In 2011 we celebrated 129 years of ministry as a church. Over those years, God has truly done some amazing things in our community through the people of Cottonwood Creek. However, 2011 stands out as perhaps the most outstanding year in the history of our church. Today, Cottonwood Creek has our main campus in Allen, with two other campuses in Denison and Nevada.

On the following pages, you will be able to:

Celebrate What God Has Done for Families! In 2011, Cottonwood Creek embarked on a clear focus of strengthening families through clear and direct discipleship of parents and their children. We call the ministry Faith@Home and the impact on families continues to be seen and demonstrated week after week. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

Celebrate What God Has Done In Our Church! In 2011, Cottonwood Creek experienced amazing growth in membership, discipleship, salvations, baptisms and giving. (Acts 2:38-47)

Celebrate What God Has Done for the Poor! In 2011, Cottonwood Creek accomplished more than we ever had before in clothing, feeding and ministering to the poor. (Romans 10:14-15)

Celebrate What God Has Done In Missions! In 2011, Cottonwood Creek surpassed our previous high-water marks in mission sending, going and giving. (Acts 1:8)

As I reflect back on my 16 years as the Pastor at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church, I can truly say that 2011 was the most active and blessed year of my ministry. I feel like we lived the words of the Apostle Paul, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Is there more? Absolutely! As I pray and write this letter, I continue to sense God asking our church if we will be just as faithful in 2012. With unified hearts, prayer and commitment, we answer, “Here we are Lord, send us!”

Your Blessed Pastor,John Mark

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and

forget not all His benefits”

Psalm 103:2

a message from Scott Sanford

Salvations, baptisms, serving widows, feeding orphans, sharing the gospel, supporting new churches, learning the Bible, worshipping the Father, building families, comforting the hurting, equipping youth for their future and training children in the right way are just some of the ministry activities that took place through Cottonwood Creek in 2011.

God was good to us in every way last year and scripture tells us to forget not all that He has done for us and through us.

Because of the faithful giving of tithes and offerings and His blessings, the ministries of Cottonwood Creek were active, vibrant, and productive. Below are just some snippets of good news from last year:

• 176 Baptisms• Budget giving is up 12%• Missions giving is up 11%• 75% of Sports Ministry participants are from

outside Cottonwood Creek• 400 Kids attended summer sports camps• Cowboys Stadium, Dallas Convention Center, and

Union Gospel Mission all hosted our worship team• 600 Adults attended a Milestone Class• 1,662 Volunteers at The Gift weekend• 8,300 Harvest packs to plant crops in Africa• 1,478 Operation Christmas Child boxes• 50 new members and 22 baptized at

Denison Campus• Nevada Campus doubled weekly attendance• 1,343 app downloads• First TV commercial• Pastor’s Inspirational Moments on radio

These are just a small fraction of all the things that God has done at Cottonwood Creek over the past 12 months. Please pause for just a moment…right now…and say “Thank you Father” for His amazing goodness and faithfulness

as we forget not all His benefits.

Faith@HomeAt Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church we want to come alongside and support

every person on their faith journey. We believe that true “authentic” faith

must be intentional and thrive both inside and outside the walls of the church

building. The term “Faith@Home” is used to represent this quest for a faith that

permeates all aspects of our lives: is lived out in our daily activities, is modeled

in our homes and communities and passed down to the next generation.

2011 Highlights• More than 600 adults have attended one of

our Milestone Classes

• More than 700 children/youth participated

in a Faith@Home class or retreat event

• Improved spiritual survey results across

every category from Dec 2010 to Dec 2011

Worship and Arts MinistryWorship and Arts Ministry’s vision for 2011 was “Love

God, Love People, Change the World.” The simplicity of

this theme focused the attention of the worship team

to the mind and heart of God. He desires, first and

foremost, that all attention is on Him. If the worship

team loses their focus on God as the center of worship,

then their response to Him is all in vain. The second

action is to love and take care of the community.

Worship and Arts strives to care for others within the

ministry, and strives to reach outside the four walls

of the church and minister to those in need. God has

changed the world because of His love.

Over 150 people serve through music or technical arts

during Worship each Sunday.

The Worship and Arts ministry desires to passionately know God through the arts.

Each week the worship team consistently prays together, prepares together and

then leads the congregation together with excellence, humility and love.

Life Groups are the core of our church body at Cottonwood Creek. It’s within the context of these small groups that our people really become “the church” that is described in the New Testament.

Adult MinistryIn a large population, creating a sense of

community and connecting with others is

important. In the church, it’s crucial. Life

Groups are small groups within the larger

church in which people of similar interests

take care of “one another” in life. In a large

church, it’s important that community exists in

order for relationships to be real and relevant.

Life Group is…L - Learn, Learning God’s Word

I - Involve, Involvement in Ministry

F - Fellowship, Fellowship with Believers

E - Evangelism, Sharing Our Faith

2 Corinthians 5:20 reminds us that we are ambassadors for Christ. Being “On Mission” is not a program of the church, but is our calling to represent Christ in every area of our life and make disciples of all we encounter. We rejoice in the fact thatGodisusingourchurchtofulfillthisgreatcalling.
