A home is a haven; a peaceful place to rejuvenate one’s soul. To shelter from the storms of life and

where warmth and happiness can be shared. In the Asian context, a house designed with Feng Shui

principals in mind is important as it will benefit those who dwell within and ensure familial harmony,

health and wealth.

The living room is the heart of the home. Here, relaxing after a hard

day’s work or a fun evening of entertaining can take place. The

design of the living space very much reflects the owner’s lifestyle

and philosophy. A clever use of colours, tints and hues and a wise

selection of furniture and finishings can create different moods;

ranging from formal to relaxed, opulent to minimal.

A dining room is no longer just a space for eating meals; it now

acts as a centre for a family’s daily interactions. Today, designs

for this particular space have also become much more chic as it

is also a place for hosting dinner parties and celebrating special

family occasions. Modern home designs often link dining rooms with

kitchens in order to provide a more inclusive experience for guests

and hosts. In a local context, dining rooms and kitchens can be

separated yet may include a high top bar or serving window to allow

discussion, and completed dishes, to flow effortlessly through the

space.

In many cultures, it is believed that food served on a round table is

best. This design ensures unity and equality, and allows all guests to

sit together and enjoy the bounty spread before them in a warm and

inviting environment.

KitchenThe kitchen is one of the most Important rooms in the home. In recent

years, the kitchen has taken on more varied roles, as a place not only for

cooking but also for eating, working and socialising. Give your kitchen

a facelift with a more modern look which will transform the entire space

completely. Combine practicality with aesthetics with designer kitchen

cabinets to give a modern touch to the space.

Locally, a dry kitchen is used to prepare light food and meals which do

not require frying or other more labour intensive cooking methods. A wet

kitchen, often built adjacent to the dry kitchen, is used when stir frying,

stewing and steaming, which are crucial elements of any advanced

cuisine. In order to continue this practice, the design of a wet kitchen

must incorporate a large, comfortable space in which to work, with hardy

and long-lasting materials and user-friendly fixtures and fittings.

A family room is a special place where family members can spend

time together. It is a space where children grow up, a venue for

discussing family matters or enjoying wholesome entertainment.

A family room allows one and all to withdraw from the hectic world

outside and turn away from everyday concerns. Therefore, the

design of a family room is very important and choosing the best

materials, the right colours and most effective lighting to create a

relaxing ambiance is vital.

Master Bedroom & Dressing RoomThe design of the master bedroom is a great deal more important to

architects and interior designers today as it is viewed as a relaxing space

for the home owner to enjoy. It is often completed with an attached

space for a dressing room with a walk in wardrobe and a bathroom

which provides a more private sanctuary within.

Interior furnishings and treatments are taken into consideration with soft

colours and cozy corners for relaxation. There may also be an integrated

entertainment area or a comfy sofa, wherever space permits.

Bedroom & Guest RoomThe remaining bedrooms in the house are often delineated and arranged

by age group and should cater equally to all members of the family. These

rooms must provide complete, personal and private spaces for all occupants.

Considerations must also be made for children as they grow and the required

transformation of these spaces over the course of many years.

Guest rooms should provide basic needs, complete with furnishings

such as a bed, a desk, a cupboard and possibly a comfortable chair or a

stool. These rooms often incorporate a more neutral colour scheme when

compared to other bedrooms, which would be tailored to specific family

members’ preferences.

when creating a new home. The design philosophy at Amos Ng

Architecture is to approach each bathroom project with fresh eyes,

Garden, Patio & CourtyardOutdoor areas provide a smooth transition from the built structures of a home,

to gardens, ponds, pools and children’s play equipment. Touches of greenery

and appropriate plantings bring harmony and calm to this green space of the

home. Trees, shrubs and turf improve the overall microclimate by reducing

temperatures and at the same time provide shade and shelter from glare and

heat. Homeowners can now realize their dreams of fresh air, bountiful flowers,

aromatic herbs or fruit trees providing a tantalizing and serene backdrop for

family activities undertaken in these relaxing, outdoor spaces.

The HOMESpecialistAmos Ng Architecture provides services for planning and designing homes which follow the principles of a

contemporary, minimal and practical approach. Above all, we take into consideration the lessons of Feng Shui and

the cultural background and the lifestyle of the owner.

Homes are often divided into front hall, middle hall and rear hall spaces. With proper landscaping and interior

construction, we ensure each part of the building caters to a specific function and incorporates its inherent needs.

Our designs, which comply with Feng Shui requirements, work seamlessly alongside modern touches, to produce

ideal homes for a new generation.
