our hope with the annual report is that every year we would celebrate god’s faithfulness to fellowship. for us, leading fellowship is a huge privilege and one that we do not take lightly. we know of no more significant endeavor. each week we approach the task of leading this church with the awareness that we’re accountable to god for the way we fulfill our calling. we want god to be lifted up and honored by all that we do.

there’s some great stuff in the annual report, and our team did a really nice job communicating it. hopefully you will be able to relive some of the moments that were special to you and rejoice with us in some of the incredible things that god did this last year.

WHICH HAS COME TO YOU, AS INDEED IN THE WHOLE WORLD IT IS BEARING FRUIT AND INCREASING–AS IT ALSO DOES AMONG YOU, SINCE THE DAY YOU HEARD IT AND UNDERSTOOD THE GRACE OF GOD IN TRUTH. COLOSSIANS 1:6

Like Paul in Colossians 1:6, we are incredibly thankful to see the Gospel increasing and bearing fruit at Fellowship. As we finish up our third year with our new mission statement –making disciples by God’s grace and for His glory at home and across the world– we see more and more of Fellowship catching the biblical vision for discipleship.

We celebrate that almost 400 men and women across all of our campuses are finishing up our first generation of Core groups, which focuses on equipping you in a short period of time to begin making disciples. We hope to see at least 75 of these Core group alumni launch their own Core groups of 4-5 individuals over the next year. Other Core alumni will be joining some of our other discipleship ministries, like ReNew and young marrieds’ D Groups, to lead and make disciples there. These leaders are embracing Fellowship’s value of Multiplication –passing onto others what has been taught to them.

We are also excited to see how God is working in a new initiative by Fellowship Women –Colossians Book Club. This summer we had over 300 women in 60 neighborhood-based small groups across central arkansas engaging in discussions over the book of Colossians. What is great about this initiative is that many of the conversations are occurring with unbelievers or those who may identify as Christian, but have little exposure to God’s word.

The Colossians Book club is a great example of what we want to see more of in 2015-16: Faithful men and women who are carrying the Good News about Jesus Christ into all parts of Central Arkansas.

> DISCIPLESHIP GOD STORY

OF COURSEBY ADAM HEAD

When my longtime mentor, Bill Parkinson, told me about a guy from Rwanda who was here for a year with Fellowship Associates, I immediately wanted to meet him. This is mostly because Bill is a known connector and facilitator and when he has spoken highly of anyone in the past, I have made a mental note they are someone to meet. In this particular facilitation, Bill told me that Joel and his wife Annie really needed a D Group to be a part of while in the States. Without hesitation our D group said, “Of course.” I’m so glad we did.

Joel and Annie’s knowledge of scripture and their burden for shepherding the searching and lost in Rwanda provided such a unique and needed perspective for our group of seven couples. Joel and I immediately connected because of two things: our passion for leadership training and our sense of humor. Both provided a lot of fun discussion over lunches and D Group talks.

As I got to know Joel and his desire to shepherd leaders back in his hometown of Kigali, the Lord began to stir in my heart to encourage Joel in his leadership and find ways to come alongside him in his ministry. I thought of one of the greatest leadership stories in the Bible—Nehemiah. Just as God called Nehemiah to go back to his hometown to build up a downtrodden people through building a wall, God was calling Joel back to his hometown of Kigali to raise up Godly leaders in a nation still reeling from genocide. Joel’s vehicle for doing this is Divine Destiny Leadership Training Center.

Though we’re now separated by an ocean, I see God’s hand in leading Joel and Annie to our D Group. We have been encouraged by a couple living for the cause of Christ with reckless abandon. He is my good friend, and I’m excited about all God may have in store as He opens up doors for Joel and Annie and ways for us to partner with them.

WE HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGED BY A COUPLE LIVING FOR THE CAUSE OF CHRIST WITH RECKLESS ABANDON.

THE PRISON AND PAROLEE POPULATION IS GROWING FASTER IN ARKANSAS THAN ANYOTHER STATE.

