1. There are two Typography Alignment Compositions using the Sans Serif file.

1. There are four Typography Alignment Compositions using the Serif file.

• The Typography Alignment Compositions reproduce the designs shown on the assignment handout.

• You were to Scale and Reposition each individual letter to match the designs on the assignment handout.

• Areas and Letters should be filled with color to match the designs on the assignment handout.

• Things that will be assessed are accuracy, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Typography: An Introduction

Typefaces

Typefaces can be divided into two main categories:

Serif and Sans Serif.



Leading

Leading is line spacing. It's purpose is to allow the designer to alter the density of blocks of text.



Kerning

Kerning allows you to manually adjust the space between any two characters.



Type Justification

This is Typographic Alignment. The types of Justification are:

• Flush Left, Ragged Right

• Flush Right, Ragged Left

• Centered

• Justified

Adobe InDesign is a page layout software program used to create printed works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers and books.



Page Layout

Layout is another word for Composition.

Using Adobe InDesign you will be creating compositions using various Graphic Elements and Typographical Elements.

Visual Hierarchy

We use Visual Hierarchy to control what the viewer looks at first, then second, then third, etc.

We use all the Principles and Elements of Design when creating a page composition.



Tool Bar

Where are the ID Tools are found.

Selection ToolAllows you to select, scale objects.

Direct Selection ToolAllows you to select, individual Anchor

Points and edit an object.

Pen ToolAllows you to make lines and objects by creating Anchor Points and Line Segments.

Type ToolAllows you to add Typography.

Transformation ToolAllows you to select, scale and rotate

objects.

Stroke and Fill IconsAllows you to stroke and/or fill a line or

object.



Layers Palette

Allows you to organize and arrange the Graphic Elements and Typography in your page composition.



Swatches Palette

Allows you to select the stroke color of the Line Segment and/or

the fill color of the Closed Object or Typography in your page

composition.

All Images Must Be CMYK

All the images that you wish to place into an InDesign file must be changed from RGB Color Mode to CMYK Color Mode.


Files for Commercial Printing: Image Sizes

Image Resolution All the images you wish to place into an InDesign file must be 300 PPI.

Image DimensionsAll the images you wish to place into an InDesign file should be rescaled to the size they will appear in the InDesign Layout.

Source FilesAll the Graphic Elements placed into InDesign must be packaged with the InDesign file in the same folder.

Final Project

Produce a multi-page document in InDesign that shows and describes the development of 2 or 3 of your ANM 104 assignments. You will need to:

Scan your concept and compositional thumbnails and gridded drawings.

Properly Prep your Illustrator files for placement in InDesign.

Properly Prep your Photoshop files for placement in InDesign.

Write and format the description.
