President’s Report Christine Owen
What a busy and fruitful year! I can honestly say that Kincumber Rotary Club made a difference! We
have displayed all the characteristics of a vibrant club with members actively engaged and willingly
participating in a variety of activities to demonstrate ‘service above self’, consistent with our club’s
vision.
During the year the club was surveyed and a number of Club Assemblies were held to monitor the
pulse of the club and find out if we were meeting the needs of our members. Significantly the
positives of the club were identified as structured, well-run meetings, which provided variety and a
range of interesting guest speakers, events and opportunities for members to serve and shine. The
year-long program was kept running like a well-oiled machine by Rosemary who provided many
excellent speakers helping to generate much food for thought.
2017-18 Board
I was fortunate to be surrounded by a confident and expert team of Board Members and our
monthly Board Meetings proved a successful discussion and decision-making forum. My thanks to
each and every Board member for their support and commitment. With the introduction of a Board
Paper process we streamlined our approach to focus on the ‘what’, leaving the ‘how’ to Directors
and where relevant, their committees. We managed to write a number of club policies which were
adopted by the membership: Associate membership; Youth Protection and the Bullying Policy.
Thanks to Secretary Margaret Neal and Treasurer, Ralph Brown for keeping us on track and in the
black! Our AGM was held in December with PDG Graeme Davies in the Chair.
Page 8
Early in my Rotary year it was my pleasure to present IPP John Heuston with a well-deserved Paul
Harris Fellowship following 25 years club service. We are also fortunate to have a number of Paul
Harris Society members and a number of Rotarians are committed Foundation Centurions.
We were fortunate to be able to round up a number of our Charter Members for a Reunion Dinner
in April this year and we enjoyed the company of past members and heard about the impetus to
commence the club. We are proudly carrying on, albeit that some of the traditions from those
original meetings have now been waived. Imagine if this was still a men-only club!
Our Club supported a number of combined events: sponsoring the Central Coast Art Awards,
supporting Rotaract, energetically participating in the Australia-wide Graffiti Removal Program which
was well received by locals; and promoting and enabling the Bowelcare Program in our feeder area.
We continued the tradition of the Terrigal, Erina, Kincumber (TEK) evenings, joining with the other
clubs to each host and organise a dinner meeting. We heard about a Kokoda Trek; listened to
Patricia Garcia, Foundation Peace Scholar about her work in conflict zones; and were updated about
Gosford and Wyong Hospital expansions by Dr Andrew Montague. We also joined other Central
Coast Rotarians at Breakers Country Club to hear RI Director Noel Trevaskis on membership and RI
IPP John Germ speak of his experiences and his ideas for youth. And during that same week in March
some members attended the Peace Conference in Sydney and backed up for the District Conference
at Leura where our club was proudly showcased: our Associate Membership initiatives for Youth
Exchange host parents and our work through a matching Foundation Grant with Coast Shelter -
enabling provision of swags for the homeless and waterproof mattresses for women’s refuges.
The generosity of our members has led to almost $6,000 being donated to The Rotary Foundation
and another $1000 to Polio Plus and Australian Rotary Health. The international FUN’d night
championed by Jan Brown added $500 to that total. Lots of fun, coloured international costumes
and dancing made for a fun social event.
Other social events included a Ferry Trip around the Brisbane Water one sunny October Sunday, a
Xmas Party as our last 2017 meeting at Seabreeze Park, Kincumber and our annual Prawn Night to
start 2018 at Macmasters Beach SLSC. We commemorated Anzac Day and members laid wreaths at
memorials during 3 local ceremonies.
Fun at the Christmas Picnic
This year we reported our 2540 Volunteer Hours to Rotary International and our total funds donated
($36,029.05) to local and international charities and causes. These figures do not capture our intent
in serving the community but go some way to showing the extent of our commitment to the Rotary
ideals of service.
Our 4 Villages Walk was mentioned in NSW Parliament’s Hansard and was a wonderful family event
combining walking, models, entertainment, boat building, drumming, dancing, barbecues, singing
Page 9
and Devonshire teas. The event is growing in popularity, bringing an eclectic mix of community
groups together and is designed to showcase all the elements of our Ship Builders’ Memorial
Project. Thanks to a wonderful group of members, capably led by Peter Rea, who all toiled diligently
to get the show on the road!
