Ignite Your Practice with Purpose. This is your 2018 Iowa State Bar Association Annual Meeting theme. What exactly do we mean when we say Ignite Your Practice with Purpose? Simply, this is a moment where you as a member of Iowa’s legal community can take your practice to the next level. Whether a seasoned attorney or new to the profession, this is a benchmark moment in your practice.

For younger members, this is the moment to ask yourself, “Have I created a foundation for success?” We hope you answered, “Yes.” Even those that stand on a solid career foundation will find further stability and success in knowledge. This conference provides just that. Knowledge. Knowledge in

the absorption of information the impressive CLE programing provides. Knowledge in the discovery of services available to you to construct an effective and efficient work environment. Knowledge in the interactions had with your fellow Iowa attorneys. By being at this year’s annual meeting, you are taking a substantial step towards a successful future in law.

To those attendees who have been in the trenches of the practice of law for decades, first, we salute and thank you for your dedication to the profession. It’s because of professionals like yourself that we have the outstanding bar we have today. For you, Ignite Your Practice with Purpose may conjure up different meanings. As your years as a practicing lawyer wind down, this conference is an excellent opportunity to make sure you’re prepared for the future. May this event ignite a spark to finish strong and be a reminder that it’s never too late to solidify your practice and enhance Iowa’s legal community. By being at this year’s annual meeting, you are doing just that.

Attendees who find themselves in the prime of their career may benefit the most from attending this conference. This is a perfect moment to take a look in the mirror to evaluate your career. It’s also the ideal time to look ahead. The tools to assist you in further developing your practice can be found right here in this building. By being at this year’s annual meeting, the practice you dream of can become a reality.

For all, we hope you truly enjoy the programming, social activities and sense of community during these three days. The Annual Meeting Committee and ISBA staff have worked tirelessly to produce a conference of which you can be proud. We hope you walk away further informed, with additional purpose and feel more connected to the association.

Please seek out myself, Assistant Executive Director Harry Shipley, or any other ISBA staff member if you have any questions or feedback about your experience at the 2018 Annual Meeting.

Thank you,

Dwight Dinkla ISBA Executive Director
