About INJAZ Al-Arab About the AMT

Operating in 15 countries across the Middle East and North Africa, INJAZ Al-Arab is the only non-profit organization in the region that harnesses the mentorship of business leaders to help inspire a culture of entrepreneurship and business innovation among Arab youth.

Partnering with leading companies in the private sector, INJAZ Al-Arab equips Arab youth to drive the economies of the Arab World forward through training designed to inspire them to develop ambition, entrepreneurship and professional skills.

Named one of the top 100 NGOs in the world by Global Journal for two consecutive years (2012, 2013), INJAZ Al-Arab has influenced the lives of over 1.5 million students since its inception in 2004.

INJAZ Al-Arab is a member of Junior Achievement; the world’s largest and fastest-growing youth business organisation dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

The Annual MENA training is a regional workshop for INJAZ staff members across 15 member nations in the MENA region.

Each year we showcase best practices and highlight new, context appropriate approaches for fundraising, PR and branding, internal and external communication, curriculum development, program implementation, operations, management, as well as soft skills such as leadership and teamwork.

INJAZ staff members and private sector partners act and serve as trainers for INJAZ member nation representatives. The event is designed to facilitate the maximum degree of staff interaction across national and regional divides and encourage sharing of best practices.

The 6th annual AMT will take place in Amman, Jordan in 2014. Previous AMTs were held in Turkey (2013), Lebanon (2012), Jordan (2011), Jordan (2010), and Egypt (2009).

Presenter: Akef Aqrabawi

McKinsey, in Fall 2013, analyzed the INJAZ strategic positioning in core areas and made recommendations for the new direction of the organization. During this session, ROC will be discussing its core strategic objectives, strategic initiatives and performance management system in an effort to increase our effectiveness and create greater alignment with INJAZ offices.

Volunteer Attraction in Rural Areas and Volunteer Monitoring

Presenters: POK/ Rasheed Roussan

In this session, we will demonstrate the e-training components for INJAZ volunteers. This presentation will cover how the program works, the mechanisms, and the pedagogy used. We will also cover the multi-media elements used and how it has been customized for INJAZ.

Effective Reporting to JAW (Org Reports)

This session will emphasize the importance of JA Worldwide Annual Reporting Tool: The Org report. Participants of this session will get exposed to the detailed process of how to successfully submit a complete and consistent organizational report. A comprehensive discussion of the challenges facing both the Member Nations and the Regional Office will also be discussed at the session.

A scorecard is more than a way of keeping score…..it is a system, consisting of people, strategy, & processes. This session will discuss the benefits of the scorecards as a performance management tool that is employed by the regional office. In this interactive session, participants will have the chance to discuss the challenges and obstacles they face when reporting on a semester basis to the regional office using the scorecards.

Plan Now for Next Year’s Success:Part 1- Operational Planning

Without a plan, it is impossible to succeed; this session will provide the growing member nations of INJAZ with several guidelines for effective operational planning and financial forecasting. More and more, our donors are becoming interested in the results their grants have on the youth, as a result, a best practice session for MNs to share their procedures in dealing with pre and post tests is of much value to all.

Working Sm@rt: Project Management - Parts 1/2(Working Sessions)

Working Sm@rt: Working Sm@rt training helps people to become effective in the workplace by eliminating the barriers to productivity with practical processes, behaviours to support those processes and making full use of whichever technology is in use. The average time gained as a result of the training is 1hr/day.

Working Sm@rt: Project Management - Parts 3/4 (Working Sessions)

Project Management: Involving all the stakeholders, this program focuses on planning the execution of projects, using ‘Objective Driven Logic’ (ODL); a ‘Resource Loaded Critical Path Scheduling method of planning’ identified by the PMI to be the most effective method of project planning. Once completed the plan can be entered into MS Project or similar.

This session will include a live demonstration of the INJAZ Al-Arab/Deloitte Company Program App. The purpose of this session is to highlight the key features of the app and train participants on user scenarios and ways to help students adopt it during national and regional company competitions.

2014 Strategyand New Fundraising Models

INJAZ Al-Arab will present its strategy and outlook on 2014 for Business Development. This will include new fundraising methods such as crowd funding. We will present proposed goals of crowd funding for competitions. There will be an open discussion to include programs in MNs that are difficult to fund and examine ways we can work as a region to fund them.

Fundraising, Pass Through Funding & Donor Stewardship

Presenter: Nick Neibauer

The ROC will provide an overview of a revised pass through funding system along with an overview of regional grant significance along with the case for dedicated fundraising. Also, new trends in terms of donor CSR and impact driven grants that are increasingly the norm will be analyzed. Lastly, donor stewardship will be touched upon with a brief introduction of new tools we are using to track grants and ensure donor satisfaction.

What’s Your Story? Impact and Value: Telling Your Program Stories

The purpose of this session is to help participants understand what a “success story” is, why it is important to tell, and ways to capitalize on its PR and fundraising values. This session aims to provide participants with hands-on advice they can use to systematically collect and create success stories that highlight their programs’ values and impacts on students and volunteers.

