PRESIDENT’S REPORT

What a season the Langwarrin Cricket Club had in the 2017/18 season .On and off the field the club excelled and was without doubt the envy of the entire MPCA competition. Our junior program is second to none with new players coming across from rival clubs every season just to be a part of our club and most importantly culture. A huge thank you to Darren Guinea and all the volunteers who coach our kids and make sure that we provide the right environment for our children to learn and grow as not just cricketers but young men and women.

All this culminating in the club coming away with three Premierships which is a fantastic achievement.

Our senior club had one of its most successful seasons in the club history coming away with another four cups. Thank you to all our Captains for the season and all the effort they put in . What can be said about our 1st Eleven who cleaned up everything there was to win, first of all going through and winning the Jack Peacock Cup undefeated and then capping off a brilliant season by winning the Provincial premiership. So to Trav , Jake and the entire playing group congratulations on a fantastic season.

A big thank you to Jake on your season as Coach, each year we see you improving and working hard to be a better Coach and the results are showing.

To Tim, Rob and Roger thank you so much for what you do in adding the polish and professionalism that is without doubt the envy of the entire competition.

Off the field we are tracking really well. A massive thank you to our partners who without we would not be able to operate let alone excel in performing as a cricket club.

COACH’S REPORT

What a season!! First of all I would like to thank everyone from the committee and to all the people that have helped the club get to where we are today. Now we’re do I start, with good recruiting in the off season (Simon Parrot and Leigh Patterson) spirits were high early with a great preseason, the 1s lost round one but didn’t look back from there. Stand out seasons from Matt Prosser and Trav Campbell with Matt and Andy making 100s. Handy bowling performances from Adam and Leigh and our fielding was the best in the competition which is why we need to keep spending countless hours on going forward. Despite not winning a premiership in the 2,3,4s Jewy, Harks and Dan have worked really well with developing the young blokes with some great performances aswell Aaron Edwards 110 Jesse Bice 113 Josh Edwards 25 wickets Kurt Eigenraam 7/47 Well done to the 5s and 7s sides for being undefeated premiers and to Darren for making finals with the Father son side. With 3 junior premierships 3 seniors premierships and winning the jack peacock cup, being the most successful year in the clubs history it is an outstanding effort but as a whole there should be no stopping Langwarrin Cricket Club to keep on improving. Massive thanks to Tim, Rob, Dan, Trav and Matt who have helped with training and just anything I have needed along the way GO LANGY

FIRST XI REPORT

Well where do I start we had a really good preseason and was great to see everyone back for a new year, a few new faces with Adam and Andy returning to the club this year, picking up Leigh and Simon really finished our side off well . We started off with a big loss to Baxter which we all had a good chat about and we bounce back well against Pearcedale which started the ball rolling, we didn’t not lose another game all year! 18 wins 3 draws and 1 loss for the provincial comp and Jack Peacock 20/20 comps. A 3 year plan was put in place when Jake and I signed at Langy, build our side to win a flag within those 3 years, we have had a lot of players over that 3 year period working hard to achieve this success we did this year. We had 15 players play in the 1st this year Let’s all make sure we all stick together for the next 5 years, because we have a huge opportunity to win a lot more premierships with the young talented group we have. Just want to say thanks to Rob and Tim, these two guys have been our back bone in the ones all year, the time you both give to Jake I and the team we can’t thanks you enough. Thank you to Roger, our scorer, the club, supporters and sponsors for getting behind us and helping to achieve our 3 year plan. Back to back premierships hear we come!!

JUNIOR CO-ORDINATORS’ REPORT

Season 2017/18 Junior Annual Report What another great season the Junior Club had this season. We started off strongly

with great numbers where we had 144 players register in which we fielded 14 teams in all year levels from Under 10 to Under 16 and including our first Girls team, which was two more team than last season. We had 8 out of 10 sides play finals, with 6 of them finishing in the top 2. Our club was lucky to have 5

sides play off in the Grand Finals with our Under 16 Premier, Under 12 Premier & Under 12 District sides all winning the Premiership with our Under 14 Premier and Under 12 Sub District sides being Runners Up. Well done to all teams for

making the finals and representing our club with pride. Friday nights this year were massive at the club where on a couple of occasions all 4

teams (Under 16’s & 3 Under 10’s) were playing at home and it was great to see so many families down supporting their kids.

