except July & August

Greeting Brothers and Friends:

Well it is beginning to look like

winter weather is just around the corner. Guess we have to expect that in Michigan. It is sad to note that we have lost some of our

Brothers in the last month or so. They are now with that Great Architect in the sky. Fare thee

well Brothers, Fare thee well. There is activity in the Lodge

room as we have entered 4 new Brothers into the EA Degree in

Masonry. We will be doing FC work on the 26th of October at 7:30, come up and show your support as we bring these new

Brothers along on their journey into the craft. Do not worry about being rusty. You will be surprised

how fast things come back to you. We are getting ready to ring the bell for the Salvation Army, the date has not been set yet. It will be some time in December. If

you would like to take a turn at one of the buckets contact Bro. Jim Emery at 428-0338 he will be

more than happy to schedule you a turn.

We have had some of our

Brothers visiting other Lodges and have had quite a few visiting Brethren at our Lodge. Take time

out and come to Lodge and meet some of these Brothers and make

some new friends. See you in Lodge.

1st TUESDAY OF THE MONTH, 7:30 PM

Dear Brothers: Greeting from the East.

In October we Initiated 3 new Brothers into the light of Masonry. What a great evening that was.

We have another petition to be investigated upon and I am under the impression that we will have several more coming in soon. This will be making for a tremendous growth for Saline Lodge. Our greatest task to insure that they continue to enjoy the fellowship which is afforded.

I am scheduling the Fellow Craft Degree for Friday, November 20th at 7 pm. This should be another great evening and should continue the great friendship and fellowship within the Lodge and amongst the Brothers.

The Master Mason Degree will be on Saturday’s December 5th and 12th. Coffee & Donuts at 8:00 AM. Opening at 8:30 and begin the Degree work at 8:45. Both days we will be done early enough for you to enjoy the afternoon and evening with your families.

Remember this fall when we did the Child Identification Program in town. Well the word got out and they, the community, have rescheduled the program for December 6th from noon until 6 PM at the Community Recreation Center. We need much help and assistance in registration and completing the necessary requirements, as we are expecting a large turnout.

Looking forward to visiting with each of you. Please support your new Brothers.

Happy Thanksgiving. Tom Hyatt

1st THURSDAY OF THE MONTH, 7:00pm

Greetings, Brethren and Friends, As a result of the prospective

sale of the Ann Arbor Masonic Temple property, Golden Rule Lodge now meets at the Zal Gaz Grotto Club, 2070 West Stadium Blvd. in Ann Arbor.

A purchase agreement on the Temple has been reached and the sale should be closed by November 15. While this is a sad occasion for many of us—a regrettable result of social and economic conditions and also the failure of Ann Arbor Masons to do a better job of managing the Temple—I think we can also look at this situation as an opportunity for beginning a new phase in the life of Golden Rule Lodge.

Many are hopeful that, in time,

Ann Arbor Masons will be able to come together again on a fresh basis to secure modest and affordable facilities for Masonic activities. In the meantime, the serious financial strain of helping to keep the Temple afloat is now lifted from Golden Rule Lodge.

I hope you will attend lodge on

Nov. 5, at which time we will elect officers for the ensuing year. There are openings available, so do not be shy if you think you might like to serve as an officer of the lodge.

Have a great Thanksgiving, and I hope to see you in lodge soon! Fraternal regards, Bill Krebaum, W.M.

Greetings from Ypsilanti OES East:

The Annual Business Meeting on October 5th, 2009 is past.

A lot of thought and time had been put into our activities for the 2008-2009 year. The Grand Chapter session was October 13th – 15th in Battle Creek Michigan. The session “Back to the Future”, was lead by the Worthy Grand Matron, our own Priscilla Hankins. It was a great time to refresh friendships and to make new ones. I hope all who attended went home with new inspirations and new enthusiasms to give to their chapters.

On October 26th, 2009 at 7:30 PM a new core of officers will be installed. Come out and experience the delight of the beauty of the Order and meet the new Officers for pursuing year.

The first business meeting for the newly installed officers will be held on our regular 2nd Monday of the month, November 9th, 2009.

Let’s makes this year a success by attending activities and business meetings. Suggestion for new things to do and for the get together are welcomed and appreciated.

I would like to thank my officers and the York Right Bodies for the continued support throughout the difficult and challenging year, that together we faced. This being my last communication as your Worth Matron I would like to send my fraternal love to all in health, illness, or sorrow. GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS

Companions: During October we hosted the

Degrees of Past Master and Most Excellent Master on the 14th.

On Wednesday, October 28th we will be hosting the Royal Arch Degree. It will have been some time since that Degree has been portrayed in York Chapter. Please come out and enjoy the fine work being performed. We have many visitors coming in to assist us, you, in putting on the work. It will begin at 7 o’clock PM.

_______________________ values is key, together with a desire to share them with others. (a meal is more enjoyable when shared) This, in my opinion, is what has made our Craft successful. If you have not yet completed your

Master Mason degree, come on out and find out what it’s all about. Not only can we lead you to the Long Lost Master’s Word, we can help you learn a few lessons on the way. If you HAVE completed your MMD, then come on out & SHARE your knowledge. We have a new candidate for the several degrees of the Chapter & would love to see your smiling faces on the sidelines to help bring him more light. By the time you read this, he will have already received the Mark Master degree, but don’t let that stop you from sharing the next three! We now meet at the Calvary United Methodist Church at 1415 Miller Avenue on the third Monday of the month for our Stated, and the fourth Monday for degree nights. All work is at 7:00 pm. Uniform of the day is black trousers, white shirt, black tie. If you have a red jacket, wear it, if not, come as you are.

