E Society‟s MUDHOJI COLLEGE, PHALTAN Dist – Satara NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) Activities for Academic Year 2012-13 to 2016-17 Introduction National Service Scheme (NSS) was started in Year 1979-80 in Mudhoji College, Phaltan to create awerness about Society, Country& Universe among the students. Values like patriotism, Country allegiance, dignity of labor, Social harmony, Universal brotherhood, preservation of historical and cultural heritage, preservation of environment, national integration are inculcated among the students. Every year 200 Volunteers are registered in NSS unit. The NSS unit brought fame and glory to the college, when it received the first ever ‘INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL AWARD’ (issued by Gove. of India) in 1994 for the Best NSS unit. NSS Programme officers and Volunteers have received various Awards at university/State/ National level. Since last four years (2012-2016) , NSS unit has organized regular activities like celebration of Anniversaries of National Leaders and various Special Days etc. It has also participated in Social, Environmental, and National Special Activities & Campaigns recommended by the Gove. The NSS unit has also organized workshop and Rallies to create awareness of the Women empowerment and Security. Various special Camps at College, University and State level have been conducted by the college. Especially in the period mentioned above, many Innovative programmes have been conducted by the unit. Various Government, Non-Government and Social institutes have participated and supported all these Activities. Last Year (10 th to 16 th May 2017), we have conducted State Level Special Camp at Villege BHOSRE, Tal – Khatav, Dist- Satara. 300 volunteers were participated in this Special Camp. Our NSS unit was Felicitated as „An Outstanding Unit‟ by the Pro Vice Chancellor of Shivaji University, Koihapur for its overall Outstanding performance in 2016-17 in Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony – organized by National Service Scheme, Shivaji University, Koihapur .
