UN NUEVO AMANECER Hoy escuchamos la manera en que Jonás, enviado por Dios para advertir a la gente, pasa como un torbellino por las calles de Nínive, asustando a los ciudadanos hasta el pánico. ¡Y funciona! Dios tiene un cambio de corazón, al ver “sus obras” como la gente se aparta del mal (Jonás 3:10). Un nuevo amanecer. Luego escuchamos a Pablo decir a los corintios: “Este mundo que vemos es pasajero” (1 Corintios 7:31). Pide un cambio de corazón. Sin llegar a decir que no hagan sus actividades diarias, les insta, misteriosamente, a vivir “como si” no están haciendo las cosas que están haciendo. Es un nuevo amanecer. Finalmente, Jesús se encuentra en la orilla y clama: “El Reino de Dios ya está cerca” (Marcos 1:14). Simón y Andrés abandonan sus redes –e incluso a su padre– y lo siguen. Es un nuevo amanecer. Todo el mundo tiene que cambiar cuando amanece un nuevo día: los ninivitas, los corintios, los apóstoles, ¡hasta Jesús! ¿No es hoy un nuevo amanecer para nosotros también?

A NEW DAY DAWNS
Today we hear how Jonah, sent by God to warn the people, storms through the streets of Nineveh, scaring the citizens out of their wits. And it works! God has a change of heart, seeing “by their actions” how the people turn from evil (Jonah 3:10). A new day dawns. Next we hear Paul telling the Corinthians, “The world in its present form is passing away” (1 Corinthians 7:31). He calls for a change of heart. Stopping short of telling them to stop carrying out their everyday activities, he urges them—rather mysteriously—to live “as though” they aren’t doing the things they are doing. A new day has dawned. Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, “The kingdom of God is at hand!” (Mark 1:14). Simon and Andrew abandon their nets—and even their father—and follow him. A new day had dawned. Everyone has to change when a new day dawns: the Ninevites, the Corinthi-ans, the apostles, even Jesus! Didn’t a new day dawn today for us as well?

Did You Know? Tips for choosing safe toys for kids: Millions of toys are out there, and hundreds of new ones hit the stores each year. Toys are supposed to be fun and are an important part of any child's development. But each year, scores of kids are treated in hospital emergency departments for toy-related injuries. Here are some general guidelines to keep in mind when toy-shopping: Toys made of fabric should be labeled as flame resistant or flame retardant. Stuffed toys should be washable. Painted toys should be covered with lead-free paint. Art materials should say nontoxic. Crayons and paints should say ASTM D-4236 on the package, which means that they've been evaluated by the American Society for Testing and Materials. WORLD DAY OF PEACE 2012: ʺEDUCATE THE YOUTH JUSTICE AND PEACEʺ Today we continue the reflection on the message of World Peace by Pope Benedict XVI, which bears the title "EDUCATE YOUTH JUSTICE AND PEACE." RESPONSIBLE FOR EDUCATION
The first and primary responsible ones for education are the "parents" - the "dad" and "mom", both are responsible. The responsibility belongs to both, not just one, reminds us the Holy Father. The family is the original cell of society. "The family is where children learn the human and Christian values that allow a constructive and peaceful coexistence. The family is where you learn the" solidarity "between generations, the" respect "for the rules, the" forgiveness "and the "host" of the other. The family is the first school where you get education for justice and peace. A question for the reflection of the "parents": are we teaching these human and Christian values to our children? Educating children is very difficult.... There are many problems in families, but we must not lose heart, each family must find their own solutions to their own realities. One of the things that can help in the family is to improve the "quality" in communication, starting with good communication of the couple and this will help to improve communication with children. Another important element is the "presence" of parents, we must be "present "as much as we can. This is very difficult, but it's worth doing.... End this reflection with some very simple words of Pope Benedict XVI:" I tell parents not to be discouraged. Encourage your children to the example of his life. "How important it is to preach to the children by example, through the witness of our lives. There is a saying: "The words convince, but the example drags."

