BOTTOM HOLE DATA ACQUISITION LABORATORY

• This Laboratory is responsible for acquisition of reservoir data through sub-surface pressure-temperature surveys by using mechanical and state of the art electronic memory pressure gauges.

• Engaged in sampling of Sub-surface as well as Surface Reservoir Fluid • Bottom Hole Pressure (BHP) and temperature data are utilized for reservoir management which involves

surveillance of reservoir pressure, pressure depletion trends of producing wells etc. In well testing operation BHP data are recoded against time as per the test design keeping the pressure gauge down hole for a longer duration. These BHP data as a function of time (Well Test Analysis) help Reservoir Engineer to estimate important reservoir parameters viz. Initial Reservoir Pressure, Minimum Reservoir Volume, Permeability, Skin and also to identify heterogeneity and boundary of the reservoir under study.

PVT LABORATORY

Oil-Gas reservoirs are produced by pressure depletion process. The reservoir pressure declines as fluids are recovered however reservoir temperature remains constant throughout the process. The main variable that determines the behaviour of fluid under reservoir condition is Reservoir Pressure. Basically, PVT analysis involves injection of a representative reservoir fluid into PVT cell followed by reduction of cell pressure (expansion of cell volume) in predefined steps from elevated pressure (well above reservoir pressure) to the limit that corresponds to maximum allowable volume of the cell. The volume of cell (occupied either by oil or gas or both) is measured for each reduced pressure step at reservoir temperature. For cell volume at each pressure steps the corresponding volume of fluid occupied at standard pressure and temperature are also recorded.

• PVT tests are mostly physical simulation of reservoir depletion process in laboratory. As a first step it helps us to gather knowledge on change in phase behaviour of reservoir fluid with pressure depletion.

• The tests simulate the surface recovery of Hydrocarbon at different steps of pressure reduction in the reservoir • Volumetric relation between fluid at reservoir condition and that at the surface condition is determined • Molar composition of Reservoir Fluid as well as that of produced fluids at different step of pressure decline are

determined

The laboratory conducts detailed experiments on Reservoir Fluid for:

• Phase Behaviour Studies Of Oil-Gas System • Molar Composition Analysis • Phase Behaviour Studies Of Gas-Condensate System • Optimization of Separator conditions to improve liquid recovery

PVT analysis of Reservoir Fluid is required for:

• Knowledge of phase behavior of the test fluid • Accurate estimation of H-C reserve in place • Optimum designing of Surface facilities • Optimum Reservoir depletion strategy • Creation of PVT model for Reservoir Simulation
