The head of the state was the pharaoh who was considered a living God and had unlimited power.

Police could substitute for the king as chief justice and were also a Priest of

Maat.

Judged by a tribunal made up of scribes, priests, and high officials such as viziers.

The CourtYou were presumed to be guilty and had to prove yourself innocent.

The Egyptians were very detailed in their record keeping making evidence easier to provide.

Egyptians needed a confession in order to convict a suspect.
