Nearly ten years ago, a small group of Deerfield and Highland Park residents came together with the idea to help a local high school student in need go to college. They initially interviewed four students at Highland Park High School with the understanding that one student would be chosen. But the problem was they couldn't decide! Each student was so deserving. So naturally, they accepted all four students and College Bound Opportunities (CBO) was born. This guiding principle to help as many students as possible has pushed us to continuously improve our programs and become a leader amongst our peers. Since that first class, CBO has expanded its programming to Deerfield High School and Lake Forest High School, helping nearly 200 scholars prepare for college, earn their degrees, begin their careers, and build a future for themselves. This year, we acquired larger office space and opened the Jacob J. Fink Student Center to better serve our scholars. With our proven programming and your help, CBO has the opportunity to expand our reach and impact many more lives in our community. Twenty-seven high school juniors represent the new class of CBO Scholars More than 160 CBO volunteers create one-to-one mentor relationships established during the Scholar’s junior year in high school, and lasting through college ACT Prep classes improve Scholar scores, which leads to more merit aid for Scholars Each high school graduate receives a new laptop to take to college Since CBO began in 2006, 50 Scholars have graduated college 94% of CBO Scholars are on track to graduate. (Nationally, only 56% of all college students graduate within six years*) 100% of all CBO college graduates are employed or continuing their education at the graduate level Scholars earned paid internships with area businesses through CBO Career Prep Programs Suited for the Job Program events provided 24 students with business attire More than 40 students participated in summer workshops focusing on resumé writing, interviewing and networking CBO provided over $380,000 in financial assistance to Scholars in college * U.S. Department of Education, 2011

Next year will mark the 10th Anniversary of the founding of College Bound Opportunities.
What started as the vision of a single person, our Founder Cliff Bregstone, has reached
