What is GATE
GATE is an Erasmus Mundus project under the Action 2 coordinated by
Johannes Kepler University Linz
Project duration: 2012 – 2016
Project funding: 2,498.400 €
Supports academic mobility from Asia to Europe at all levels:
103 scholarships for students (Bachelor's, Master's and PhD), post-doc
researchers and staff for periods ranging from 1 month (academic staff)
to 34 months (full PhD)

Multidisciplinary consortium providing a unique opportunity to choose
programmes according to the needs of the students/researchers/staff

Target Groups for Mobility (1)
Nationals of Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia,
Myanmar, Thailand or Vietnam…
Target Group 1: … who are registered as students or staff at one of the
Partner Universities of the GATE project at the time of submitting their
application to the partnership.
Target Group 2: … who are registered at a higher education institution
of these countries that is not included in the partnership, or who have
obtained a university degree or equivalent from an institution of these
countries.

Target Groups for Mobility (2)
Target Group 3:
Nationals of Lot 10 countries who are in particularly vulnerable situations, for
social and political reasons. For example:
1) having a refugee status or being asylum beneficiary (international or according
to the national legislation of one of the European recipient countries) or
2) it can be proved that they have been the object of unjustified expulsion from
university on racial, ethnic, religious, political, gender or sexual inclination or
3) they belong to an indigenous population targeted by a specific national policy or
IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons)

Mobility from Group A countries (Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Vietnam) must represent at least 30% of the individual mobility covered by the project.
