    To the Candidate

You are about to enter the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. It is not an idle step. Scottish Rite Masonry is a philosophy of life, teaching the relations which you should sustain toward your fellow man, as well as your relations to God. The ceremonies should be approached reverently, and with earnestness of purpose. If you have any other purpose than making more of yourself as a man — a better citizen, and a more useful member of society — you are making a mistake in knocking at these portals. The Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man are emphasized in these degrees, and the student of the philosophy of these degrees, as unfolded in their presentation, may get a lot of pleasure and much profit from them. But it is up to you. There is no royal road to learning and there is no royal road to the mysteries of the Scottish Rite. It is an individual matter, and if you would be more to yourself and your community and to the Scottish Rite you must do more than merely listen to the unfolding of the lessons of the degrees. If they are not put into effect in your life and character they are but so much sounding brass and tinkling cymbals. The opportunity is before you to make of yourself a Mason to whom your friends and neighbors will point as worthy of the name.

If you become a Prince of the Royal Secret by receiving the Thirty-second Degree and are no better or wiser than when you began your journey, your investment of time and money will have been in vain. If, however, you bring a receptive mind and a sensitive heart to these degrees you will indeed be a wiser and a better man. Many men have been renewed, intellectually and even spiritually, during the conferring of these degrees. It is the hope and prayer of the Masters and other members of these Scottish Rite Bodies that your experience may be rich, significant and profitable. Welcome to the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

    A Scottish Rite Reunion

A Scottish Rite Reunion is exactly what the term implies. It is a reuniting of the membership after a period of separation. It is a homecoming get-together of the Brethren in a continuing fellowship of the Fraternity.

The days of the Reunion are rich in a comradeship among those of like mind and purpose. We here recognize stability and strength, and feel proud to be a part of a program of such magnitude and worth. Within this fellowship, the horizons of our own lives are lifted.

We see anew that Masonry is big with a bigness that keeps life Masonically big. The Reunion is a time of renewing our interest and devotion to the program and purposes of Scottish Rite Freemasonry

You are urged to attend a Reunion as often as your time and circumstances will permit. Come for as little or as much of the Reunion as possible. Come and break bread and meet in fellowship with your brethren of the Scottish Rite. We truly believe that you will enjoy it all.

The Bodies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, sitting in the Valley of Houston, Orient of Texas, acknowledge and yield allegiance to the Supreme Council (Mother Supreme Council of the World) of the Inspectors General, Knights Commander of the House of the Temple of Solomon of the Thirty-Third Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States of America, whose SEE is at the Grand Orient of Charleston in the State of South Carolina (now sitting in Washington, D.C.) and whose officers include:

    Information from the General Secretary

The Houston Scottish Rite Bodies with 4,000 members, is the largest appendant body of Masons in this area. Our Scottish Rite offices are open daily from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Since most of our Blue Lodges, Grotto, Eastern Star, etc. do not maintain a regular office open daily, the office of the Secretary of the Scottish Rite is really a Masonic Office for all branches of Freemasonry in this area, and we are happy to be of this service. The Scottish Rite wishes to serve Freemasonry in various ways and this is one of those services.

We welcome any call or visit from anyone who feels that we might be able to help or answer any questions about the fraternity or any of its appendant bodies. It goes without saying that the great bulk of our work does involve the Scottish Rite, but we are happy to assist anyone needing information about Blue Lodges, the Eastern Star, DeMolay, Rainbow for Girls, the York Rite, the Grotto, or whatever. The Grand Lodge of Texas and the Grand Lodge officers

know that the Houston Scottish Rite stands ready and willing to assist in any manner possible.

The Secretary’s Office at the Scottish Rite does all of the normal things expected of such an office. We will be pleased to furnish blank petitions for membership or affiliation or reinstatement, or any other information about being a part of the Scottish Rite. We also have blue lodge petitions.

We encourage all Master Masons to join us in the Scottish Rite. We work very hard to be a dynamic part of this fraternity and we need every Mason to join us. We have been called “The Strong Right Arm of Freemasonry.” Help us perform all of these duties required to help our fraternity succeed.

