Ancillary Task Analysis
Double page spread
Basic conventions of a double page spread:
•a large, focal image•headline•a pull quote•main star name in bold•stand first•text arranged in columns •other, relevant images•colour scheme•page numbers•first letter of first text is enlarged
Headline which is
striking to engage the reader but
doesn’t give away the
topic of the spread
Large image which is the main focal point of the double page spread, usually it takes up one whole page or bleeds
between the two. Often it starts the colour scheme, which in this case brings about the colour scheme of purple and pink
which is recurrent throughout the spread.
Pull quote which is usually an engaging section of the text which draws the readers attention and engages them before even reading the main article
Main star name in bold which captivates the audience and
highlights the main figure of the spread
Text arranged in columns so it is clear and concise and is often used
in double page spreads
Other relevant images which are in turn just as
captivating so that the reader is engaged the whole way
through
Consistent colour
scheme to keep the audience engaged and keep
consistency and fluency.
If various different colours
were used the spread would look disorganise
d and unattractive
Page numbers make the
spread look professional
and allow readers to
easily navigate from page to page
First letter of
paragraph is enlarged to
show the start of the text
and draw the reader to it
