Coffee Science (Activity grant)
September 20th 2013 (Starting date)
Coffee Science has place almost monthly. It is an open and outdoors place for students,teachers and researchers to share experiences in science, study and personal life. Theresearchers are interviewed about their researches, memories of their student years,experiences, etc.
General numbers:• 7 researchers as invited.• 280 attendees approximately.• 200 liters of coffee sponsored by the chapter.• 10 kilograms of cookies sponsored by the chapter.

6th National meeting of Mexico chapters(Aditional grant + Activity grant)
November 20th, 2013
In order to commemorate the Coffee Science anniversary, a national meeting of studentchapters was organized. This meeting took place in University Center for Exact Scienceand Engineering of Universidad de Guadalajara, where students from ten different OSAand SPIE student chapters, from all over the country, were gathered together, so theycould know each other and share their experiences as members of the student chapters.There were also many cultural and scientific activities.
Meeting activities:• 2 conferences.• A round table. • Poster session.• Khet tournament.• First national Coffee Science.• 2 work meeting of chapters. • Anniversary celebration.• Social meeting.
General numbers:• 3 days of activities.• 10 OSA & SPIE chapter attendees.• 20 chapter officers attendees.• 150 attendees to our events.

Winter workshops (Activity grant + Visiting lecturer grant)
January, 2014Guadalajara, Jal. Mexico
Workshops organized by chapter members. There were five workshops. The subjectswere: PCB design, data acquisition with arduino, scientific computation, Linux and NILabview.
The workshop’s teachers were chapter’s members, and the main idea was transmitknowledge of some tools used for scientific and technological projects. We had attendeesfrom bachelors, masters and doctoral students.
General numbers:• 60 people attendees.• 5 workshop.• 100 hours of courses.

During the computation and electronic festival in University Center for Exact Science andEngineering of Universidad de Guadalajara, we exposed the chapter activities andprojects. We explain about optics and photonics, the "International Year of Light, 2015"and also teach several students to play Khet.
After the event we had a social meeting with the support members, officers and thechapter advisor.
Visiting the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics andElectronics (INAOE) and the Large Millimeter Telescope (LMT)(Activity grant)
April 23th to 25th, 2014Tonantzintla, Puebla, Mexico.
This visit was organized by INAOE and Universidad de Guadalajara student chapters.During this visit, the Universidad de Guadalajara students had a tour into the INAOE'slabs and the Tonantzintla Schmidt Camera. There was also a Coffee Science, with one ofthe INAOE's researchers.
General numbers:• 3 days in INAOE.• 34 OSA/SPIE UdG chapter members attendees.• 1 visit to Large Milimeter Telescope.• 1 visit to Schmidt camera in INAOE.• 1 Coffee Science in INAOE.• 7 laboratories tour.

Science for kids (Activity grant)June 25th, 2014

We invited children between ten and twelve years old to visit our campus (CUCEI) andlearn some basic principles of physics, chemistry and math, by playing.
General numbers:• 70 kids attendees• 9 different outreach workshops• 20 chapter members support• 10 profesor support

Workshops organized by chapter members. There were five workshops. The subjectswere: Design of digital systems in FPGA using Verilog , data acquisition with arduino,Matlab, NI Labview and OS Warrior.

SPIE Optics + Photonics 2014 (Travel grant)August 16th, 2014
San Diego, CA., USA
On August 2014, some of our chapter’s members attended the SPIE Optics and Photonicsheld in San Diego, California, where they met students from other countries, participatedin workshop for lidership and presented the result of their research project. Also theypresented the chapter poster of annual activities.
The chapter on the webWe have a web page and we are also in the social networks to reach morestudents, so that they know about our activities and projects.

Description: Updating and reorganizing our website so it is easier to website visitors to getrelevant information and to know who to communicate with and how to subscribe to our studentchapter.
Visiting Lecture Program
Description: Thanks to the SPIE Visiting Lecture Program and the OSA Traveling Lecture Program,the chapter will organize a couple of conferences with researchers from other countries as someother activities as workshops and social meetings with the chapter and the invited researcher.
Chapter meeting
Description: To improve the relationship between our chapter members, this winter will be a“Posada”, a party for all the members and people willing to be part of the chapter.
Visiting high school
Description: Taking the invitation of several physics professors, the SPIE student chapter will bevisiting several high-schools showing the activities of the chapter and making and approachingoptics to young students from our community.
Coffee Science MX
Description: Informal talk with a guest lecturer, at an open and outdoors place for students,teachers and researchers to share experiences in science, study and personal life. Free coffee andteach to play Khet to gather new students. This is an event that we plan to organize on a monthlybasis. Besides it is a national project in México.
International Year of Light 2015 activities
Description: We will have various activities to celebrate the International Year of the Light 2015With these events try to bring all people using science, art and technology to denote the impact ofoptics in our lives.