Petitions needed to join the Scottish Rite can be obtained from or turned in at our office. The fee for receiving the 4th through 32nd degrees is $500, and includes your 14° ring in a pyramid, Scottish Rite Hat, the Patent of Membership, 32° Pin, copies of A Bridge to Light and Albert Pike’s Morals and Dogma Annotated Edition and your membership dues for the current calendar year.

    An Invitation

To all members of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Greetings!

The Officers and Working Corps of Houston Consistory and Coordinate Bodies extend their fraternal greetings, and a cordial invitation to each of you to be present during the reunion.

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is an institution whose principles should really be a part of our lives, evidenced by purity of life and rectitude of conduct, by nobler deeds and greater aspirations, its teachings should make our eyes more keen to observe the needs of our fellow man, and our hearts more sympathetic to the touch of misfortune. Its obligations involve the expected performance of specific duties, that we may cross the golden threshold with the assurance that we have helped to make the world a little better and life a little brighter for those less fortunate than ourselves.

With this brief forward we especially welcome those of the great Craft selected to become members of these particular bodies, to the ranks of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, that they may be dedicated to the service of God, Man, and Country.

    Organization of the Scottish Rite

The Government of the Scottish Rite is lodged in Bodies, called Supreme Councils — one for each nation, except the United States of America, where the are two. The Northern Masonic Jurisdiction has the States north of the Ohio River and east of the Mississippi River, while our Southern Jurisdiction has all other States and Territories, our Island possessions and the Army and Navy, as well as China, Japan, and the Philippines.

In the Southern Jurisdiction the number of members of the Supreme Council is forever fixed at a number of 33, though it is seldom that the quota is filled. The members are elected for life and vacancies are filled by the surviving members. The biennial meetings of the Supreme Council of the Southern Jurisdiction are held at Washington, D.C., in the House of the Temple. The members of the Supreme Council are known as Active Thirty-thirds, and there can only be one in any one jurisdiction. The Scottish Rite Bodies in one jurisdiction constitute an Orient (State), and the Bodies in a city constitute a Valley.

    Meetings

Regular meetings of all Scottish Rite in the Valley of Houston are held on the fourth Thursday of each month, except in November and December it is held in the third Thursday due to the holidays. We do not meet in August. Dinner is served at 6:00 pm and the meeting at 7:00 pm.

    Guide to Degrees

The resumes of the Scottish Rite Degrees, from the 4th to the 32nd, are bare outlines of the plots, or schemes of the actual degrees. They are intended to give the candidate an idea of what he is about to see enacted upon the stage in full robes with proper lighting effects, properties, and drops. They are meant to arouse his curiosity and to enable him to better understand the work as he sees and hears it performed, and to disclose a continuity in the degrees that might have otherwise been overlooked by those attending them for the first time. The profound philosophic truths taught by the degrees and Masonic obligations undertaken by those receiving them are not to be found in these outlines. They are to be gathered alone from the degrees themselves.

    FOURTH DEGREESecret Master

The brethren mourn the death of the Master Hiram and the Lost Word. An impassable barrier (a railing) separates them from the most secret mysteries of Masonry. Darkness prevails in the Temple. The aspirant, a Master Mason, desiring to become a Secret Master, is admitted, examined

in the first three degrees, and is lectured while making four circuits around the lodge room. He answers questions after each circuit. He hears that Masonry is Duty, and that Truth and the Lost Word are within reach of every man would he but open his eyes and see.

    FIFTH DEGREEPerfect Master

The aspirant having learned Secrecy, Obedience and Fidelity as a Secret Master, comes here to learn the duties of a Perfect Master. This being the anniversary of the Master Hiram’s final burial, the aspirant is caused to represent him in his death scene. Lying in his coffin he listens to his

brethren proclaim the perfect life he should lead, and how he should live virtuous and good in order that his memory might be honored by the living. He is raised from his assimilated death to life and made a Perfect Master.

Hiram, King of Tyre, in anger goes to King Solomon to complain about the poor condition of the twenty towns he had received from Solomon for helping him build the temple. Zabud, a faithful friend and servant to Solomon, seeing the anger apparent on Hiram’s face, hides

behind a door near the lodge with a sword drawn to aid Solomon if need be. He is discovered and accused of eavesdropping. Khairom is angry and draws his sword to kill Zabud, but Solomon interferes. It is explained that Zabud was willing to risk his life to save his King. He is forgiven and because of his loyalty and fidelity is made an Intimate Secretary.

