Analysis of written article

• The article itself is basically about the way Dizzee Rascal conducted himself when he walked into NME studio and how he’s picked up a few awards later. He still has a bad-boy image and as soon as he walks in demands his name and starts tagging with a spray can

• The style of the article is written in a chatty and informal way to connect with the target audience as they would most likely be students

• It is written in 4 short columns so the main image is the focus, its short and snappy so its not drawn out to bore the reader

• The main heading/headline is quite dramatic and also a play on words which is informal. It is huge and takes up half the page to catch your eye and to direct you to the article

ANALYSIS OF ARTICLES- DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD 2Mise en scene Very simple, minimalist, plain background dominated by Florence Welch sitting on top of the USA flag. Beyond the picture is the title ‘USA got the love’ so the flag is fitting with the theme, her hair is bright read which stands out along with the stripes on the flag

Main ImageTakes up a whole A4 page, she looks very stylish and fashionable which is in keeping with her music, her hair is bright red which implies rebellion but still style. She looks confident which shows her music is something she is proud of and wants to talk about

Copy begins with a large letter D using Drops CapDirects the reader to where the text starts. In a font that is the same as half of the title yet different from the main copy. It is a feminine font which ties in with Florence Welch and is probably an article that would appeal more to women

Main HeadingBit of a play on words as one of Florence and the machine’s most famous song is called ‘you’ve got the love’ but it is also about her breaking into the USA music scene and so it is a perfect title. USA is in huge letters which takes up half of the two pages and ‘got the love’ in a smaller, more feminine font also used at the beginning of the copy

StandfirstGives the reader a summary of what the text is about with ‘Florence Welch’ (the name of the main image) in blue to stand out from the rest to draw the target audience’s eyes in.

3 columns of copyJust 3 small columns of text as the image is dominating and more likely to be looked at and catches your eye when you flick through

Caption saying FlorenceEasy to see when flicking through the magazine to see who the article is about. Easy to locate for the reader.
