1. All mandatory tests shall be carried out as per ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code ASME
Section-II. Additional tests shall be conducted as indicated below:

2. Each length of pipe shall be hydro-tested at shop as per
the codes/Standards.
3. Blind flanges on SS Pipe lines shall be to ASTM A 240-TP 316. Stub
ends shall be used at flanged connections.
4. All branch connections shall be wrought (seamless) or forged steel based
on the size and availability based on ASTM Standards.

5. Piping System under Sl. No.1.1, 1.2, 1.3 & 1.4 shall have IBR Approval.
Boiler feed discharge under item no.1.5 shall also be under IBR Approval.
6. All painting with primer coats (2 coats each) shall be provided for the
piping and all hangers.
7. All pipes, fittings and flanges shall be rubber lined as per IS 4682 with
shore hardness of 75 DEG +/- 5 DEG.
8. All materials shall be galvanised as per IS 4736.
9. The following clauses are applicable for supply of Pipes, Tubes & Fittings
Tubes/Pipes shall be manufactured may be cold or hot finished with suitable heat treatment. Steel shall be fully killed All Cold Drawn Carbon steel Pipe shall be supplied in Normalised condition. Carbon steel pipes used for pipe bends shall be supplied in Normalised Condition All alloy steel pipes to be supplied shall be in Normalised and Tempered condition. The chemical composition for above material shall meet ASME Sec-II/ Code cases/IBR requirements For carbon steel tubes & pipes the maximum carbon content shall be 0.25 for thickness < 20mm and 0.30 for T 20mm Additionally for Grade 91 & Grade 92 the following requirement shall be met.
No delta ferrite
N/Al weight percentage ratio 3 C+N weight 0.14% max. Al limit to 0.02%
Grade 91 and Grade 92 shall be normalized at 1040C - 1080 C & tempered at 740 C - 760 C. Grade 23 shall be normalized at 1040 C - 1080 C & tempered at 740 C - 760 C. All austenitic stainless steel shall be solution annealed In addition to material specifications, Hardness of pipe & tubes shall meet IBR requirement. Hardness for Grade 23 shall be 220 HB max and for

Grade 91 and Grade 92 shall be 200 to 250 HB. Hardness shall be measured on each pipe & fitting at least three (3) locations along the circumference of pipe/fitting and recorded.
The microstructure of Grade 91 & 92 shall be fully martensite without any delta ferrite One (1) Impact test shall be carried out on each heat of Grade 91, Grade 92 and Grade 23 steels of thickness 16 mm and greater. Impact testing (CVN) test specimens (3 specimens) shall be prepared from one end of one pipe length of each heat . The specimens should be longitudinally oriented with notch axis perpendicular to pipe surface. The product is acceptable if the minimum absorbed energy of 41J at room temperature (21 C). One set of photomicrographs randomly selected from each heat shall be carried out on Grade 91 and Grade 92 pipes. These micrographs should be at a magnification of 100 x & 500x and be of quality to clear to show martensite & ferrite if present. Presence of ferrite is a cause of rejection of batch of the product