We had our first girls team play in the Girls Competiton this season where they played on Tuesday nights with modified rules like the Under 10 boys competition. We

had 11 girls play in this side and I had the pleasure of coaching these girls whose skill and ability improved throughout the season. I am looking forward

to seeing a growth in our girl participation numbers next season. All our coaches did a great job this year and put a lot of time into their role and I thank

you for their efforts this season. 2017/18 coaches were –Todd Elcock, Steve Brooker, Matt Prosser, Taylor Smith, Jamie Jewiss, Gary Rees, Andy

Eigenraam, Craig Hunter, Vin L’Huillier, Luke Smith, Alan Kilby, Noel Hudgson, Jay Charlton, Mitch Bromley, Brad McNeilage, Dean Baker, Brett Elford, Bryan

Rickard, Steve Byrne, Shaun Biggs & Danny Weare. This Season we had the following players play Representative Cricket this season: Jackson Vaughan, Lachlan Jamieson, Dodi Ibrahim, Joshua Edwards,

Jesse Jewiss, Nathan Guinea, Kyle Parrott, Jackson Wenske, Flynn Bartlett, Connor L’Huillier, Zan Snowden & Alice Phillips (our first female rep player).

Our Milo In2Cricket again was well attended with 40 boys & girls registering and this program was held for the 8 weeks leading up to the Xmas break. A massive

thankyou goes to Andy Eigenramm and his 2 boys Kurt & Trent for running this program this season.

I thoroughly enjoyed another year as Junior Co-ordinator and I would like to thank all families for their effort and support and I look forward to seeing everyone again

for a bigger and more successful 2018/19 season.

FOURTHS

First off congratulations to the first XI on achieving the Pinnacle of Peninsula cricket and to Jake on a great first year as senior coach

Thanks to Reesy, Craig, Wendy, CB, Daz, Kelly and the rest of the committee without your tireless hard work there is no Club

Being at the bottom of the selection pool posed many challenges and I knew this would mean that there would be no easy games, we played by the motto never give up from the first ball to the last we are in the game no matter what and the fact that we were still in finals contention in the last round of the season was proof that the boys really stuck to this

We had a couple of fantastic victorys against top 4 teams ensuring that any opposition we came up against knew that they'd been in a game of cricket against a team who played hard and by the true spirit of cricket

Without doubt the highlight of the season for me was watching the development of some great young talent with many achieving personal bests these included but not limited to

- Kurt Eiganraam who spearheaded our attack he took 23 wickets at 15.35 including two 5 wicket hauls and a match winning best of 7/47 against Somerville - Trent Eiganraam's emergence as genuine top order bat winning batting average and making his highest score of 90 - Jesse Peacock won the bowling average which included a career best 4/10 & his highest score with the bat - Harry Boyle's resilience with the bat including a personal best of 39 - Rick Nolde playing his 350th game his passion for the game at 66 is infectious - Mitch Trewin made a blistering start to the season with the bat including a couple of half centuries before he was promoted to the thirds

Our international recruit Sam Adams took out the fielding award, he was an absolute delight to have around and one of the greatest teammen you could ever play with and speaking of great team men a big thanks to Andrew Eigangram in addition to bringing drinks and lollies every week Andy really epitomises what it is to be a team first player even if that meant not being in the team

Thanks to the club for giving me the opportunity to Captain a side this year this was definitely one of the most challenging yet rewarding seasons I have played hopefully we can build on this next year and feature at the business end of this season

With warm regards

FIFTHS

At the start of the year a group of guys got together and decided they wanted to play cricket together. As a group we wanted to play at a level where we would not hinder the development of our future cricketers coming through so it was decided that we would play in B2.

To be honest we probably realized at the time that with the caliber of players we had regardless of age was probably going to be a class above the opposition which turned out to be correct. In saying that we had some great fun and some real highlights along the way. Seeing Nathan Volpe back playing cricket nearly brought a tear to a few eyes and then watching him perform the way he did made us proud as a team as well as a club. To see two 12 year olds play together for us and taking 6 wickets between them was a real highlight so well done to Jay and Kyle .

Being in trouble in both finals was great to see a great clubman and life member in Luke Smith show us his talent in producing 2 unbelievable innings to get us over the line and winning the premiership.

In closing was great to send Mal Reid off with a premiership in his final game and we all thank him for such a wonderful career as a player for this great club.

