ANNOUNCEMENTS SIMON WILE AWARD. This award recognizesoutstanding leadership and continuous contributions in the field of consultation-liaison child and adolescent psychiatry. These contributions should have national or international stature and clearly demonstrate lasting effects. The contributions may be in the areas of teaching, research, program development, direct clinical service, advocacy, or administrative commitment. The award, a plaque and $1,000, is presented at the Annual Meeting. The award recipient also participates in the Simon Wile Symposium. The award is named for Simon Wile, M.D., a renowned pediatrician and lifelong supporter of child and adolescent psychiatry. Nominations for the 1996 award should be submitted by August 1, 1995, to Joel Zrull, M.D., Chair, Committee on Memorials and Awards, AACAp, 3615 Wisconsin Ave., N.W:, Washington, DC 20016. HUMANITARIAN AWARD. The AACAP Humanitarian Award was first given in 1992 to Irving and Helen Schneider in recognition of their philanthropic support for children and adolescents' medical and mental health treatment. The Humanitarian Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the well-being of children or families on a national or international level. This leadership can include personal individual efforts, advocacy, or significant financial support for programs. The plaque recognizing this award is presented at the Opening Plenary of the Annual Meeting. Nomination letters for the 1996 award should be submitted by August 1, 1995, to Joel Zrull, M.D., Chair, Committee on Memorials and Awards, AACAP, 3615 Wisconsin Ave., N.W:, Washington, DC 20016. GEORGE TARJAN AWARD. This award recognizes a child and adolescent psychiatrist and Academy member who has made significant contributions in a lifetime career or a single seminal work to the understanding or care of those with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. These contributions must have national and/or international stature and clearly demonstrate lasting effects. The contributions may be in the areas of teaching, research, program development, direct clinical service, advocacy, or administrative commitment. The Award will be presented at the Annual Meeting. George Tarjan, M.D., served as the Academy's President from 1977-79 and was renowned for his pioneering work in the field of mental retardation. Nomination letters for the 1996 award should be submitted by August 1, 1995, to Joel Zrull, M.D., Chair, Committee on Memorials and Awards, AACAp, 3615 Wisconsin Ave., N.W:, Washington, DC 20016. ELAINE SCHLOSSER LEWIS AWARD. The Academy presents the Elaine Schlosser Lewis Award for Research on Attention Deficit Disorder of $5,000 for the most significant article published in the Journalofthe American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by a child and adolescent psychiatrist on attention deficit disorder in the July-June issues. This award is named in memory of Dr. Owen Lewis' late mother, Elaine Schlosser Lewis, who was a teacher and advocate of children. All notices must be received no later than months before thefirst day ofthe month ofdesired publication. Requests, typed double-spaced, as one concise paragraph, shouldbe sent directly to John F.