Since the death of Master Hiram there has been little restraint in law and order. King Solomon is being over run with complaints and disputes among his people. The aspirant, representing Zabud, an Intimate Secretary, desires to become a Provost and Judge, and is led in seven circuits

around the lodge room, listening to the duties of a Provost and Judge. He vows to assume those heavy responsibilities and important duties, and to decide justly and impartially in all matters without fear or favor, or promise of reward.

Before his death, the Master Hiram, who was also charged with building a secret chamber to contain the sacred, treasured, and holy Ark of the Covenant, had carefully confided the secrets of science and art to those whom he felt were better qualified to carry on the work, especially

his favorite, Adoniram. He taught them above all to be charitable and benevolent to all men, and to sympathize with the laboring man. He taught that all freedoms are within their reach, and that they must ever seek, learn, and serve if they would be Intendants of the Building.

The three ruffians, J___, J___, and J___, are reported by a herdsman to have been seen hiding in a cave. King Solomon elects Chief Yehuaber and eight others to capture them alive. The chosen nine separate to cover more ground. Yehuaber and a companion find the ruffian J

Solomon is angry because Yehuaber failed to bring J___ in alive, and when Yehauber explains the attack by the ruffian, Solomon crowns him and his eight companions Knights and Elus (Elu, a French term meaning Elected or Chosen) for their bravery and loyalty.

TENTH DEGREEElu of the Fifteen(Conferred by members of Doric Lodge 420 in Houston, TX)

they hear voices rising from the grave stating that “death is reserved for all, but after death comes the resurrection and life eternal.” They find the sacred cubical stone on which is written the ineffable word, which Solomon, King of Israel, Khairom King of Tsur, and the Master Hiram swore should not be given unless all three were present.

    Fourteenth Degree Ring

To our ancient brethren who were members of Knightly Orders, three things were prized above all others - even above life itself - for with the loss of either, life’s aim had failed.

These three things were the purity of his honor, the integrity of his sword, and the spotlessness of his shield. Honor that never broke faith with anyone; the integrity of his sword in never failing to draw it in defense of innocence and right; the shield never to be sullied by protecting oppression and wrong.

At the death of the Knightly owner, he bequeathed his sword and shield to one nearest and dearest to him, the one he believed would maintain both unblemished.

The Scottish Rite has adopted a symbol that represents the sword, shield, and armor of our ancient Brethren, and as clearly marks the profession of Knighthood as did those. This symbol is the Fourteenth Degree Ring, with its motto - “Virtus junxit, mors non Separabit” - “Virtue has united, and death shall not separate.”

The Scottish Rite now presents each new fourteenth degree Mason with his ring embedded in a lucite pyramid. The ring is a plain flat band having imposed thereon an engraved or enameled plate in the form of an equilateral triangle, and within the triangle the Hebrew letter “Yod”. This lucite pyramid is a beautiful item that can be displayed in your home or work place. After being displayed honorably throughout your life, as was the custom of our ancient Brethren, you might want to hand it down to one most dear to you in belief that he or she will keep it pure and unsullied.

    Masonic Calendar

Ancient Craft Masons commence their era with the creation of the world calling it Anno Lucis (A.L.) in the year of light. Add 4000 years to common time: thus 2014 plus 4000 = 6014.

Scottish Rite, same as Ancient Craft, except the Jewish chronology is used, Anno Mundi (A.M.), “in the year of the world.” Add 3760 years to the common time, thus: 2014 plus 3760 = 5774. After September add one year more.

Royal Arch Masons date from the year the second temple was commenced by Zerubbael, Anno Inventionis (A.I.), “in the year of the discovery.” Add 530 years to the common time, thus: 2014 plus 530 = 2544.

Royal and Select Masters date from the year in which the Temple of Solomon was completed, Anno Depositionis (A.Dep.), “in the year of the deposit.” Add 1000 years to the common time, thus: 2014 plus 1000 = 3014.

Knights Templar commence their era with the organization of the Order, Anno Ordinis (A.O.), “in the year of the Order.” From the common era take 1118, thus: 2014 minus 1118 = 896.

