Amity School of Architecture andPlanning,AURJaipurfrom21stto25thJune,2016.TheNationalAssociationofStudentsofArchitecture(NASA) is the association for undergraduate stu-dentsofArchitecture.NASAisoneofthelargestAr-chitecturalStudentOrganizationsintheworld.FirstCouncilMeet(FCM)hostedbyAURstartedwiththeAcademic session,where in the delegates from alloverIndiagatheredtodiscussaboutthehappeningsof NASA, discussed their audited accounts, drew-agenda of the present year, to identify their problems andtoinvitesuggestionsforthebettermentoftheas-sociationworks.VariouseventslikeHeritageWalk,Photography,ProductdesigningandOut-doorgameswere organised during the meet. Independence Day 2016 at AmityHe 70th Independence Day was celebrated on15thAugust,2016inAmityUniversityRajasthan
(AUR)withtraditionalfervorandgaiety.Thecampuswasabuzzsincemorningwith‘DeshBhaktiSangeet’(patrioticsongs)onloudspeakersandthewholeatmos-pherewasmesmerizingandchargedwiththespiritof‘Indian’culture.ThetricolorwashoistedbytheChiefGuestoftheevent,Hon’bleVice-ChancellorofAUR,Prof.(Dr.)ShishirK.Dube.Theflaghoistingwasim-mediatelyfollowedbytheNationalAnthem. Later, Professor Dube inaugurated the NightCCTVSurveillanceSystemonthecampusconsistingof16newnightsurveillancecamerasinstalledandin-tegratedintoexistingsystemtoenhancesecurity. The Vice-Chancellor, during his address, ex-horted the youth not to forget the sacrifices of thosewho took part in the nation’s freedom struggle andurgedthemtotakepartinnation-building. Aspartofthis,theAmitySwachhtaAbhiyan,whichcommencedonthisday,wastocarryoutspringcleaningofallcornersoftheAmitypremises(campusandcityoffice).
SardarVallabhbhaiPatel(31October1875–15December1950)wasthefirstDeputyPrimeMinisterofIndia.HewasanIndianbarristerandstatesman,aleaderoftheIndianNationalCongressandafoundingfatherof theRepublicof Indiawhoplayeda leadingrole inthecountry’sstruggleforindependenceandguideditsintegration into aunited, independentnation. In Indiaandelsewhere,hewasoftenaddressedasSardar,whichmeansChief inHindi,Urdu,andPersian.Heactedasde factoSupremeCommander-in-chiefofIndianarmyduringPoliticalintegrationofIndiaandIndo-PakistaniWarof1947. PatelwasbornandraisedinthecountrysideofGujarat.Hewasemployedasalawyer.HesubsequentlyorganisedpeasantsfromKheda,Borsad,andBardoliin
Gujaratinnon-violentcivildisobedienceagainstop-pressivepoliciesimposedbytheBritishRaj,becom-ingoneofthemostinfluentialleadersinGujarat. HerosetotheleadershipoftheIndianNation-alCongress,inwhichcapacityheorganisedthepartyforelectionsin1934and1937evenashecontinuedtopromotetheQuitIndiaMovement. AsthefirstHomeMinisterandDeputyPrimeMinister of India, Patel organised relief efforts forrefugeesfleeing fromPunjabandDelhi andworkedtorestorepeaceacrossthenation.HeledthetaskofforgingaunitedIndia,successfullyintegratingintothenewlyindependentnationthoseBritishcolonialprov-incesthathadbeen“allocated”toIndia.BesidesthoseprovincesthathadbeenunderdirectBritishrule,ap-
proximately565self-governingprincelystates had been released from British su-zeraintybytheIndianIndependenceActof1947. Employingfrankdiplomacywiththe expressed option to deploy military force, Patel persuaded almost every
princely state to accede to India.His commitment to national inte-gration in the newly independent country was total and uncompro-mising, earninghim the sobriquet“IronManofIndia”.

Blood Donation: Saving life! Amity shows the way
A Blood donation camp was or-ganizedbyServiceSchemeunitsofAm-ityUniversityRajasthan,Jaipuron9thofNovember 2016. A medical team fromSantokba Durlabhji Memorial HospitalJaipur, led by Dr Choudhary, collectedbloodfromvolunteersafterensuringtheirmedical fitness. Brig. G S Rathore, Of-ficer onSpecialDuty to theChancellor,welcomed the medical team, blood do-norsandtheteamfromHDFCBankJai-pur. Thebanksponsoredanddistribut-edrefreshmenttotheblooddonors.Manydignitaries, including Vice-ChancellorProf. (Dr.) S.K. Dube, Pro Vice-Chan-cellor S.L. Kothari, Registrar Brig S.K.Sareen, DSWMaj Gen C.P. Singh, DyProVice-ChancellorDrV.S.DahimaandProctorMr S.S. Bhal, visited the venueandmotivatedthevolunteers.Morethan200 units of blood were donated by male and female students, faculty members,staffandsecurityguardsofAUR.Seniorofficials,includingProfG.K.Aseri,Prof.PVSRajuandMrS.S.Grover,setanex-ampleforvolunteersbycomingforwardto donate blood. Theconferenceendedwithvaledic-tory function with the Chief Guest Mr. I.C.Srivastava(Retd.IAS),inthepresenceofallhonourabledignitaries,delegates,acade-miciansandstudentsmarkedagrandendingof ICOMAP2016. The World Architecture Day was celebrated at Amity University under umbrella event ‘Arch-O-Lunio’ on 21st October 2016. The event was a fusion of art, entertainment, design, culture and adventures. Vice -Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Dube, inaugurated the event by lighting of the lamp. Mr. Tarush Chandra, Head and Associate Professor at Department of Architecture and Planning, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur was the key note speaker for the event. Various on the spot events, bike stunt show, cultural events, exhibition of students worksetc were conducted.
