DO YOU HAVE A STUDENT STARTING IN PREP NEXT YEAR?
If you have a student due to be starting school in 2019, please collect an enrolment form at the
General Office. Our cut off date for Prep 2019 is Friday 29th June 2018.
CHANGES TO SIGNING STUDENTS IN/OUT AT THE OFFICE
When signing a student in late or leaving early you no longer need to use the iPad at the Office. Please see an
Office staff member to have your child signed in/out and continue to collect a Pass In/Pass Out Card to give to
your child’s teacher. It is important that any students arriving late or departing early are accompanied by a
parent/guardian.
We need to keep our attendance records accurate in case of emergency.

Making Appointments for Parent/Teacher Interviews The online booking system for these interviews (to be conducted Monday 25th June from 12pm - 7pm) is now ‘live’ via your COMPASS log in. Please enquire at the Office if you need assistance. Monday 25th June will be our second Pupil Free Day for 2018 with students welcome to join interviews if parents feel that this is appropriate. You may like them to attend for a part or the whole of the allocated time, or not at all. Teachers are currently preparing Mid-Year Reports which will be issued on Friday 22nd June. We hope that by having the Reports prior to interviews this can help support purposeful and considered dialogue. Parents who have more than one child at Mano may need to book appointments promptly, if they are seeking to secure timeslots in close proximity. We ask that consecutive appointments are not made in order for you to get from one building to the next or in the event that interview schedules run over time.
Parent Cyber Safety Session with Robbie Noggler. Wednesday 13th June 6:00pm – 7:30pm in the Middles Hub We are pleased to have secured the services of Leading Senior Constable Robbie Noggler to deliver a session for Mano parents focusing upon how to keep kids safe online. Robbie will share his wealth of knowledge from over 20 years and will be available to support our school community with online safe practices. Earlier this year he talked with our Middle and Senior students. Confirmations of attendance are not required for this event. Please come along and feel free to bring a friend.
Road Safety We ask all parents to remind their children to reinforce safety and common sense when crossing roads on the way to and way home from school. The streets around our school can be very busy, especially at drop off and pick up times. I have heard of some reported near misses recently as children have taken unnecessary risks as cyclists, when riding scooters or as pedestrians. Let’s all act like ‘Safe Sally’!
Somers Camp Recently we had some of our students join with other local Geelong primary school students at a camp at Somers, south of Mornington. I heard that they had a lovely time participating in a range of activities not usually available to those who live in a large regional centre like Geelong. Making friends with students from other schools was also a highlight. Each year we are offered a fixed number of places on the Somers Camp so stay tuned for the next intake offer.
Mano Trivia Night – Saturday 28th July Tickets will be on sale from Tuesday 12th June and are likely to sell out quickly. This event can accommodate 140 people – 14 tables of 10 participants on each. Last year’s Trivia Night was a great success and helped raise funds for our school and its programs. To book visit: https://www.trybooking.com/389659
Prep Enrolments for 2019 It looks likely that we may receive more Prep enrolment requests for 2019 than we are able to accommodate. Enrolments will be confirmed for those in our Designated Neighbourhood Catchment Area (see map on our school website - http://www.manifold.vic.edu.au/), siblings of current Mano students and then those residing closest to the Catchment Area. Enrolments will be confirmed and communicated to families early in Term 3. If you have a Prep enrolment for 2019 please complete an enrolment form asap and return it to the General Office.
Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday – Monday 11th June This coming Monday 11th June is the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday and the school will be closed. Classes will resume on Tuesday 12th June and there will not be a weekly assembly next week. The following Monday, 18th June, will see two weeks of ‘Students of the Week’ certificates presented.
Grade 6 Camp: Tuesday 12th June – Friday 15th June On Tuesday next week we send off our Grade 6 students to camp at Maldon for a four day camping trip. We wish them a fabulous time and hope they enjoy some fine weather, especially for the bike riding components of the camp. A big thank you to the staff attending the camp who give up their time to make this memorable school experience possible.

New ICT Sub Committee Do you have an interest in ICT? Do you have a passion for making Mano the best school ever? Well if you do, you should be a part of the new ICT Sub Committee of School Council. The group will meet a couple of times a term to discuss and strategize Mano’s ICT and how it can be utilised across the school. Being involved with this group does not mean you’re a School Council member and does not mean you attend School Council meetings.
If you are interested, please contact me in the Senior Building.

Attention Holiday Program and Before & After School Care Users
Did you know Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate schemes end on 1st July 2018? Your information does not automatically rollover to the new Childcare Subsidy and you will not receive any subsidy if your assessment is not completed. TeamKids has created a step-by-step guide to ensure you're ready to go: 1. Set up a myGov account if you haven't already For information on how to create a myGov account, go to https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/online-help/create-mygov-account 2. Link your myGov account to Centrelink You'll need your CRN for this, which you can find in your TeamKids booking account. Log into your myGov account and go to Services to link your accounts. 3. Complete the Child Care Subsidy assessment
You will find this on your myGov Centrelink account homepage. Learn more about the new subsidy and how to transition. To estimate what your new Child Care Subsidy might be, go to the Payment and Services Finder.
Have to signed into Compass Yet? 3 weeks to go!
Before the end of Term 2 2018, we will be transitioning from Skoolbag to Compass for all electronic communication to parents. This includes absence notifications, parents receiving SMS Alerts/Push Notifications of upcoming school events, the school newsletter, general reminders, booking Parent/Teacher interviews etc. Parents will also be notified of any minor Sick Bay admissions via SMS. The Office will still ensure phone calls are made for all relevant Sick Bay admissions. We hope this transition will make communication with families more effective and reduce the number of printed notes sent home. Last December all families (except students who commenced in 2018) received a unique Compass log-in letter to setup their Compass Profile. Thank you to those families who have logged onto Compass and have started to submit absence notifications. Compass log-in details were sent home a few weeks ago via post to all families who are yet to log-in. So far only half of Mano families are on Compass. Please register today! If you need assistance logging in to Compass please contact Jacquie or Jessie in the Office. SKOOLBAG WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE FROM 1 JULY 2018 Jessie Burney Business Manager
