This mobility base is made from heavy gauge steel, and it can accommodate machines up to 600 lbs with a base size 12" x 12" up to 36" x 36" machines. The four caster units can take plywood from 3/4" up to 1 1/2" thickness. The only assembly required is to measure the base of your machine, cut the plywood (3/4" minimum not supplied), drill the corner holes and assemble the caster unit to the plywood. The mobile base features four casters, two of which are swivel and have convenient foot-operated lifting levers for easy lifting and lowering of your machine. There are also two adjustable leveling pads. Parts of the Universal mobility base. 1 8 2

Using the knife, cut the plastic wrap. 3. Remove all the parts that have been packed with the Universal mobility base. Note. If you have any doubt about the described procedure, seek professional assistance. Do not attempt any procedure that you feel is unsafe or that you do not have the physical capability of achieving. Assembly and setup. The Universal mobility base can fit on most machines up to 600 lbs in weight. Do not use this mobility base with machines that are heaver than 600 lbs or that have a base that is larger than 36" x 36" (915mm x 915mm). 1. Measure the base of the machine on which you will be fitting the mobility base. Ensure that you measure the extremities. 2. Add 1/2 inch (12mm) to both the width and the length. 3. Decide on the thickness of the plywood to be used. 3/4 inch is the minimum that can be used, or the tabs on clamp plates will not fit into the caster slots. It is not important what thickness of plywood is used, as the weight of the machine will be taken by the feet of the machine fitting above the casters. Note. If on your machine configuration the feet of the machine are not directly over the casters, then thicker plywood should be considered. It is not possible to be specific about the plywood thickness, as it will depend on your machine configuration and weight. 4. Cut the plywood to size.

5. Fit the plywood to one caster with the clamp plate on the top, ensuring that the location tabs align with the slots in the caster. 6. Mark the position of the holes.

Pilot holes

7. Center pop the hole centers and drill pilot holes. 8. Open the holes to 3/8" (9.5mm) diameter. You may want to drill the holes from both sides of the plywood to reduce splintering.

Note caster direction

10. Repeat fitting procedure for the other casters.

Note. Ensure that the casters are facing in the correct direction.

Assembled mobility base

11. Place the mobility base beside the machine and lift the machine onto the mobility base. Either a hoist or a forklift truck should be used to lift the machine onto the mobility base. The mobility base must be in the lowered stationary position and not in the raised mobile position when fitting the machine to the mobility base. Note. If you have any doubt about the described procedure, seek professional assistance. Do not attempt any procedure that you feel is unsafe or that you do not have the physical capability of achieving.

12. Adjust the leveling feet with the swivel casters in the up position. 13. To raise the mobile base from the lowered stationary position, push the top of both foot pedals down until they lock in position. In the lower position, the leveling feet are in contact with the floor and will stop the mobility base from moving. 14. To lower the mobility base from the raised mobile position, push down on the back of each foot pedal until the leveling feet contact the floor. The swivel casters are now not in contact with the floor. Note. Never operate the machine with the mobility base in the transport mode. The mobility base must have the leveling feet in contact with the floor, and the base must be stable. Exploded view drawing
