Annual Report 2015 | Indonesia Global Compact Network 1

Dear IGCN Members,

Thank you for making 2015 another exciting year for us. We did more multi-stakeholder collaborative actions and delightfully welcome the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which was announced on 25 September 2015. We are inspired by the landmark agreements reached last year on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our sincere

thanks to IGCN members and the business community as a whole for the input and constructive role you played during Private Sector Leaders Roundtable (PSLR) on Post-2015 Development Agenda in 2013 and 2014. Now it is time to move forward to implement and achieve the targets of SDGs collaboratively.

As the key initiative of Business for Peace (B4P), another biggest Interfaith Mass Wedding in the world was conducted last year for under-privileged Indonesian families as an enforcement and protection of their civil rights. This program allowed 5,115 families to obtain marriage and more than 10.000 birth certificates in process, which will provide them access to education, healthcare, public services and formal job opportunities. IGCN also fully participated in the National Social Solidarity Day conducted by Minister of Social Affair as the coordinator of Mass Wedding Program focusing in the eastern part in Indonesia.

In recognition to IGCN’s role, we received Certificate of Appreciation formally presented by Minister of Social Affairs at the National Social Solidarity Day celebration.

In cooperation with our partners, we continued our training and workshop on Business and Human Rights based on UN Guiding Principles. As the follow up action, we established Business & Human Rights Working Group (B&HRWG) to increase the awareness on human rights related to business activity within greater private sectors.

With the launch of SDGs, we started the promotion and socialization program by conducted Business Sustainability Forum (BSF) I and II in 2015. The forum was conducted in cooperation with member NGO and Academia.

We also co-organized the 4th Social Responsibility (SR) Asia International Conference. The conference introduced SDGs and discussed the challenges and approaches in the implementation to make the county cleaner, greener and more sustainable. We are committed to work in partnership to become force for change from the ground up.

Thank you again for all the support and looking forward to working together with you for a better future.

COP and COE Workshop (12 & 16 June 2015)

The workshops were conducted by IGCN for business and non-business respectively as part of the commitment to report their implementation in Global Compact (GC) ten principles.

Reporting has been one of the problems as the signatories generally do not recognize the benefit for doing it. The SMEs especially also raised the issue of lacking in resources (people, capability, internet access).

Communication on Engagement (COE) workshop was held at Wahana Visi Indonesia attended by nine participants from five organizations. Communication on Progress (COP) workshop took place at the Philip Kotler Theater, MarkPlus Inc. attended by 23 participants from 15 corporations.

Four corporations (Asia Pulp & Paper, Dunamis Organization Service, PT. Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Eagle High Plantation) shared how they develop their COP reports, challenges in writing the COP, the benefits, and also the feedback from UNGC office. The most challenging part in COP writing is to collect internal data during assessment and evaluation period. However, they also recognize that company commitment to support Global Compact Principles raises company credibility and trust from the stakeholders.