SIXTHS

I would like to start by thanking the Committee for allowing me Captain the 6th XI also known as the Father/Son side. I would like to congratulate the club on what was an extremely successful season with the club heading in the right direction for the future. This season saw us take the field with only 3 players from last year’s Premiership side. As a result, we had 3 Juniors make their Senior Debut (Bailey Jamieson, Ben Charles & Campbell Chubb), 2 Junior’s play there first full Season of Senior Cricket (Riley Trewin & Nathan Guinea). We also welcomed 3 senior players to the club with Ryan Chubb & Rohan Puls playing their first senior games and Ash Charles transferring to us from Baxter CC. We continued with giving the kids a go this season and they were given plenty of opportunity to play and learn the game at senior level. They all performed well and developed over the season so they will be better going forward. We had a frustrating season as we never seemed to get regular weeks of playing cricket due to our competition only having 6 sides and one of them failed to field a side each week. However, we did make the final 4 and played our Semi against Baxter at Baxter and unfortunately, we were finished very early on the Sunday with our season coming to an end. The highlight of our season was our Round 13 clash against Moorooduc at home on Lloyd 2. Our previous 2 encounters against Moorooduc were both called off due to weather and in both games, we were on the verge of really strong wins. Our side including the kids were adamant we were going to win this game. I lost the toss again and Moorooduc batted and made 9/297, after the game and during the week we stayed positive that we could win this game as we have had this side on toast twice before. At 1/0 things didn’t start well but we proceeded to make 7/300 off 68 overs with an amazing 118 from Paul Morrow & 92 from Ash Charles. It was a great day and was one of the best wins I have ever been involved in. I would also like to congratulate Paul Morrow for winning the Wintercooke Trophy as the Minor Club Champion. I would like to finish off by wishing everyone all the best for next season. Bring it on, Go Langy. Darren Guinea 6th XI Captain

SEVENTHS FYME During the off season myself and few of the lads talked about putting in a one day side for this season. Which sounded like it could be a bit of fun. Something different. As the start of the season got closer the other lads had changed their mind but I decided to go ahead with the team anyway. We were entered in to C2 and began the season against Pearcedale in round one at our home ground for the year at EMC. After smashing 304 off our 40 overs then bowling them out for 66, I had the feeling we were in for a good year. The team chopped and changed a fair bit in the early rounds as we were trying to figure out what the side was going to look like and with blokes missing games here and there we relied on fill ins now and then. We had a total of 30 players take the field for us a different times throughout the season. We thank everyone who helped us out. The wins continued to come and by Christmas the team was starting to get settled. We welcomed two new blokes to the club this year Rob Healey (bluey) and Matt Horne (freaka). They both fitted into our team really well and provide us with many laughs. In round 13 we took on SEAFORD at EMC and this proved to be our closet contest for the season. They were sitting on the bottom of the ladder, won the toss and had a bat. They made 7 for 189 off there 40 overs which should never have been enough on the tiny ground of EMC. But after stumbling to 6 for 80 and then 9 for 140 out first lose seemed inevitable. Batting at eleven Zane Thomas who was filling in for us and hadn't played a game in 11 years, joined Chris Aedy in the middle. Chris was on strike and managed to hit 19 off the next over, including a single off the last ball to keep the strike. Then the next over was quiet incredible. Now needing 31 for an unlikely win the next over went like this 4 4 6 6 6 the win was suddenly one hit away and off the last ball of the over Chris hit a massive 6 to get us an amazing win. Round 15 was our bus trip to Red Hill to take on Kingsley and his team were there was plenty of team bonding and many frothies had Thanks to Scotty who drove the bus for us. We then got to the end of the regular season without losing a game. Great effort by the boys. We took on Pines in the semi final at Skye Reserve. After winning the toss and batting first we made 9 for 145 off our 40 overs on a really slow ground, so was pretty happy with that score. Then came the freaka show. Matt Horne opened up the bowling into the wind and booked our spot in the big dance with an amazing spell of 6 for 10 off 8 overs We then took on FYME in the grand final, which was fitting as they were the second best side this season. After a false start on the Saturday with rain stopping play, we rocked up on Sunday ready to claim our prize. Winning the toss we batted first and managed to post a really good total of 8 for 193. After not being able to score a run in the regular season, Luke Hodder then turned it on in finals including a magnificent 71 in the granny. Scott Morrow and Kurt Halewood made 30 each to set up our really competitive total. Then all of the bowlers bowled really tight to dismiss FYME for 137. Clint McNeil ending up with 5 for 14 off 5 We were the crowned PREMIERS AND CHAMPIONS Unbelievable effort by the lads to go the whole season undefeated and we will be back next season to go back to back FYME
