The next training will be held at the station from 9:30am on Sunday 6 at 9:30am at the station. The brigade attended a couple of car accidents last month. Thank you to members for getting out of bed in the middle of the night to help; during winter it can be hard to leave that warm bed. It is a timely reminder to all in the community to take it easy on the roads; wet slippery conditions are frequent in our area as well as the occasional downed tree over roads. Please be careful. Electric blankets are an item that has a lot of use at this time of year - make sure yours is safe to use and rememb-er to turn it off before you fall asleep.

If you don’t have a fire escape plan in place at your home now is a good time to think about one. Key things are how to safely exit, and where to meet up (maybe at the letterbox?). New recruit numbers have grown; 8 new members are training in minimum skills. For a community as small as ours, this is absolutely fantastic. These people will become extremely valuable members in the future. Anyone interested in joining our brigade is invited to come down any Sunday morning at 8:30am for a chat or contact me on 0401 956 683.

1st Anakie Scout Group End of term 2 combined activity was a hoot - see the picture, right, of ‘spider-kid’ Ava. She scuttled from bottom to top of the wall at The Rock at least six times! Yes Ryan, we are proud of her. Numbers continue to grow with three newcomers, Rylie, Tyler and Conor. That makes 14 cubs and scouts! Wow. This term is busy with a tree planting in Blackall Road Batesford on National Tree Planting Day 30th July. The cubs will plant trees to beautify the area and will enjoy a sausage sizzle at the end of the morning! Nick and Riley are going up to scouts on 16 August - another combined group night. And it will be Nicks 11th birthday! There will be a pack holiday at Eumeralla in August and a Cuboree meeting at Gillwell Park in the October school holidays. Alisha, Oscar and Red Wolf will be part of the fun! There will be at least 3,000 cubs from all over the state! Yes guys, we will get a sleep-over with all those cubs for four nights! Bring your headlamps! There will be a pyjama night at the end of August and our Annual General Meeting will be on September 5 in the supper room at Anakie Hall. Everyone is welcome to come along, just let us know! The end of term activity will be chosen by the cubs at our pack council in September. There is a choice of bowling, mini golf or roller skating. If you were a cub scout, what would you choose? Red Wolf & Sahi

Fresh flower boxes made to order. Deliveries available.

The Tucker family wish to sincerely thank all who attended Nellie’s funeral, sent floral tributes, messages and cards of sympathy.

Health News & More Hypnosis: an artificially induced trance-like state resembling sleep, characterised by an heightened susceptibility to suggestion. It was popularised in the 1800’s as a form of therapy by Scottish surgeon James Braid. However trance-like states have been practised for thousands of years by many cultures: some used so-called ‘mind-altering’ substances found in some plants, whilst others entered into deep states of meditation. Technique: relaxation combined with particular eye-fixation techniques are most commonly used. Uses: to modify behaviour, e.g. smoking cessation, pain management, post traumatic stress management & much more. Important: it is vitally important with Hypnotherapy to seek the services of a suitably qualified practitioner.