Order of High Priesthood dates from the year of the Blessing of Abraham by the High Priest Melchizedek, Anno Benefacio (A.B.), “in the year of the blessing.” Add 1911 to the common time, thus: 2014 plus 1911 = 3925.

Prince Zorobabel leaves Persia and returns to Jerusalem to encourage and assist his people in rebuilding the city and restoring the Temple destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar over 70 years before. The builders have no heart to build and succumb to defeat because they are few and too

weary to work. Zorobabel returns to Persia to gain a conference with King Cyrus, whose life he had saved when fighting with him against Persian enemies. The King receives him as a friend, shows him the sacred Ark and sacred treasure stolen from the Temple by Nebuchadnezzar, and promises to restore them and free the people if Zorobabel and will reveal the secrets of the Masonic order. Although sorely tempted, Zorobabel refuses, King Cyrus, being impressed with Zorobabel’s faith in God, and his loyalty and fidelity to Masonry, reveals unto him the holy vessels and permits him to take as many of his people as desire to go with him to Jerusalem to assist in the restoration of the holy city and Temple.

Many years later, the Temple is not yet completed. Adversaries continue to disturb the workers, and demand to know who their leaders are and why the Temple is being rebuilt. King Darius, who had fought side by side with Zorobabel and was a brother of the Light, has now ascended

the throne of Persia. Zorobabel and four of his princes depart for Persia to confer with King Darius, and seek his aid in eliminating the adversaries, and clearing up the matter of the decree issued by King Cyrus. King Darius received them and hears their pleas. The Decree of King Cyrus is found and then King Darius restores treasures to the Temple, and sends Zorobabel back with escort to Jerusalem. Zorobabel appoints the four princes who accompanied him as Judges and Magistrates to settle disputes and restore peace and harmony among the people.

and find the Lost Word. For three days, with the aid of his brethren, he searches for the Lost Word. The gates of Hell are opened and he hears about the frailties of man. Renewal and Rememberance Ceremony

In deference to the Maundy Thursday rites of churches, in 1994, it was deemed appropriate that a Scottish Rite nonobligatory “Celebration of Remembrance and Renewal” should replace the traditional Maundy Thursday observance.

The words of this ceremony speak to the hearts and minds of all men. But words alone do not suffice. The Great Master matched His words to acts. He knelt before each of his Disciples and washed the feet of each as an act of total humility and love. In this symbolic act of self-sacrifice and service, the message took on practical form. The truth was given substance. Intention without action is of little use.

The Ceremony of Remembrance and Renewal, including the Mystic Banquet is not a religious observance. It is neither the Feast of the Passover nor a Sacrament of Holy Communion, although it commemorates the spirit of both days.

Chapters of Rose Croix traditionally observe the celebration of the Mystic Banquet as a memorial service honoring the Knights of their Chapter who have passed on during the preceding year. This observance strengthens the ties of brotherly love, past and present. We meet together to break the bread of fraternity, to reconcile ourselves with those we may have offended, and to drink the wine of refreshment and renewal. Thus, we celebrate the lives of our departed Brethren and all mankind.

In this celebration, we also commemorate the lives all those who labored to improve mankind and were rewarded with betrayal, punishment, and death. Whether poet, religious leader, scientist or social reformer, all who seek to elevate may be considered as Brethren. Masonry is duty, and its practice, often fraught with personal sacrifice, requires the performance of duty for the good of humanity.

The candidate, a Knight Commander of the Temple and an Adept, seeks to unite himself with the Scottish Knights of St. Andrew. He is blindfolded and led into the chamber which is supposed to be Inquisitors of the Faithful. Asked to reveal Masonic secrets, he refuses,

and is tortured upon the rack. Not withstanding the pain, he is released, and placed on probation. He guards the Banner of St. Andrew throughout the night, and successfully defends it against three adversaries. He is rewarded by having the probationary period waived, and is consecrated a Scottish Knight of St. Andrew.

    THIRTIETH DEGREEKnight Kadosh

This degree is divided into four apartments. In the first apartment, the Candidate, a Knight of St. Andrew, called Postulate, after being warned of possible dangers and deprivations he might have to endure, still desires to be admitted a Knight Kadosh. He is shown the three skulls and

is reminded of the uncertainty of life. He hears the spirit of a Knight imploring him to turn back, but to no avail. He overcomes the dread of death and takes the first vows of Honor, Duty, and Gratitude.