The HMAS Patricia Cam Commemoration events in January 2018 of the sinking off Darwin by the
Japanese were well supported by local and state politicians, Central Coast Mayor, Jane Smith,
visitors from Darwin and descendants of the ship’s crew. A plaque, specially cast in Darwin will be
mounted at Palermo Park, Daley’s Point on the site where the HMAS Pat Cam was built 75 years ago.
This event too was mentioned in Hansard – a feather in the cap for our Club.
Tina Latham inspired our International Service and assisted us to donate funds for 4 wheel chairs for disadvantaged children in Cambodia, combining with West Gosford Club; and support the Maternity Africa Project to prevent maternal and baby deaths and injuries such as obstetric fistula. In addition our club supported the Days for Girls Mad Hatter’s high tea in July 2017 and some of our male members waited tables. We also supported Dee Why Club to get a container of medical and non-medical supplies to Tonga following the 2017 cyclone. Our efforts for Vocational Service saw chairman, Ernie Altman organise two events at TreeTops
Avoca Beach Resort: The Community Service Award presented to the Kincumber Men’s Shed and
Pride of Workmanship Awards presented to 4 very deserving local folk: Patricia Smith, Yantra de
Vilder, Brad Cardis and Joshua Ford. Our thanks to Bendigo Bank for sponsoring these awards and to
Ernie for his efforts.
Our attention to Youth in the Kincumber area have proved fruitful. Youth Exchange featured
prominently and with the expertise of Tim and Alison Bowland our inbound students Filippa
(Sweden) and Agnes (Norway) enjoyed sound counselling and delightful stays with host families.
Outbound student, Rhianna Scott returned from Finland around the same time as Jordana Booth left
for 12 months in Japan. The club benefits from having a strong connection with these young people
and we look forward during July to welcoming Signe from Denmark for a year-long exchange.
Jordanna Booth at Christmas Picnic just prior to leaving for Japan with Jan Brown Club Youth Exchange Counsellor.
Rotary Youth Enrichment Program (RYPEN) has encouraged us to sponsor 3 Kincumber High School
(KHS) students to attend Summer and Winter camps. For the Model United Nations Assembly
(MUNA) Central Coast event and the Science and Engineering Challenge we sponsored teams from
KHS and in the near future we will sponsor 2 more students to the ConocoPhillips Science Experience
at a Sydney University. We also contributed to sponsoring a 16 year old female student to the
National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Brisbane and she has now been selected to attend the
International event in London – leaving within the next few weeks. What wonderful opportunities!
And, volunteers from our club supervised at the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) sessions held
at Wyong Race Course. In addition, the club continued to support 10 local schools in the
advancement of citizenship and our schools’ night was a great success. Thanks to members who
attended the schools presentation events in December to present awards to students. John Heuston
has done a mighty job in the youth portfolio.
Page 10
Sandy Hunt-Sharman has a thing for movies and has become our movie fundraising champion! This
year we successfully promoted 2 movies at Avoca Picture Theatre raising significant funds for The
Brain Cancer Foundation, Brisbane Water Historical Society and Central Coast International
Women’s Day EXPO.
Avoca Beach Picture Theatre
Our effort at the Gosford Grower’s Markets at the Gosford Racecourse has seen a steady group of
member volunteers set up, collect donations and pack down, fortnightly. The Avoca Beachside
Markets have also featured strongly and in total we have raised close to $17,000 and donated the
total to a range of local charities and causes including Coast Shelter, Maternity Africa, Days for Girls,
the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre, the Clown Doctors at
Gosford Hospital, Shine for Kids, our farmers who are doing it tough in the drought via the
Burrumbuttock Hayrunners, and the Tathra Bushfire Appeal.
Our club has continued to support the International Women’s Day EXPO now titled the Festival of
Women and members attended the Women in Service Dinner in August, proud of their service in the
local area.
And talking of women, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge to work of our webmaster, Pam
Brown keeping our website up-to-date and uploading photos and documents. Thanks Pam. Lyn
Doppler is another person I would like to thank – for her efforts in April this year with the
Restorative Practices event at Gosford Golf Club and assisting with re-drafting the Bullying Policy.
And none of this could happen without the fundraising we undertake in the form of our Christmas
Raffle. We raised almost $16,000. This year we adopted a few new sites including the Crown Plaza
Florida Bar which proved fruitful along with Aldi at Greenpoint, Coles Kincumber and the Avoca
Beachside Markets. Prizes were distributed on Christmas Eve immediately after the draw at Coles
Kincumber to some very happy winners. My thanks to those who generated the prize pool that
contributed to a great result, and for all the volunteer hours dedicated to this venture.