High Priest Address

Greetings Friends & Companions, Lately I have been impressed anew

with the timeliness and value of our Craft. During the recent move I came across some old records of the daily workings of our York Rite. Some of it Chapter, some Council, and some Commandery. Names, dates, events, ceremonies, and just everything that makes a Chapter function. i.e. receipts for stamps, reimbursements for events (dinner, entertainment, etc.) It (they) reminded me that WE have

been doing business for a very long time. Longer than you or your father have walked the earth, or his father, or his father, or even his father’s father all combined. Our message is compelling & poignant for ALL TIME. Truth is truth, plain and simple. Right is not wrong and never will be. Why have generations of men been

Royal Arch Masons? What makes US different from others? A desire for knowledge, deeper understanding, becoming closer to our God? All of this and more, as much more as there are men that make us, US! We desire. We seek. We wonder. All of this makes us human, and Companions. We struggle to make it through life.

We raise a family, go to church, work, make friends, pay bills, and always we feel there is something missing. As Masons, and more especially as Royal Arch Masons, we study our Volume of Sacred Law. We look again, we think, we pray. The list repeats itself with minor variations. What does it take to make something

like this last? A core group of people that not only share some history, but also a common ideal, together with a sense of just how important it is, and will be, to others. Awareness of our

It is an elaboration of a section of the Royal Arch dealing with a historical period of Jewish history, the principal characters being Nebuchadnezzar, Zedekiah and Jeremiah.

It is first referred to in the records of Columbian (N.Y.) Council No. 1, December 22, 1817, and at that date was conferred preceding the Royal and Select Master degrees. The ritual of the degree has been completely revised and dramatized in recent years, retaining only the old grips, passes and history. It is regarded as one of the most dramatic degrees in all Freemasonry when properly exemplified. The degree is not conferred in some Grand Council jurisdictions, especially in the Virginias. In other jurisdictions it is conferred once a year, during the time of the holding of the annual assembly of a Grand Council. A Council which does not, or cannot confer this degree, should surrender its charter, for it is a degree which really gives life to Council ritual work.

An Encyclopedia of Cryptic Masonry

Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, working together, have no intentions of surrendering their Charters to anyone in the near future. They will be rehearsing for the Super Excellent Master’s Degree on November 19th and December 17th and then be putting on the Degree on the 21st of January. All will be done in Ypsilanti and will begin at 7:00 PM.

We believe that it is much better for us to do the work than to have the Grand Council Officers come in and do the work, even though we all know and agree that they do a fantastic job. We want our candidates to know that we are doing the work for them.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Stay well. Fraternally,

Paul

STATED CONCLAVE

3rd MONDAY of the Month 7:00 PM

Greetings Sir Knights and Ladies!

Every Christian Mason should be a Knight Templar!

And in keeping with that statement and proof of our belief in it Ann Arbor Commandery will be sponsoring the Christmas Observance for the Battalion at our new meeting place, Calvary United Methodist Church at 1415 Miller Avenue in Ann Arbor on Sunday, December 20th. Please bring your family and friends to join with us. Attire is Full Commandery Uniform, minus sword.

If after Thanksgiving your Commandery uniform no longer fits, please attend in dark suit or sport coat with tie.

Commandery has as it’s intent that of strengthening your Christian ideals and beliefs. It gives you the inspiration, you must take the steps on your own. There are many awaiting to assist you on this journey.

You have not begun this phase of your Masonic journey yet? Step forward. Ask for a petition. The work is beautiful and the lessons taught are even more inspirational. The Orders, once you have received them, you will never forget. What beautiful rays of light they put into your heart and your life.

It is a shame that Masonry in Ann Arbor has had to take a step backwards due to financial restraints placed upon the Temple Association. We have temporarily lost that meeting place which keeps all of Ann Arbor Masonry working together.

The York Rite can be that building block upon which we can all work to again bring Masonry back to great strength in Ann Arbor. Brothers working together for the common good. That is what the York Rite is. Brothers, from many different Lodges in the area, working together for the common good. We would all like to see Masonry in Ann Arbor become bigger and stronger that it has ever been It means that we must all devote a little extra time and effort in working together for the common good.

A Pastor’s Business Card A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one

house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door.

Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote “Revelation 3:20” on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was the cryptic message, “Genesis 3:10.”

Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelations 3:20 begins “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” Genesis 3:10 reads, “I heard your voice in the garden and was afraid for I was naked.” Remember when the funniest jokes were the clean ones? They still are!

“A cheerful heart is good medicine” (Prov. 17:22)

I swore the portals close to guard, of the Masonic Temple. To rid the quarries, of their dross, to build each mystic wall

across. With body perfect, upright hear, and mind mature, in moral

art. By precept and example. On Yonder Book, that oath I took, and will I break it, NEVER. But stand by this, and this, and this, Forever and Forever. (Point to Great Lights, Lesser Lights and the letter G. One motion

with each this.)

I swore the chastity to guard, of women, true and tender. Of Masons’s widow, wife, or child, this mother, sister,

undefiled. To them I pledge, a Brothers love, by Him who rules, the

Lodge above. To be a true defender. On Yonder Book, that oath I took, and will I break it, NEVER. But stand by this, and this, and this, Forever and Forever. (Give grand hailing sign. One motion with each this.)

My Brother, these are your vows, be they your cares. And may such aid be given, in answer, to your earnest

prayers. And that you may ever do or dare, all that God’s gracious

laws enjoin. On Yonder Book, these oaths We took and will We break

them, NEVER. But, We will stand by this, and this, Forever and Forever. (You and candidate together give step, dg, and sign of each degree.

One with each this.)
