group members (SAK-22282). This feature is enabled via property setting

    (assignment.group.submission.enabled=true).

Instructors enter one grade for all group members, and if gradebook integration has been

enabled, the grade will be entered for those users in the gradebook. Instructors applysettings (such as resubmission) for all group members, and all members receive assignment

    notifications.

CKEditorThe default rich text editor in Sakai,CKEditor, has been updated to version 4.3.4. The editor

    also includes two new plugins:

Word count--users will see a running tally displayed in the lower right corner of the

    editor (SAK-22001).

Audio recording widget--by selecting an icon in the editor menu, users access apopup window where they can start, stop, preview, and embed an audio clip with

native player; audio is recorded/played via HTML5 or a fallback to Flash

    (SAK-24415).

    Delegated Access

This release also includes another new administrative tool,Delegated Access. The tool lets aSakai CLE functional administrator provide site access to non-admin users who dont belongto the site. With this tool, a CLE admin can:

Delegate site access to a particular user.

Provide a "shopping period" during which a site a can be accessed by all users, eitherwith or without CLE login.

Delegate administrative capabilities to a non-admin user, who can then manage

    delegated access and shopping periods.

This tool utilizes theSite Hierarchy service, which supports hierarchical nodes in a Sakai

instance via site properties. Institutions may create multiple custom hierarchies, each with aroot "parent" node and multiple "child" nodes. In the Delegated Access tool, access can be

set for any node, so the settings apply to all of that node's sites.

By default, the Delegated Access tool is included in the Administration Workspace. When an

admin delegates access and/or admin capabilities to a particular user, the tool is then addedto that users My Workspace site. For site shopping periods, a different user interface--called

the Shopping Tool--can be added to either My Workspace sites or the gateway page. This

interface lets users search for and visit sites.

    Forums

This release includes performance improvements, as well as an enhancement that lets

instructors identify users by rank (SAK-24854). Instructors can:

Assign a rank to a specific user

Base a rank on a specified number of posts Include an image with a rank

Users with ranks will have the rank label/image displayed for each post; ranks based on

number of posts will also include the total number of posts for each user.

With this enhancement, a Ranks UI is added to Forums. From this Ranks page,

instructors can add ranks and view a list of existing ranks and users with each rank.

HelpThe Help tool has been updated, with new format/content based on the community-

authored Help content for Sakai 10.

    Message Bundle Manager

An additional administrative tool, Message Bundle Manager, is also included in this release.Developed by ANI, this tool provides the message bundle editing functionality found in the

Customizer tool. With the Message Bundle Manager, Sakai CLE functional administrators can

find and edit system message properties, which define UI text for Sakai components invarious languages.

    Portal Chat

This release includes Portal Chat, an experimental social networking tool. It provides an

instant messaging (IM) interface so users can communicate with other site members or withconnections created via the Profile tool. An enhancement for Sakai 10 (SAK-23349)adds

    video calling.

Note:In both community Sakai and the ANI Sakai CLE, Portal Chat is stealthed by default.

While it has been piloted at some institutions, it has not been thoroughly tested, and

widespread use of the tool in a production instance could have an impact on systemperformance. ANI has included Portal Chat in this release for exploratory purposes only, andwe do not currently support the tool.

ResourcesCapability for restoring deleted items has been added in this release (KNL-309). When at

least one item has been deleted from the site root folder or a subfolder, a Restore optiondisplays in the Actions menu for the folder. Choosing this option takes the user to a pagewhere the folders deleted items can be restored or permanently removed.

This feature requires configuration via property setting. Example:

    bodyPathDeleted@org.sakaiproject.content.api.ContentHostingService=/db/bodyContentDeleted

The property value is the destination for the deleted content in a Sakai instance.

    Roster2

With this release, the original Roster tool has been removed and is replaced byRoster2.Inboth community Sakai and the ANI Sakai distribution, Roster2 is named Roster. It retains

the user interface and functionality of the original Roster tool, while also adding newcapabilities:

Improved Profile integration--complete integration with the Profile tool lets users

request and manage connections and access full user profiles via Roster2.

UI configuration options--institutions can opt to display user IDs, hide specified

roles, hide user email addresses, and set the default Roster state (order of menubuttons and the page that displays upon initial access).

User-facing permissions--Roster permissions can be managed from the tool UI.

Site EditorAn enhancement for Site Editor lets instructors create groups that students can join through

a limited interface for the tool (SAK-22858). With this enhancement, instructors can:

Set a specific number of joinable groups to be created automatically Let users view group membership before or after joining

    Let users un-join a group

When students access the Site Editor tool, they'll see site information (term, site URL, and

site contact/email), along with groups to which they already belong and groups they mayjoin.

Tests & QuizzesThis release introduces several enhancements to expand and improve functionality:

The assessment settings interface has been streamlined and now utilizes ajQuery

    accordian widget (SAM-1733).

An Event Log page has been added (SAM-1368). Via this interface, instructors can

view student activity for all or selected assessments and also filter results bystudent; data can include student access and submission date/time, duration, anyerrors, and the IP address.

A new Extended Matching Items (EMI) question type, which involves a list of items

and a set of questions about the items, has been added (SAM-1943).

For assessments with "file upload" questions, instructors can access a separate

interface to download submissions for those questions, either for all site members orfor selected group/section members; minor UI improvements have also been made

    to all submission/scoring pages (SAM-2166).

Question pools shared with other users can now be unshared by those users with a
