EVERSON ROYCE BAR (E.R.B.)
SILVERLAKE WINE
Co-owners Randy Clement of Silverlake Wine and head chef Matt Molina, previously executive chef at Osteria Mozza, created a one-of-a-kind ambiance and dining experience that quickly became a staple in the Arts District. Offering a delicious menu to be eaten with your fingers (think burgers, tacos, and plates of prosciutto), along with craft beers and cocktai ls from The Varnish’s Chris Ojeda. The outdoor patio strung with l ights and invit ing greenery is the perfect setting for a summer night out.
The team Clement brought together in creating E.R.B. provides unparal leled service for al l their guests - a unique indoor/outdoor experience in a burgeoning district of Downtown LA.
Silverlake Wine co-owner Randy Clement said, “We’re excited to be in the Arts District. I just love how the Art District feels—I mean, I love how downtown L.A., itself, feels—but I think there’s a really special feeling in this particular part of the neighborhood.” The location on East 7th Street in the Arts District offers tastings, private parties, delivery, etc.
“The people who go to Silverlake Wine define what we have. Ultimately, the community wil l dictate what the store is al l about,” says Clement. “What it becomes is determined by the people who come here.”
BASE COAT
GUERRILLA TACOS
Non-toxic nail bar, Base Coat is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, complete with healthy elixirs and styl ish decor. With 2 locations in Denver, CO and another on Fairfax, Base Coat’s commitment to non-toxic pampering is refreshing and gaining popularity.
All of Base Coat’s products are custom made by FIG & YARROW, a company that produces vegan-friendly, plant-based, and sulfates & paraben-free nail products. Because this salon stands firmly with its non-toxic philosophy, they do not offer any acryl ic, shellac, or gel polishes. Instead, they offer their own Base Coat nail polish that is free of al l toxic ingredients. They also offer tarot card readings and henna tattoos.
Guerri l la Tacos has official ly announced the location of their first-ever brick and mortar restaurant, landing in the Arts District on 7th and Mateo. From pop-ups, to a street car, and then a food truck, chef Wes Avila’s tacos have made a name for themselves - his mission being to make gourmet food accessible on the street.
“It’s straight-up L.A.,” Avila says of his food. “It’s a very strong influence from Mexico because it is tacos. But for the most part, it’s pretty eclectic as far as influences I’ve taken from everywhere.”
THE HOUSE OF MACHINES
COMMONWEALTH
The House of Machines Los Angeles aims to be a hub for motorcyclists featuring food, beer, cocktai ls, coffee, and l ive music. This is the third THOM outpost, the other two locations are in South Africa and Japan. The new space offers an integrated experience - one end of the shop is dedicated to serving up Evil Twin coffee, craft beer, and cocktai ls, and the other side houses motorcycle l ifts and heavy machinery.
BMW motorrad has joined forces with The House of Machines to celebrate the brand’s philosophy of ‘motorcycling as a way of l ife.’ They also created a collaborative men’s apparel brand offered at the shop.
Virginia Beach-based Commonwealth just opened their new US Flagship store and they’re bringing an array of contemporary sports and streetwear to the Arts District. Commonwealth carries brands such as Adidas, Comme des Garçons, Converse, Second/Layer, Kuumba, New Balance and more.
With a network of leaders in art, music, and counter culture at large, Commonwealth is regarded as part of the new wave of pioneers for culture and style.