OUR RESPONSE TO THE GROWING CRISIS OF CYCLICAL INCARCERATION IN ARKANSASBY PAUL CHAPMAN

Excerpts from an artical published July 24, 2015 in the arkansas democrat-gazette

The criminal justice system in our state is burdened at every point. Demand for prison beds is so great that our county jails are backed up with more than 2,000 inmates waiting for a spot to “be corrected.” Even though we release 800 offenders per month from prison, our “net-new need” for beds still increases by 55 per month. This social and budgetary crisis is due primarily to half of all released inmates returning to prison because they were unable to reintegrate into communities. Returning offenders face many obstacles to a successful transition: estranged family, fines and warrants, addictions, shame, limited felon-friendly employment opportunities, and paying for basic living. Often, these barriers encourage a return to criminal activity for income or as an escape from the pressure.

Fellowship has partnered with the Department of Corrections and other community organizations over the last 15 years to provide teaching, employment, housing, and friendship. God has worked on and through his people at Fellowship. We are different because of the work God has called us to. Many who were objects of our ministry now know and are growing in the Lord. Some are now ‘us’ and serving in the ministry. And for that we give thanks!

A year ago we made the strategic decision to move our programs for ‘recently released’ citizens from our Hidden Creek Opportunity Center to inside the prisons. Moving classes and mentoring inside prisons will allow us to better prepare an individual for the difficulty of reentry and will allow us to scale to help a greater number of people. Praying for God’s leading and favor we designed a reentry program with our partners, Arkansas Baptist College (ABC) and Arkansas Community Correction (ACC). We call the program The Exodus Project.

After an application and approval process an inmate enters The Exodus Project in a cohort of 15 to engage in three progressive Blocks of courses covering Bible, Recovery, Entrepreneurship, and Life Skills. Each block lasts four weeks and includes 80 hours of classroom instruction. We believe The Exodus Project, when fully implemented, will provide the best opportunity for members of local churches to serve those who are coming back into our communities from prison.

bentonFellowship Benton has been able to see what the Gospel lived out in our community can do! Whether it’s seeing the Gospel-presentation being given to our neighborhood kids at our after school program, mentoring young ladies at Hurricane Creek Elementary, or even being trained to share our faith in several DCafés, our campus has learned that a natural part of discipleship is to share our faith with those around us. And through all this, we have seen the only hope of our community, Saline County, and even the world is Jesus Christ. It’s also led to our first mission trip to Guatemala where we were able to share Jesus along side Daniel Bran and his team, as well as pass out shoes to children in Pineto, a poor area of Guatemala City. It is amazing to see what God is doing on our campus as we begin to understand that we are all sent followers of Jesus.

What a year it has been seeking, praying, worshiping, teaching, serving and living to display the infinite worth of God! There have been so many ways that God has revealed his glory to us, in us and through us. So many things to be thankful for. We have experienced the joy of seeing more people connected in Dgroups, more people connected through our Women’s and Men’s ministries, and our community impacted through CityServe and our Arts Festival. We have seen God healing broken lives and transforming marriages and families through our ministry called Renew. Locally we have witnessed the glory of God through our partnership with St. Mark Baptist Church, through lives that have been changed in our ministries at Tyler Street Opportunity Center and through our partnership with Arkansas Baptist College and Under Grace Ministries to connect with those who have been incarcerated. For His glory and through the generosity of our people on all of our campuses, we have paid down a significant amount of our mortgage while giving away over $350,000 to bless both local and global ministries. Globally, we have sent multiple teams to multiple places to experience and display the infinite worth of God and together shared a God-glorifying moment as we packed and sent 5000 Compassion kits to Nepal. Glory to God for all that He has done and for all that He is going to continue to do in us and through us in the coming year!