The one goal I had this year that was not realised was the tree planting goal – plant a tree for every
Rotarian. We may resurrect this at some time in the future.
And last, but not least, I would like to mention Membership. Throughout 2017-18 we have had 5
members on extended leave limiting our active membership pool. It was my privilege to induct 5
new members: Suzy Seale, Lyn Doppler, Tony Arico, Bronwen and Neil Simpson. The Club also had
some resignations: Eric Perrett, Ron Nicolle, Dave Richardson, Tim Bowland, and Bronwen Simpson
and Sue Lane retired. We acknowledged with Associate Membership the parents in the host families
of our exchange students and this proved a worthwhile initiative which we will continue. Thanks to
Graeme for his diligence and persistence and bringing his wealth of knowledge to the membership
portfolio.
Finally, I would like to wish Lillias best wishes in her role as our new President.

Community Service Report Sandy Hunt-Sharman
This year our club has been extremely busy achieving our Community Service Plan 2017-18.
I’m very pleased to say the Community Services Team has completed all the objectives plus
more, as the opportunities arose.
The aim this year was to continue to demonstrate our `service approach’, supporting the
events we initiated in the past, building capacity and making the most of each, as
opportunities to `grow the Rotary brand’ in our local community and beyond came our way.
Consistent with our previous community activities during 2017-18 the Club undertook to:
Support local schools (see Youth Report) with citizenship sponsorship that will maintain and enhance Rotary relationships and recognition in the local area

Conduct the 4 Villages Walk along the Rotary Shipbuilders’ Memorial Walk through
the villages of Kincumber, Yattalunga, Saratoga and Davistown. This activity was very
well supported by the local community and has become a wonderful PR exercise as
well as a targeted source of new members (see 4VW Project Report). Local
community groups showcased their organisations and young people entertained
with dancers, bands and buskers.
Partner with other organisations to conduct movie fundraising events at the Avoca
Picture Theatre. These have proved valuable as fundraisers and a great way to
connect people on the coast and raise Rotary’s profile.
We really have made a difference in our community during 2017-18.
Sandy Hunt-Sharman
Page 15
Public Image Tim Bowland and Peter Rea
In line with Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Kincumber’s Public Relations (PR)
portfolio changed to become Public Image (PI).
During the early stages of 2017-2018 the Public Image portfolio was split, with the role
being shared by Tim Bowland and myself. Our community events and projects showcased
Rotary in general and Kincumber Rotary Club in particular with new membership flyers and
an outline of the areas of service where we spend our time and efforts.
For the latter part of 2017 and most of 2018, Public Image concentrated on raising the
profile of the club through its 4 Villages Walk project.
New Printer
The Rotary Club of Kincumber acquired a high-end, A3 laser colour printer, which has been linked to an iMac with Adobe, InDesign and Photoshop software. This allowed the cost effective production of printed material for the 4 Villages Walk. The printer will continue to be available to meet the club printing requirements.
Business and Rotary Networks
Two to three club members attended the regular Kincumber Business Networking Meetings organised by the Kincumber Community Centre. This has raised awareness of the Club within the local business community. The Club has also continued its close association with the Rotary Clubs of Erina and Terrigal known as TEK, by arranging combined meetings.

4 Villages Walk
A very effective seven member 4 Villages Walk committee was formed and good
communication within the club was rewarded by the excellent support from all available
members on the day. A number of non-members also provided considerable assistance,
almost beyond the call of duty.
Partnerships were either established or continued with Brisbane Water Historical Society
(BWHS), Wyong District Historical Society and Museum (W&DHS), Davistown Progress
Association, Sydney Model Shipbuilders Club, History and Heritage, Hunter to Hawkesbury
Research and the Sea Scouts, In addition Mitre 10 Kincumber and Bendigo Bank Kincumber
provided many marquees, Kincumber Glass provided glass for some display models and
Green Point and Kincumber Community Centres offered support in kind.
Attendance for the walk increased significantly on 2017 numbers. A number of Gosford City
Councillors participated as did Adam Crouch, Member for Terrigal who provided a
statement to NSW Parliament regarding the event and the Club involvement which
appeared in Hansard.
4VW Participants enjoy the Foreshore entertainment
Kincumber Bendigo Community Bank was the major sponsor with additional support from
local business, Area History Tours and Central Coast Ferries who provided the prizes.