Still in the oven, a sneak preview of this program; during this one day workshop, university students learn the importance of internships. They learn, among other things, how to write a CV, how to interview well, how to lock in an internship and how to make the most out of it.

Why M&E?

This session introduces attendees to monitoring and evaluation basics. They learn the terminology, what they need to know to have strong evaluations and other tools they will need to make the most out of their future evaluations.

Stocks in Action

Presenter: INJAZ Morocco

In partnership with the Casablanca Stock Exchange, INJAZ Al-Maghrib has created, Stocks in Action to introduce the world of stock exchange and financial products to high-school /university students through the approach of “learning by doing”. As the students use virtual money to buy stocks and then compare thier portfolios at the end of the program to see who made the most ‘virtual’ money.

Bassem Elhady Kijami

A graduate of Nottingham University and a Sloan Fellow of LBS, Richard worked for Schlumberger in the Netherlands, Qatar and Norway before joining Bombardier Services where he was VP & GM until 2000 since when he has facilitated and coached for Priority Management in the MENA Region and the UK.

Bassem Elhady is a computer and systems Engineer, internet entrepreneur, social media researcher and analyst. He is co-founder and CEO of Kijamii; a Cairo based agency specialized in social media marketing.

Bassem is the winner of the Young Creative Entrepreneur Media award 2012 by the British Council and one of INJAZ Egypt alumnus, where he first discovered his entrepreneurial streak.

Lindsay Mack is a Group Account Director with Hill+Knowlton Strategies, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Lindsay’s focus is currently on stakeholder and media relations, strategic communications, issues and crisis management and event management for primarily UAE government entities and not-for-profit organizations. She previously held strategic communications posts across an array of industries and companies including HP, Blackberry, Operation Smile, Canada’s largest grocery retailer, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Currency & Credit cards:The Jordanian currency is the Dinar, exchange rate:

1 US$ = 0.71JD

Credit cards are accepted at most large hotels, restaurants, car rental companies and tourist shops. The most widely accepted cards are American Express, Visa, Diners Club and MasterCard. You can also use your cards to draw cash (up to 500 JDs) at any bank linked with your credit card network. The automatic cash machines outside some banks in Amman can only be used by Jordanian bank account holders, and you should not attempt to use them.

Taxi Service:

Regular yellow private taxis are a fast and relatively inexpensive way of getting around Amman, Aqaba and other cities. They are found in abundance in most areas, and you will rarely have to wait long to get one. Taxi drivers are obliged to use their meter, which starts at 0.150 JD.Car Rental:

Car rental in Jordan is fairly expensive in comparison to Europe and the United States, but there are plenty of choices available in Amman, Aqaba and at Queen Alia airport. All the main international car rental companies operate in Amman, and some have offices in other cities. Rental cars have green number plates with yellow writing, whereas Jordanian private cars have white number plates.

Climate:

Spring begins with frequent rainfall and ends with very dry conditions in Amman. Daily high temperatures in March average close to 63 degrees Fahrenheit. The April average high temperature is 72 degrees and the May average high is 82 degrees. Morning lows average in the 40s in March and April and in the 50s during May. Precipitation in March is three inches on average, falling to 1 3/4 inches in April and one-half inch during May. March averages eight rainy days, with four days of rain in April and two days of rain in May.

Amman Queen Alia International Airport: is located in Zizya area, 20 miles (32km) south of Amman, the capital city of Jordan. It is the home hub of Royal Jordanian Airlines, the national flag carrier.

One of the most elegant remains and visually stunning archaeological sites in the ancient world, hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boast incomparable scenes that make it the most majestic and imposing ancient site still standing nowadays. Dead Sea

Also called the Salt Lake is one of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the whole world. The Dead Sea is the only place in the world that combines it all; year-round moderate weather, an enriched oxygen atmosphere, therapeutic UVB solar radiation (the safest place to suntan), a mineral rich salt sea, world famous mineral black mud, thermo-mineral hot springs and world class spas. Simply put the best place in the world to pamper your body and soul and experience a world of serenity.

Aqaba

The sea in the Gulf of Aqaba is almost invariably calm with temperatures varying between 19/20 C in winter and 26 C in summer. All diving is shore based as Aqaba offers fringing reef which commences at the shoreline.

Three Hours Drive South from Amman is the most famous attraction in the kingdom, Petra which was a fortress city, literally carved out of craggy rocks, by the Nabataeans 800 B.C.

Fortified behind a narrow deep siq (gorge) that slowly winds through a massive rock wall. It is a wading, one kilometer long fissure between the overhanging clefts that seem to meet 300 feet overhead. Within Petra you will see soaring temples, royal tombs, Roman theatre, water channels, arched gates and others.

Petra was discovered when a Swiss explorer disguised as ab Arab, fell on it in 1812.

Departure from Amman at 08:00am

Return to Amman at 07:00pm

Sunday 9th of March, 2014

Amman City Tour by Night

The tour starts at 6:00 pm, transfer by Bus or Van to see the Panoramic view of Amman from the Citadel (No Entrance) for 15 minutes, then proceed to the down town, (Walking Tour and visit Al Husseini Mosque & the Old Souq, afterwards proceed to the Rainbow Street for dinner. Transfer back to hotel after dinner.