In the second apartment, the Postulate hears voices quoting the duties of a philosopher and Knight Kadosh, and hears the history of the Scottish Rite and Masonry dating back several hundred years. He vows at the altar of Truth to devote himself to the objectives and sacrifices of the Order.

In the third apartment, he is willing to abide by the ordeal of the Frank-Judges, and exposes himself to the severe judgment of this Tribunal. He is caused to write his professions of Faith in matters Masonic, Religious, and Political, and is given the third Vow.

In the fourth apartment, he is vouched for as a man whose empire is over himself, and who has overcome the dread of death. He hears the objectives and purposes of Masonry from ancient times to the present, and the seven steps of the Mystic Ladder are fully explained as he takes his fourth and final vow of Knight Kadosh.

The Candidate, representing the soul of Cheres, is brought before the Court of the Dead, to be tried by the Tribunal who must decide whether he, while living, obeyed all the laws of the land and lived according to the true principles of Masonry. After being questioned by various members of

the Tribunal, it is determined that his good deeds have outweighed his bad deeds. Osiris, the presiding judge, then frees his soul into the realm of everlasting light and peace.

THIRTY-SECOND DEGREEMaster of the Royal Secret

A Solicitant, vowing that he has governed himself by lessons learned in preceding degrees, earnestly seeks to know the Royal Secret. He is told that the Aryans, over seven thousand years ago, used Symbols, which when properly interpreted, reveal the Holy Doctrine and the Royal Secret.

His mind is refreshed and he becomes even more familiar with the lessons taught in previous degrees as he listens to the explanation of the nine tents. He promises to fight tyranny, and to protect the rights of freedom. He takes the four solemn vows of loyal service, promising to become a true teacher of Truth and Light so that he may hereafter benefit mankind.

    The Almoner’s Fund

    Patrick L. Cook, 32° KCCH

    Almoner

“If thy Brother be waxen poor and his hand fail with thee - thou shalt relieve him.”

During every Reunion of the Scottish Rite Bodies the opportunity is given members to participate in replenishing the Almoner Fund.

This fund is disbursed under the direction of the Almoner. It may be spent to buy fuel for the widow, a pair of shoes for the barefoot child, food for the hungry, or the relief of their distress when an emergency arises.

This fund has met a real need and during these past few years the demands upon it have been unusually heavy, but being maintained from voluntary contributions, it cannot function beyond the extent of its contributions. Brethren, be assured that every dollar contributed to this worthy endeavor will be used to relieve genuine distress.

When the box of Fraternal Assistance is passed, may your contribution be generous!

    History of the Scottish Rite

The Scottish Rite had its beginning in France, when in 1754, the Chevalier de Bonneville established in Paris, a chapter of twenty-five so-called High Degrees which, including three symbolic Degrees, was called the Rite of Perfection. In 1758 these Degrees were taken to Berlin and placed under a body called the Council of the Emperors of the East and West, and in 1762 Frederick the Great of Prussia became the head of the Rite and promulgated what is known as the Constitutions of 1762. In 1786 a reorganization took place in which eight degrees were added to the twenty-five, and the name changed to the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. By these Constitutions Frederick resigned his authority as Grand Commander and provided that the government of the new system of degrees should rest with a Supreme Council in each Nation, to be composed of nine Sovereign Grand Inspectors General of the Thirty-Third and last Degree of Freemasonry.

In 1761, the year before Frederick the Great was said to have taken under his patronage all Masonry in Germany, Stephen Morin of France was commissioned Inspector General of the New World by the Grand Consistory of Sublime Princes of the Royal Secret in Paris to introduce the Rite in the Americas. He established Bodies in San Domingo and Jamaica and in turn commissioned Henry Andrew Francken who established a Lodge of Perfection in Albany, N.Y., in 1767. Other Lodges of Perfection were organized in various places including one in Charleston, S.C., until in 1801 they were consolidated under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Council. From the beginning, these Lodges of Perfection were in full harmony with the symbolic lodges, assuming no authority over them and invariably beginning their work with the Fourth Degree.