Despite significant efforts, local schools were not encouraged to become involved, this
remains a high priority for the club. Additional efforts will be employed for 2019.
Rotary International recommends each club undertake a major community event and the 4
Villages Walk has been the event for the Rotary Club of Kincumber. Due to the success this
year, it will continue to be the Club focus into the future.
Page 17
Everyone enjoyed the 4VW festivities
HMAS Patricia Cam Commemoration
A major event for the Club was the HMAS Patricia Cam Commemoration at Palermo Park on
20 January 2018. The park is part of the site of the old Palermo Shipyard, where in 1940
Gordon Beattie constructed the Patricia Cam. 22 Jan 2018 marked the 75th anniversary of
the sinking of HMAS Patricia Cam by Japanese forces in Northern Australian waters.
In conjunction with Past Master’s Darwin-based Mike Owen, the Club arranged a Brisbane
Water commemoration of the event. The club organised a site meeting with Central Coast
Council which led to the archaeology of a slipway being cleared of undergrowth and the rest
of the park area generally cleaned up. On 20 Jan 2018, the Club set up the site including
seating, model display and Mitre 10 Kincumber assisted with marquees. Council will now
continue to maintain the archeology.
The Club also supported a History Ferry Tour of Brisbane Water of about 60 passengers, this
passed the Palermo site where a special Audio Visual presentation was displayed on board.
Later that afternoon about 90 people gathered at the site. A model of the HMAS Patricia
Cam was unveiled along with a plaque cast in Darwin for mounting at Palermo Park. The
unveiling ceremony was conducted by Central Coast Mayor Jane Smith. Parliamentary
Secretary for the Central Coast Scot MacDonald, District Governor, Peter Ward, Central
Coast Councillors, Darkinjung Land Council, locals present at the 1940s launching, Beattie
and Cam family members, relatives of those on board Patricia Cam in 1943, Past Masters,
and visitors from Darwin and East Arnhem Land Council were present. A number of local
community groups attended including Brisbane Water Historical Society, Wyong and District
Historical Society and Central Coast Family History Society, and special guest, Gwen Dundon
AOM, maritime historian and author. On the actual anniversary, club members went to
Canberra to lay a wreath at a twilight ‘Last Post Commemoration’ for HMAS Patricia Cam.
Parliamentary Secretary of the Central Coast Scot MacDonald who attended the Central
Coast commemoration provided a Notice of Motion to NSW Parliament in regard to the
event which highlighted the Club’s involvement and appeared in Hansard.
The occasion drew considerable pre and post event media coverage including print, radio
and television all acknowledged the Rotary Club of Kincumber, professional video footage
was shot for a possible future documentary. From the event the club received $1100 in
donations towards the Shipbuilder’s Memorial Project.
Page 18
Program for HMAS Patricia Cam Commemoration 21 January 2018
Shipbuilders’ Memorial and Historical Projects
Following the HMAS Patricia Cam Commemoration, Palermo Park was added to the club’s ‘Shipbuilders’ Memorial’. Discussions are currently underway with Central Coast Council and local artists regarding construction of a memorial for HMAS Patricia Cam at the Park, which will include the mounting of the plaque cast in Darwin. An additional plinth may be erected on Davistown Waterfront Reserve to acknowledge the keel cutting for the vessel there.
To enhance the commitment to the preservation and presentation of history and heritage, the Club accepted management of the resources of Central Coast Historical Models (CCHM). These resources included models and dioramas many with a specifically local theme while others have a direct connection with the Central Coast.
Tourism Link
The Club’s Shipbuilder’s Memorial Project stands to benefit the local tourist economy as
interest in history and heritage grows. Throughout the past year Club representatives
attended meetings about new initiatives conducted by the Destination NSW, Central Coast
Council and community based associations aimed at significantly boosting tourism to the
Central Coast, enabling better support for the local Visitor Economy. The Shipbuilders’
Memorial, the 4 Villages Walk and the former Central Coast Historical Models (CCHM)
resources will contribute to this initiative.
During 2017 Wyong and District Historical Society (W&DHS) supported the display of scale
models at Alison Museum. The display has enjoyed a significant response from visitors of all
ages. The original artwork is being redesigned to acknowledge the Rotary Club of
Kincumber. Aligning with the efforts by Government, Council, Industry and the Community,
the Central Coast can expect a significant increase in tourist numbers, and these vibrant
history-based attractions will enhance and help protect local heritage. As the models will be
Rotary badged, the public image of Rotary International, Rotary District 9685 and the
initiatives of the Rotary Club of Kincumber will be promoted.

