BIGGER, BETTER
ONE
IN THIS EDITION 3rd
Dear Colleagues,
Now imagine an erstwhile Enterprise Bank customer walking into
the newly formed company only to be told that his account
information and funds cannot be found post-integration… this is a rd
perfect situation for the beginning of the 3 World War. This
operational aspect therefore can be argued to be the bedrock of
the state of initial satisfaction of the existing customer base.
In other words, we can say that Operations Day 1 deals with all
activities which lead to integration of operational and core
processes of the new company, Heritage Bank Limited (HBL).
These activities termed as “Target Operating Model (TOM)” is an
operations and technology ecosystem that allows a company to
chart a path for achieving its strategic vision on the basis of its
priorities and starting point that typically includes the roadmap
that specifies what HBL needs to do to move from the "as is" to the
"to be".
While working on the new company registration (Legal), it is
paramount that the operations of the already existing EBL and
HBCL have to be streamlined. This general approach helps define
the people, processes and technology required to deliver the
strategy. The strategy implementation plan needs to consider all of
the implications of designing processes, hiring and training staff,
acquiring or building up knowledge, and selecting, implementing,
customising, building and/or integrating systems. To this end, the
best team of consultants in various fields (Risk Management,
Human Resources, Branding and PR, IT, Technology, etc.) were
hired to forestall, take care of any impending operational issue that
may arise and to ensure a seamless operational transition and
during the planned upgrade of our systems. During this point, we regret the inconveniences that may arise as some of our channels may be unavailable, hence, we implore all staff to manage their customers effectively throughout this period.
By now you must have seen the Operational go-live countdown on
SESAME and may have wondered what's going on? This moves us
closer to claim our status as a National Bank. As we conclude the
merger to be One! Bigger and Better with more Experience
centres, more products and services, more customers etc., it is
important we reflect on the effort we have exerted to bring us to
the on-going final phase - the unification of our Operations in
readiness to serve our Customers.
Updates below will throw some light on the
status of the current integration phase as all
parameters have been put in place to achieve
the following;
- CSS cut-over in EBL: the creation
of new EBL customers on HBL
platforms.
- Creation of key CSS processors on
the CBA in order to assist in the
process of account opening.
- EBL ATM migration and cut-over to
see transactions in EBL as HBL
transactions.
- E-channels migrations on all the e-
banking platforms.
- HBC CBA cut over to the new
Server.
- On-going CBA (Finacle 10)
simulation to commence during the
week across board (Both at HBC
and EBL).
- Training for some selected IT
applications in the NEWCO across
all the regions of the bank was
conducted.
- CBA stress testing for selected
transactions. This is to ensure that
users are able to complete
transactions in the test
environment before the OD1.
- Conclusion of the CBA stress
testing for selected transactions. This
is to ensure that users are able to
complete transactions in the test
environment before the OD1.
- We have also embarked on key
equipment checks required for OD1
in order for us to know the
equipment that require replacement
so as to promote uniformity in
processing across board.