cabotIn the fall of 2014, we set our focus on being a church that existed for the glory of God. It wasn’t just a theme, it was a prayer that permeated all of our ministries, relationships and lives. At Fellowship Cabot, God’s glory was on display as we welcomed new friends into our church family. We saw His glory as many committed their lives to Jesus in baptism. We saw His glory as our different ministries and missions reached more people to grow as disciples living for Jesus. This past year was one that we grew stronger in our devotion as we followed Jesus together in D Groups. In fact, in 2014-15 we launched new Core and Care groups so that more people could experience discipleship in different areas of life. More women and men were able to grow in living out God’s calling on their lives through the launch of classes like Bloom and 33. Our children’s and student ministries continue to reach more families in the Cabot community to make Jesus the center of their homes and lives. As all these things were happening last year, our congregation was reflecting God’s glory into our Cabot community through our local ministry partners and CityServe. We even took one of our favorite events of the year, Family Fest, “on the road” to serve the neighborhoods around the Lonoke County Christian Clinic. This coming year our focus is on making disciples At Home. We’re excited by the addition of new staff to help lead us in this goal so that more lives in our community encounter the hope of Jesus. Our prayer is that we will see His kingdom expand not just in our own homes, but in our neighborhoods and across central Arkansas.

The purpose of the Online Campus is to make the transformative power of Jesus accessible to everyone. From it’s beginning, our desire for our online ministry is to be a place where people can begin and continue their journey towards faith in Jesus Christ no matter where they are located or their life situation. Our Online Campus not only reaches those outside our church community but also benefits us as a church. It provides a way for those who are sick, home-bound or who are doing missions somewhere else in the world to stay connected with their home here at Fellowship. While it always remains our desire to move people from this virtual community to true in-person active biblical community in a local church, the Online Campus can be a place for people to begin their journey in faith or as a temporary community while individuals find their next church home.

IN NOVEMBER 2014 WE LAUNCHED A NEW FELLOWSHIPONLINE.COM.Our goal was to unify our church by creating one website that would represent all campuses and all ministries, while giving you (the user) an easier, more enjoyable way to experience fellowship online.

ALONG WITH THE SITE WE ALSO LAUNCHED FELLOWSHIP’S BLOG.It’s been amazing to see the how god is using this investment to reach disconnected people who are searching for good news. We are excited and hopeful to see where these resources take us in the next year, and we pray that he will continue to use it for his glory.

> LOOKING AHEAD

Our homes need Jesus. Our city needs Jesus. And making disciples truly begins at home. That is why this year we are focusing on loving our families and loving our city. Sharing Jesus inside our homes and outside our homes. Putting our faith into action locally lets our light shine in such a way that people see our good works and glorify God. Our desire and prayer is that out of the overflow of God’s grace in us, we will go and love…at home.

For this reason, there are several key initiatives that we will be focusing on together as a church. Through Sunday morning teaching and worship, discipleship groups, D-cafes, a special weekend with Paul Tripp, and local serving opportunities, there will be a concerted, grace-driven effort to live and share the Gospel in our homes and in our city.

Together we are calling every person to love the city as we gather for CityServe in April with our friends from St. Mark, along with other churches in the area. There will also be two other churchwide opportunities to serve together to love those in foster care and to love our local schools. Loving and serving the city will be a way of letting our light shine and there will be numerous ways to do that this year.

We have also committed not just to love our cities but to love our families. To make disciples inside the home. And whether you are a family of one or a family of ten, whether kids, grandkids or roommates, we want to help resource, encourage and challenge you

to make disciples in your home. You will feel that in our sermon series on the home, in our weekend event with Paul Tripp and in our ministry map designed to equip families from birth through graduation.

And finally, as we remember the 600,000 people who are disconnected from Jesus or even marginalized in Central Arkansas, we want to go and love in two very specific ways. First, we want to connect with families in our city that have children with special needs. We are committed to finding even more strategic ways than we are currently doing, including hiring a special needs pastor, to come alongside families and love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We want to do life and minister to these new friends in ways that grows us all as disciples and welcomes them as valued members of our community.

Secondly, we want to make disciples of the growing Hispanic population here in Central Arkansas. Together with Fellowship Latin America and our friend, Daniel Bran, we want to let our light shine in the Hispanic community in such a way that Jesus is proclaimed and disciples are made. We pray for God’s grace to come in power and for new discipleship relationships to be formed with the hope of seeing a new Latino campus established in the near future.

Making disciples by God’s grace and for His glory starts at home. Literally in the home and in the city.

Let’s Go and Love!

AT HOMEMAKING DISCIPLES WHO LIVE BY GOD’S GRACE &FOR HIS GLORY STARTS AT SHOME.