The revised Constitutions of 1786 provided for two Supreme Councils in the United States of America with equal powers in their respective jurisdictions. Accordingly in 1813, the Supreme Council ceded all of the United States north of the Mason and Dixon Line and east of the Mississippi River for the purpose of establishing a second Supreme Council in this Country. This territory comprises the States of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin and is termed the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States, with headquarters in Boston, Mass. The remaining thirty-five States together with all territories and dependencies, China, Japan, and the Army and Navy were retained by the “Mother Supreme Council” and are now termed the Southern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States.

During the Supreme Council years of continuous existence, it has surmounted all difficulties and has become a dominant

influence in the world of Masonry. The Supreme Council 33°, whose See is at Charleston in the State of South Carolina, is in truth the Mother Council of the World”. It now has its headquarters in Washington, D.C., where it occupies one of the most magnificent Masonic Temple in the world, known as the “House of the Temple”.

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Texas

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Texas, Inc. was chartered by the Texas Secretary of State on June 23, 1955 and formally launched on December 17, 1955. It is a channel through which individual Masons can contribute and participate in the perpetuation of two continuing projects extremely important to the brotherhood of free men.

The first of these is our Fellowship Program. Under the leadership of our Sovereign Grand Inspector General in Texas, we have established doctoral level fellowships for school administrators in Texas who wish to pursue career studies in Public School Administration.

The recipient of a scholarship from our Foundation must have unquestioned loyalty to the American form of government, a balanced personality that is pleasing to the public and superior academic ability as reflected in their undergraduate grades.

The second project of our Foundation is the Lee Lockwood Texas Scottish Rite Library and Museum at Waco. The Library and Museum is a major center for the preservation of history and for research by students and scholars.

As it has done throughout the history of our free nation, the Masonic fraternity has played a leading part. It is in such structures as the Lockwood Library and Museum that many of the most valued works of our forefathers will be protected and defended for all time. All Scottish Rite Masons in Texas are proud of their building in Waco, built for the benefit of the Masonic fraternity and the general public.

Contributions or bequests are tax-deductible for the purposes of Federal Income and Estate Taxes. In remembering the Foundation in your wills, the correct legal name is The Scottish Rite Foundation of Texas, Inc. Individual contributions can be made through the Scottish Rite Secretary’s Office in Houston, or can be sent direct to the Foundation at P.O. Box 3080, Waco, Texas 76707.

The Scottish Rite Dormitory The University of Texas at Austin

The Scottish Rite Dormitory has become as much a part of the history of the University of Texas as the familiar UT Tower. The Scottish Rite Dormitory, which is located just across the street from the UT campus in Austin, has been the home-away-from home for the daughters, granddaughters, and nieces of Texas Masons for more than seventy years. This dormitory is a lasting tribute to the foresight of the Scottish Rite Masons of Texas in the several Consistories who shared in the donation of the original funds that made the dormitory possible.

The cornerstone of the magnificent institution was laid on November 28, 1921, and on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1922, it was formally dedicated. Owned and operated by the Texas Scottish Rite Educational Association, its purpose is to provide protection, and a cultural and moral background for the young ladies of Texas Masons during their enrollment in The University of Texas. A standard of service and cultural environment was set by Texas Masons in originally developing the dormitory program and these standards have been continued to this day.

The Dormitory is essentially a Masonic institution. Primarily, therefore, its accommodations are for those of Masonic affiliation. In furtherance of this primary objective, the Board of Directors requires that preference be given to daughters of the Texas Masons and Texas Scottish Rite Masons.

The Scottish Rite Dormitory is the only women’s dormitory owned and operated by the Masonic Order in the world. There is no other known dormitory that provides the service and material comforts of home which the Scottish Rite Dormitory provides for its residents, at a minimum cost. It is truly a Home Away From Home for more than 200 daughters, granddaughters, and nieces of Texas Masons.

It has been said: When you educate a man, you educate an individual; When you educate a woman you educate a family.

The Scottish Rite Secretary’s Office has applications and other information about the Dormitory. Those who are interested are encouraged to apply well in advance of when they plan to enter The University of Texas - 12 to 18 months if possible. There is usually a waiting list and early applications are suggested. When in Austin, feel free to visit the Dormitory at 210 West