JORNADA MUNDIAL DE LA PAZ 2012: ʺEDUCAR A LOS JOVENES EN LA JUSTICIA Y LA PAZʺ
Hoy continuamos la reflexión, sobre el Mensaje Mundial de la Paz del Papa Benedicto XVI, que lleva como título "EDUCAR A LOS JOVENES EN LA JUSTICIA Y LA PAZ".
LOS RESPONSABLES DE LA EDUCACION
Los primeros y principales responsables de la educación son los" padres de familia"- el "papa" y la "mama", ambos son los responsables. La responsabilidad es de los dos, no solo de uno, nos vuelve a recordar el santo Padre. La familia es la célula originaria de la sociedad. "En la familia es donde los hijos aprenderán los valores humanos y cristianos que permiten una convivencia constructiva y pacífica. En la familia es donde se aprende la "solidaridad" entre las generaciones, el " respeto" de las reglas, el "perdón" y la" acogida" del otro. La familia es la primera escuela donde se recibe educación para la justicia y la paz. Una pregunta para la reflexión de los "padres": ¿estamos enseñando estos valores humanos y cristianos a nuestros hijos? La educación de los hijos, es muy difícil.... hay muchos problemas en las familias, pero no debemos desanimarnos; cada familia debe buscar sus propias soluciones a sus propias realidades que se viven en la familia. Una de las cosas que pueden ayudar en la familia es mejorar la "calidad" en la comunicación, comenzando con una buena comunicación de los esposos y eso ayudará a mejorar la comunicación con los hijos. Otro elemento muy importante es la "presencia" de los padres, debemos estar lo mas que podamos "presentes", estó es muy difícil, pero vale la pena hacerlo.... Terminemos esta reflexión, con unas palabras muy sencillas del Papa Benedicto XVI: "Deseo decir a los padres que no se desanimen. Exhorten a sus hijos con el ejemplo de su vida". Que importante es predicarles a los hijos con el ejemplo, con el testimonio de nuestras vidas. Dice un dicho muy conocido: “las palabras convencen, pero el ejemplo arrastra". Compromiso: Reunirse en familia para leer esta reflexión y compartir alguna idea que mas les haya gustado.
¿Sabía Usted? Consejos para elegir juguetes seguros para los niños: Existen millones de juguetes en nuestra sociedad, y cientos de juguetes nuevos llegan a las tiendas cada año. Los juguetes son una parte importante del desarrollo de cualquier niño. Pero cada año, decenas de niños son tratados en las salas de emergencia de hos-pitales por lesiones relacionadas con juguetes. Aquí hay algunos ejemplos generales a tener en cuenta al comprar juguetes: Jugue-tes de tela deben ser etiquetados como resistentes al fuego. Los juguetes de peluche deben ser lavables. Juguetes que estén pinta-dos deben de ser cubiertos con pintura sin plomo. Materiales de arte no deben ser tóxicos. Los paquetes de lápices de colores y pinturas deben de decir ASTM D-4236, lo que significa que han sido evaluados por la Sociedad Americana para Pruebas y Materia-les. RINCÓN ECOLÓGICO Comparte tu conocimiento. Si tienes experiencia promoviendo el medio ambiente, la puedes usar para instruir a otros. Comparte tu conocimiento y pasión con otras personas e introdúcelas a temas que tal vez no conozcan. Si ya estás reciclando ó ahorrando agua ó luz, comparte con otras personas lo que haces. No solo educarás a otros en la importancia de reciclar sino también promoverás el cuidado del medio ambiente. Si tienes conocimiento en actividades al exterior, da una clase ó una expedición. No tiene que ser algo complicado ó peligroso, simplemente algo real y educacional.

Spread the knowledge: If you have experience in promoting the environment, you can use it to teach others. Share your knowledge and passion with others and introduce them to topics they may not have known about. If you are already recycling or saving water or energy, share how you do this with others. Not only will it educate others on the importance of recycling, it can serve as and advertisement, too. If you are a skilled outdoors Person, give a lecture or lead an expedition. It does not have to be complicated or dangerous, just down to earth and educational.
