AGM 2018-2019 6

REPORTS - President Submitted by: Claudia Di Nucci I am so fortunate to have supported arts opportunities in North Etobicoke, along with my fellow Directors, throughout the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Together we worked to honour the legacy of Dr. Agnes Ann Curtin by providing instruction and exhibition space at Franklin Carmichael Art Centre and nearby recreation centres, libraries, retail centres and galleries. We proudly developed and facilitated classes, workshops and camps for over 250 adults, teens and children. Our shows encouraged members, local artists and emerging artists of all ages, to exhibit their work. We are honoured to have had 80 artists exhibit with us, many for the first time. Community engagement initiatives have served to increase participation and establish Franklin Carmichael Art Centre as place for art and art-making. From May through to July 2019, we facilitated The WorkShoppe, a signature project of Cultural Hotspot produced in partnership with the City of Toronto. The project mentored and employed female artists/creators in North Etobicoke to facilitate free weekly art workshops for the public in local retail hubs with a culminating photo exhibition. We are proud to share that the project engaged over 1000 individuals. Our library of art history and instructional materials was reopened and made available to our membership during all operating hours of Franklin Carmichael Art Centre. Various degrees and awards belonging to Dr. Curtin were displayed in the Library to support facility tours. Our collection of paintings, donated by FCAG members, was catalogued and displayed throughout the Centre. Thank you to our membership of over 67 years, which includes single, family and lifetime members. Our members support Franklin Carmichael Art Group as students, exhibitors, artist instructors, Board Members and volunteers. We proudly hosted membership appreciation events to express our gratitude. I have had the pleasure of working with Gloria Baird, our Office Administrator, Directors and volunteers. Without your dedication, Franklin Carmichael Art Group could not provide for and inspire our community. Our talented artist instructors continued to empower our community members to follow their creative journey. Thank you to our partners, funders, donors and supporters. Looking ahead, I am excited to see who will join our Committees and Board of Directors. I look forward to an exchange of new ideas, perspectives and skills. Together, we will continue to honour Dr. Curtin’s purpose, by growing arts opportunities at Franklin Carmichael Art Centre and throughout North Etobicoke.

REPORTS - Facilities Submitted by: John Bottos, Chair of Facilities Committee General maintenance was provided by a small dedicated group of FCAG members. Special thanks go to everyone that continue to help keep the FCAG facilities clean and have assisted during the winter months with snow removal, salting etc. Without their help it would be an impossible task to keep the facilities going. Thanks go to Joe Linardi, Clark Kristensen, Rob Renyolds, Charlotte Bowman, Catherine DeMontmorency and to everyone that have given of their time. Thank you all for your ongoing effort in keeping FCAG going! Repairs included:

- the replacement of one of the doors to the storage sheds behind the Gallery - One of the thermostats in the Gallery was replaced - Problems continued and an electrician was called in to help solve the problem (no extra cost to

FCAG) - New pressure valve had to be replaced in one of the toilets. After it was installed both toilets were

in full functioning order. - New sandwich boards were purchased to replace the old ones we have been using to advertise

the art shows and other events that occur at FCAG. They are much lighter and easier to handle. City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation department maintained Curtin Park; cutting the grass, planting seasonal flowers in the large flower pot on the driveway's edge and cleaning, mulching and planting in the flower beds around the facilities. City of Toronto staff, Barbra MacLean and Paul Iofrida, are the contacts that we use when facility issues arise. A new water heater had to be installed when the old one stopped working. They have been informed of the Gallery roofing issue. A temporary patch has been placed on the areas where the roof is leaking. They have stated the roof shingles will be replaced. Materials have to be assessed for asbestos content. I will continue to be in contact with them, but as of yet, work has not progressed. The trees around the property are mature and we had several large branches coming down. Thankfully no damage was done to the main building and any of the outer buildings. The Forestry Dept of the city responded quickly and removed all debris. I want to thank the city for its continued efforts in helping maintain FCAG so we can continue to fulfil Ann Curtis's mandate.
