GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
• Aligned to five pillars of the National Substance Misuse Strategy National Drug Strategy (Interim) 2009-2016, Supply, Prevention Treatment and Rehabilitation and Research from a local community perspective.
• Aligned to the Steering Groups Report on a National Substance Misuse Strategy (2012).
• Aligned to Healthy Ireland - A Framework for Improved Health and Well Being (2013-2025)
• Adhering to public funding standards and processes.

• To build awareness of alcohol related harm to both the drinker and others
• To raise the awareness of effective measures /sustainable actions under each of the pillars –
• To explore effective measures to promote community engagement in the Local Community Action on Alcohol Planning Process
• To develop an action planning template to assist communities to develop their own Local Alcohol Action Plan
• To ensure adequate monitoring, review and evaluation measures are built in to the development of Action Plans

• ASC - two full day facilitated planning workshops to develop the Local Alcohol Action Plan
• Inclusion of a member of staff from the Taskforce on the Alcohol Subcommittee is a requirement for inclusion in the Project.
• ASC present the draft Local Alcohol Action Plan to the Task Force for approval &/or amendment as appropriate
