2.5 Feedback from KVK to Research System

Name of KVK Feedback

Dhar Observing the deficiency of S in soybean, it should be fortified with other complex fertilizer as per the recommendation

Dhar Post emergence herbicides to be evolved for maize and other kharif cereals.

Dhar Readymade formulation of herbicide and insecticides to be evolved in the compatible and feasible manner.

Dhar Satisfied with social media for solving and diagnosis the problem instantly.

Dhar Suitable for small holding farming community. Mechanization to be developed.

Dhar Technology found suitable but organic inputs not available frequently. Hence viability testing kit to be developed.

Dhar Keeping the deficiency of Zinc in cereal it should be fortified with other complex fertilizer as per the recommendation of crops.

Dhar Microbial testing kit to be developed.

Dhar More confirmation of azolla feed supplement should be tested.

Dhar As per the market demand more than 60 g seed weight of Kabuli chickpea to be developed

4.2. Feedback from KVK to Research System.

Name of KVK- Dhar Feedback basic of OFT on Technology Tested

Assessment of Sulphur through Bentonite Sulphur in

Soybean.

Observing the deficiency of S in soybean it should be fortified with other complex fertilizer as per the

recommendation

Assessment of weed management for moisture

conservation and greater efficiency of input nutrients in

Maize.

Post emergence of herbicides to be evolved for maize and other kharif cereals.

Assessment of management of weeds for minimizing the

losses in Soybean.

Readymade formulation of herbicide and insecticides to be evolved in the compatible and feasible manner.

Assessment of INM on yield of Maize on STV based Technology found suitable.

Assessment of Tank mixture of herbicides and insecticide

for timely control of Weeds & insects in Soybean

Technology found suitable.

Assessment of plane minerals and chelated minerals

mixture supplement on milk production in buffalo

Technology found suitable.

Assessment of anti stress Z-STRESS in backyard poultry Technology found suitable.

Assessment of effectiveness of visual based technical

information dissemination through social media

(Whatsapp, face book, etc.)

Satisfied with social media for solving and diagnosis the problem instantly.

Assessment of sowing method to improve productivity of

Wheat

Suitable for small holding farming community. Mechanization to be developed.

Assessment of management of pod borer in Chickpea

Technology found suitable but organic inputs not available frequently. Hence, viability testing kit to be developed.

Assessment of dewormer in Buffaloe calf Technology found suitable.

Assessment of Zinc through Zinc Sulphate in Wheat

Keeping the deficiency of Zinc in cereal it should be fortified with other complex fertilizer as per the

recommendation of crops.

Assessment of use of liquid bio-fertilizer and

micronutrient for seed treatment in Chickpea Technology found suitable. Microbial testing kit to be developed.

Assessment of Azolla as a feed supplement in cattle More confirmation of azolla feed supplement should be tested.

Assessment of high yielding varieties of Kabuli Chickpea As per the market demand more than 60g seeded Kabuli chickpea to be developed

Success Story: 1 Name of KVK : Dhar

Title: Enhanced income & secured livelihood through cucumber cultivation

Introduction: Cucumber has been traditionally cultivated by the farmers of Nimar region of Dhar district in their fields as a mixed crop

with cotton during the Kharif season (June to October). Kharif crop of cucumber are harvested during rainy season and fetch a good price

due to large production during the peak season. However, there is high market demand of cucumber during this season in the states like

Rajasthan, Maharastra, Gujrat, New Delhi etc but efforts were not made by the farmers to cultivate cucumber scientifically. A transformation

happened in the life of Shri Mahadev S/o Rajnath Patidar of village Lolari, during 2015, when he attended various trainings programmes at

the KVK and interacted with the scientists. He came to know about various hybrid varieties of cucumber matching very well in cotton-wheat

cropping system prevailing in Dharampuri block. Further, he also helped to obtain quality seeds and liquid fertilizers & use of plasticulture

in hi- tech farming. He grown cucumber hybrid Swan chiatai in one acre with the investment of Rs 48, 000/-

KVK intervention: Sensing the possibility of growing the cucumber and its economic value the KVK intervened by imparting trainings,

technical know- how etc, to many interested farmers. The technical guidance given by the KVK scientist resulted positively and this made

him to take up cucumber cultivation in a onr acre and his crop soon hit the markets and earned him a good fortune as the produce fetched a

much better income than the seasonal crops like cotton, soybean, maize etc..

Output: On an average he could harvest 240 q/acre of cucumber which were earning a net profit of Rs. 1, 92, 000/-.

Outcome: Now, Shri Mahadev Patidar has been implimemting scientific technologies with other crops like chilli, maize, cotton etc. Thus

he has secured his livelihool and generating more employment to the land less farmers.

Impact: Today, with his success, not only the Lohari villagers but also farmers from the neighboring villages viz, Bank pura, Semalda,

Dhegda and Dasoda also took up cucumber cultivation and getting higher profit.

Case study-1

Title : Organically produced vegetables & spices sustained the production & secured the livelihood of tribal women of SHGs

Introduction : Dhar is tribal dominated district consisting three agroclimatic zones under which more or less resources are available in time for

their livelihood security especially of tribal farmers & farm women. The farmers are having very less land holding up to 0.5 to 3.0 ha in the village

& soil fertility is very poor resulting low yield of crops, vegetables & spices.

KVK intervention : A SHG of 12 farm women is formed by KVK with the help of DSC NGO of Gujrat working in Dhar. The SHG made

collection & saved Rs. 62643/- during the year. They motivated for organic farming & got on campus & off trainings by KVK Scientists for Vermi

coposting and made exposure visits to improve soil fertility and organic farming in small holding & motivate to other farmers/ women. By the help

& inspiration by KVK Scientists Smt Khajuri bai of the village provided the land to SHG for starting the project of Vermi composting. All the

members decided to work together in group participatory approach and each member will help for 2 hours for the collection of farm waste, cow drug

and other required material. Initially they prepared 5 beds of 10X5X2 feet. They purchased required equipments and worms @ Rs 250/- per kg, in

this way they purchased 10 kg worms with the help of KVK.

Output : All the 10 members performed all the necessary duty regularly. In this way they prepared 20 quintal compost during six months.

They distributed among them 2.0 quintals compost to each member and used in cultivation of Ginger, Chili and Cucurbitaceous vegetables.

Outcome : During another 6 months they prepared 40 quintals Vermi compost which was sold @ 500/quintal to other farmers. In this way they

earned Rs 20,000/- by vermicompost. Presently farmers of the village are only using organic products in their small holding. They are selling

organic vegetables to nearby Market of Kukshi at higher prices. Data collected from SHG members by KVK that Ginger was sold @ Rs 100/- per

kg which is preferred by the consumers. In this way they are getting 30% more income. Others farmers of the same village & other villages are

making contacts to the SHG for knowing the technology.

Impact : At present in addition to SHG members, 23 more farm & farm women are doing organic farming & selling Vermicompost & worms

at reasonable price. In addition to organic farming they are getting additional income by selling vermicompost & worms for secured livelihood. In

the village 12.5 ha area has come under organic farming & farmers of other three adjoining villages are moving towards organic farming &

preparing organic products like vermin wash, vermin compost. Farmers are growing others cucurbitaceous, leafy vegetables organically.