Page 19
Membership Report Graeme Davies
An ambitious Membership Plan was adopted for 2017-18 designed to achieve the Club’s 2020 Vision
target of 45 active members. This goal is essential if the Club is to undertake more significant
projects within the community.
To achieve the overall goals and initiatives of the Plan, the Board approved a budget of $3,000 to
implement the plan. These funds however were not allocated in part due to budget stress.
The goal for the year was a net growth of 5 members. Five members were inducted but this was
offset by the resignation of 7 members. It is expected however the Club will commence 2018-19
with 25 active members.
A number of members have invited a potential member to attend a meeting or referred potential
members to the Membership Director. Membership is everyone’s responsibility. This is clearly
adopted by our members.
A feature of the current membership demographic is at any given time approximately a third of
members, for various reasons, are on extended leave. This can place an extra burden on active
members. This feature is anticipated to continue in future years so needs to be factored into future
Club Planning.
The planned Membership Committee structure did not eventuate.
A Club Membership Seminar was undertaken which heightened the awareness of the importance of
membership retention as well as growth. This included member satisfaction and an understanding of
the flexibility Clubs have regarding membership types and meeting formats. In response to these
new options the Club introduced Associate Membership. A particular initiative was the offer of
Associate Membership to current host parents of Rotary Youth Exchange students. This was well
received at this year’s District Conference.
Training is an important aspect of club membership. All new members were appointed a mentor and
assigned to a Club Committee. Mentor Guidelines were developed. A “fireside” chat was conducted
mid-year to support newer members gain a better understanding of Rotary.
The Club undertakes a number of community projects which contributes to its high community
profile. This has been most important in attracting new members. Introductions have arisen as a
result of our involvement in the Health Promotion Expo, Gosford Farmers’ Market, Avoca Beachside
Market, the Central Coast Festival of Women, the Historic Model display at the Erina Fair 30th
Anniversary, the Shipbuilders’ Memorial Project, the 4 Villages Walk and especially the 75th
Anniversary of the sinking of the Patricia Cam to name but a few.
Although our total membership remains modest the overall directions and strategies are sound. One
initiative to be explored in 2018-19 is broadening our support base of the general community and
our Associate Members. One initiative with that in mind was the “Charter Night” or Reunion of past
members held in April.
This will increase our capacity for active involvement in a range of projects.

The Rotary Foundation Report Jan Brown
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) endowment fund is at the heart of projects which save and transform lives around the world. This year Kincumber Rotary Club and its members contributed over $6000 to the Annual Fund including $1000 to PolioPlus. Thanks are extended to those members who made individual donations as Centurions and a special acknowledgement to members who have made significant contributions as Paul Harris Society Members.
The wine raffle, championed by Fraser McBride, has continued to be an important means of
generating funds for TRF. Thanks go to Fraser for his continuing expertise in running the
weekly fine sessions and for organising a variety of quality wines for prizes.
A successful application for a District Foundation Grant resulted in Coast Shelter being the
recipient of $2090. District provided $1045 which was matched with another $1045 from
Kincumber Rotary Club. These funds were used to purchase 12 Swags for the homeless and
2 waterproof mattresses for women’s refuges. Acknowledgement must go to Tina Latham
who was actively involved in bringing this project to fruition.
The important role of the TRF in promoting peace was recognised at a combined meeting
with Terrigal, Erina and Kincumber (TEK) with Peace Fellow, Patricia Garcia as the keynote
speaker. Patricia, a highly respected humanitarian and human rights advocate, completed
her study at the Peace Centre at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. It was wonderful to
hear about her past contributions and future plans for world peace and to share a meal,
trivia quiz and fundraising raffle with Erina and Terrigal Rotary Clubs.
Colourful international gathering at the FUN’d Event
Late in the Rotary year, we enjoyed a FUN’d event. The aims of the FUN’d for Foundation
event were to have a fun, to share with members and guests the important role of TRF in
sponsoring local and international projects, to celebrate world diversity through
incorporating an international theme and to fundraise. The FUN’d for Foundation event
culminated in over $500 being raised for the TRF. A big thank you to all who helped to make
this event a success.

Youth Service Report John Heuston
The last year has been eventful and fulfilling for our Youth Program.
