Annotated Bibliography Secondary Sources Abrams, Irwin. "The Nobel Peace Prize and Jimmy Carter." The Antioch Review 62.2 (2004): 355. JSTOR. Web. 12 Oct. 2014. This scholarly journal article assesses the purpose of the 2002 Carter Nobel Peace Prize as well as puts into perspective the award itself. The author, Irwin Abrams was a distinguished history professor at Antioch College that thoroughly explored the field of peace research and specifically the Nobel Peace Prize. He bases the article on research pertaining to the nomination and decision of candidates by the Norwegian Committee. The focus is on why Carter did not receive the award in 1978 following what some might call his most memorable stance for world peace in mediating at the Camp David Summit leading to the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. Finding that it was impossible to award Carter then, Abrams states that this in no way means he wasn’t deserving and was therefore nominated consecutively after 1978 until being awarded the prize in 2002. Though subjective and biased in praising Carter and the content of his character, the article gives valid insight into his humanitarianism and work toward peace leading to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize. Ash, Timothy Garton. "Egypt's Hold on the U.S." Los Angeles Times. Los Angeles Times, 08 Mar. 2012. Web. 30 Oct. 2014. This article analyzes the relationship Egypt between and the United States following the 1978 Camp David Summit. The author, Timothy Garton Ash, is a professor of European Studies at the University of Oxford, Isaiah Berlin Professorial Fellow at St Anthony’s College, Oxford, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University, as well as a world renowned author. He bases this article on travels to Egypt as well as an
