INDUSTRIAL PROFILEEnclosure (sometimes inclosure) was the legal process in England during the

18th century of enclosing a number of small landholdings to create one larger

farm. Once enclosed, use of the land became restricted to the owner, and it

ceased to be common land for communal use. In England and Walesthe term

is also used for the process that ended the ancient system of arable framing

in open fields. Under enclosure, such land is fenced and deeded or entitled to

one or more owners. The process of enclosure began to be a widespread

feature of the English agricultural landscape during the 16th century. By the

19thcentury, unenclosed commons had become largely restricted to rough

pasture in mountainous areas and to relatively small parts of the lowlands.

The process of enclosure created a landless working class that provided the

labour required in the new industries developing in the north of England. For

example: “in agriculture the years of wholesale enclosure in which, in village

after village, common rights are lost”.

USA – CANADA – UK – CHINA – INDIA Key Trends TechNavio’s Senior

China, Brazil, and India. Rapid urbanization has contributed significantly to the

growth of the market in developing countries, which increases the demand for

electrical enclosures.” • Electrical enclosures are used to protect equipment

such as power generators, transmitters, power distributors, and other

electrical equipment. They are of two types: metallic and non-metallic. Power

generators, transmitters, and power distributors use enclosures as a cabinet

to mount switches, displays, and knobs. Enclosures help protect equipment

users from electric shock and protect the equipment from various

environmental conditions.

Adalet Inc Eaton Emerson Adalet was founded in 1926 and is headquartered

in Cleveland, Ohio, US. It develops and manufactures enclosure systems and

cable accessories. Adalet's product lines include high-voltage cable couplers,

thermal management systems, conduit and cable accessories, pilot devices,

and other related electrical products. Eaton was founded in 1911 and is

headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. It is a global technology leader in the field of

solutions related to power management. The company operates in the Power

Management industry and provides solutions that are energy efficient and

help its customers manage electric, mechanical, and hydraulic power

efficiently.

An electrical enclosure is used to protect users from electric shock and

electrical or electronic components from the environment. The

manufacturers of the electrical enclosure not only concentrate on the safety

aspect of it, but also on the attractiveness, to make the enclosure pleasing

to the eye. The electrical enclosure can be used to mount switches, displays

and knobs.

Metals, plastics, stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum are the

materials used to manufacture the electrical enclosure. Customized

electrical enclosure can be used for mass-produced equipment and on the

other hand, standardized enclosure is used for low production equipment.

Electrical enclosure is also used to protect electrical equipment such as

transmitters, power distribution systems, power generators, etc.

Enclosure Market: Drivers and Challenges

In future, industrial automation is expected to increase, which is forecast to

fuel the demand for enclosure. Globally, the governments of many countries

like U.S.A. and U.K. have implemented stringent regulations regarding safety

and this is driving the growth for the electrical enclosure market. The

growing investment in renewable energy projects by various countries,

increasing demand from food & beverage industry is fueling the growth for

the global enclosure market. The penetration of smart home equipment is

expected to propel the demand for electrical enclosure.

Decrease in the demand for metallic enclosure is acting as an inhibitor to

the global enclosure market.

The Indian electrical industry is multifaceted, manufacturing a diverse range

of products which range from high technology equipment to low technology

electrical components. The electrical industry is also an employment

intensive sector, providing direct employment to 5,00,000 people and a

further indirect employment to about one million people. It is natural that such

a vast industry has sub-sectors. Sub-sectors mostly fall in the unorganized

segment and are responsible for the production of a varied range of electrical

equipment. Depending on the equipment manufactured, the electrical industry

of our country can be broadly classified into two categories namely the

generation equipment category responsible for the manufacturing of boilers,

turbines and generators and the T&D category responsible for the

manufacture of transformers, transmission cables switch gears, capacitors

etc.