Youth Exchange has seen Rhianna Scott return from Finland and tell us of her experiences
form her year-long exchange. We welcomed Agnes Birkemo from Norway and although her
stay was shorter than planned we enjoyed her company and trust she benefitted and
formed happy memories of her time with us. Jordanna Booth is now in Japan and from
reports is proving to be a delightful and well regarded Australian ambassador. As we head
into the new Rotary year we will be welcoming Signe Lauritsen from Denmark. As always,
finding host families can be challenging and a special thanks to President Christine for her
contribution to Youth Exchange and to all those providing hospitality. An initiative to honour
the generosity of our host parents with Associate Membership for the year of exchange has
proved a worthwhile and successful initiative.
Rhianna Scott - Finland on Exchange
The Scott Family hosted Agnes Birkemo (centre) from Norway
Once again we have been involved with RYPEN. Katie
Woodham and Rowan Payne attended the Summer
Camp and Taylor Scott the Winter Camp. Each weekend
camp provided students with wonderful leadership
opportunities. These young people visited the Club prior
to and on return from the camps to tell firstly of their
expectations and then their experiences
Page 22
Our plan to have a participant for attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) week long camp did not eventuate as a health issue caused the young lady planning to attend having to withdraw.
The Science and Engineering Challenge was also well supported by the Club with members helping at St Edwards College. Schools from all over the Central Coast were presented with a variety of stimulating challenges.
The Club sponsored 2 teams from Kincumber High School to participate in the Central Coast MUNA held at Ourimbah University Campus.
The Club part sponsored Natasha Malkovich's attendance at the National Youth Science
Forum (NYSF). She visited the Club and confidently relayed her experience in Brisbane. She
has been invited to attend The International YSF in London.
A highlight of the year was our Schools Night held at Chopstix Restaurant at Avoca, cheques
were presented and staff and pupils addressed the Club.
The RYDA Driver Awareness Programme was supported by a number of members attending
the days held a Wyong Racecourse.
Lessons learned by students at RYDA
Two students from Kincumber High School have expressed interest in attending the next
ConocoPhillips Science Experience.
Lyn Doppler made a special effort approaching local schools to promote and encourage
involvement for pupils in our Four Villages Walk. Her efforts will be rewarded as the Four
Villages Walk continues to grow.
Many thanks to all those contributing to our Youth Program and please continue your involvement
in the coming Rotary year.

International Service Report Tina Latham
This year we:
Continued to support to the Rotary Club of Gosford West and donate funds for four (4) wheel chairs for impoverished people in disadvantaged communities in Cambodia.
Raised funds in collaboration with the Foundation Chair to assist in the
eradication of polio worldwide.
Continued support of Days for Girls Avoca Beach team, a (RAWCs) project by providing guidance and assistance in a fundraising event an African Tea Party in July 2017 in collaboration with Days for Girls and Woven. Some of our male members made excellent waiters!
Supported Maternity Africa to prevent maternal and baby deaths and
injuries such as obstetric fistula.
Tina Latham
Our Club members got into the spirit of the African High Tea held at Community Christian School at Bensville, to raise funds
for Days for Girls Projects.

Vocational Service Report Ernie Altman
Although no active committee was formed there was consistent assistance and participation
by the membership. This support enabled:
Vocational activities that remained within the budget and were to a large extent
subsidised by Bendigo Bank as a result of representations by President Christine.
Sourcing of the award plaques from Russell Hampton Co in the USA at a cost that
was highly competitive as laser engraving was included.
Club members to nominate local community members for Pride of Workmanship
awards, resulting in the selection of four recipients from a range of professional,
artistic and volunteer backgrounds: Joshua Ford - Services to Rural Fire Service;
Yantra de Vilder - Services to Music and 5 Lands Walk; Brad Cardis - Services to Event
Management; Patricia Smith - Services to Photography and Community.
POW Award Winners with President Christine and MC Ernie Altman
The selection of Kincumber Men’s Shed as the worthy recipients of our Community
Service Award in acknowledgement for their service to supporting, offering
friendship and learning opportunities to retired men including those with disabilities
in our local community
Two awards events were held - a Community Service Award dinner and the Pride of
Workmanship Awards night which also included dinner. Both events were held at
TreeTops Restaurant Avoca Beach Hotel and Resort and thanks are extended to the
Resort staff.
A nomination was made for the District Vocational Excellence Award and on this
occasion our nominee was not successful.
Club members made excellent suggestions for Vocational visits, and two were
planned. However, due to a crowded program, it was not possible to proceed with
these. One is being considered by the incoming Committee.
