COURSE DESCRIPTION
The use of robotic technology in Pediatric Urology has been steadily evolving since its early adaptation in 2000. It is now a part of standard armamentarium in Adult Urology, and Pediatric Urology is following the trend. This educational initiative is intended to educate and transfer the techniques and technologies of the robotic system to Pediatric Urology fellows and practicing Pediatric Urologists for effective and safe use in clinical practice settings.
EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
The use of robotic technology in the pediatric population is slowly increasing due to its advantages over the conventional surgery in terms of recovery and reduced need of postoperative pain medication. This technology needs to be learned in a systematic way for its safe application, patient selection and improved pediatric patient outcomes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this course, attendees should be able to:1. Describe the use and focused patient selection
process for Pediatric Robotic Urological surgery.2. List the technical details and tips and tricks of
Pediatric Robotic Urological surgery.3. Integrate the newer Pediatric Urological
applications for experienced robotic surgeons.4. Identify the safe application of technology and
avoid complications.5. Describe the refinements in surgical technology and
newer advances.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience includes fellows and practicing physicians specializing in pediatric urology, pediatric surgery, pediatric urologic surgery, and urologic surgery.
