Bhavishya Bharat is a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in

Hyderabad, India. The organisation has been providing primary

health care services, quality education, livelihood and social

development services in remote locations of Sikkim, Arunachal

Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since 2008.

Bhavishya Bharat’s vision is to improve the quality of life of

communities through holistic and integrated social development,

thereby enabling communities to become self-reliant. The

organisation has the privilege of reaching out to 3, 00,000 most

disadvantaged people for improving their quality of life. This has

been possible due to the financial support received from SBI

Foundation for Sanjeevani (Clinic on Wheels), The Hans

Foundation for Sanjeevani (Mobile Clinic), Teesta Swashakti

Samrudhi –for Carrying out CSR activities; e-Learning and Tuition

Centers etc. Bhavishya Bharat is governed by well-known and very

credible trustees and operates as a public charitable trust.

Vision Improve the quality of life of communities through holistic and integrated

social development, thereby enabling communities to become self-reliant

and more developed.

Mission Provide sustainable opportunities to improve health, education, livelihoods

and gender equity from the human development perspective.

Objectives

• To carry out, run, establish, sponsor and maintain all kinds of charitable work and

activities, Livelihoods and educational work and activities social work and activities,

thrift programs, saving programs and credit activities.

• To establish, maintain, assist, improve and otherwise support both directly and

indirectly educational institutions and programmes to provide academic and technical

and vocational education and trainings at all levels and to provide assistance to needy

students.

• To run sponsor or assist in literacy numeracy and other educational and training

programmes for people of all ages. Including setting up of libraries and computer

centers and other facilities for education, training and development of knowledge and

capabilities.

• To undertake all kinds of rescue, relief, resettlement and rehabilitation programmes

at the time of natural and other calamities as well as to attend to the needs of those

affected by industrialisation and infrastructure development activities undertaken by

both Governments and Private parties.

• To establish and maintain all kinds of homes and Institutions for the benefit of

disadvantaged children, old people, students, homeless persons and trainees and

students undergoing.

• To plan and implement all kinds of development programmes for welfare and

development of rural and urban areas like drinking water, sanitation, infrastructure

development etc. To collaborate and cooperate with Government and Non-

Governmental Organisations to undertake Programme on common problem relating to

any socio-economic development, particularly in rural areas.

• To undertake programme aiming at raising peoples’ critical awareness on

environmental issues which primarily refer to the life sustaining resources and

channelize their awareness into action programme that help in protecting the

environment/ecology.

• To establish, maintain assist, improve and otherwise support both directly and

indirectly medical institutions and programmes including but not restricted to

hospitals, diagnostic centre, dispensaries and other health Institutions, both mobile

and fixed in urban/ rural areas.

• To carry on, run, start, establish, and maintain all kinds of schools, technical centers,

research and development centers and Institutions in urban / rural areas.

• To take up such activities of general public utility not involving the carrying on any

activity for profit.

• To set up blood banks and eye banks on the basis of Voluntary donations.

• To do all necessary things for and incidental or conductive for the attainment of above

objectives of the Trust including but not restricted to hiring personnel and consultants,

entering into alliances and agreements of cooperation, soliciting and bidding for funds

from Government and companies.

The Year 2017-18 at a glance

This report presents the extensive work undertaken by Bhavishya Bharat in

the year 2017-18 towards accomplishing its mission of providing sustainable

opportunities to improve health, education, livelihoods and gender equity

from human development perspective. The report attempts to summarize

these activities and make it available for public viewing. Over the years,

Bhavishya Bharat has used a combination of approaches to address primary

health care issues, education, livelihood & social development by the help

of three major projects; The Hans Foundation Sanjeevani project, State

Bank of India Foundation Sanjeevani Project & Teesta Swashakti Samrudhi

projects.

03 Mobile Medical Units reached 2044 patients in North & West Districts of Sikkim to provide Primary Health Care Services in remote locations;

The Hans Foundation Sanjeevani

The Hans Foundation Sanjeevani project set out to provide Primary Health Care Services through 3 Mobile Medical Units in 60 villages of North & West Districts of Sikkim. The project team under the guidance of the State Programme Manager includes 03 Medical Officers, 03 Pharmacists, 03 Lab Technicians and 03 MMU Operators.

Purpose of the Project

Improvement in quality of life of the rural population through provision of the basic health care facilities in remote locations of Sikkim. The project aims at providing primary health care facilities in the remote areas of hilly terrain of Sikkim.

Objectives of the project

• Provision of basic health care facilities in 60 villages of 02 districts of Sikkim through Mobile Medicare Unit (MMU)

• Awareness generation on preventive health care including water, sanitation and personal hygiene

• General health profiling of the people to address immediate and strategic health care needs.

State Bank of India Foundation Sanjeevani

The State Bank of India Foundation Sanjeevani project set out to provide Primary Health Care Services through 01 Mobile Medical Unit in 25 villages of South Sikkim District of Sikkim. The project team under the guidance of the State Programme Manager includes 01 Medical Officers, 01 Pharmacists, 01 Lab Technicians and 01 MMU Operators.

Candle Making Training

• Training programmes on candle making were conducted at different locations in the PVs. There were altogether 37 members participated to learn process of candle making.

Training on Organic Oyster Mushroom Cultivation

• Organic Oyster Mushroom Cultivation training along with distribution of seeds & paddy straw has been conducted in the PVs with 56 members at different locations.

Sustainable

Livelihood

Large Cardamom Nursery

The farmers in the project area have cultivated large cardamom being the main cash crop of the area. During the reporting period the team has visited the nurseries in Singhik, Pegong, Saffo, Theng & Tsungthang; imparted training, monitored the maintenance and discussed with cultivators for necessary support.

Hands on Training to SHG Leaders

Member’s thrift, credit, regular meeting and maintaining the required registers are some of the important activities for group development. During the reporting period, the team visited all the women self-help groups, conducted required training and discussed with members regarding their group activities.

Cattle Treatment Camp cum Awareness Programme on Animal Husbandry

Cattle treatment camps were conducted at Theng, Shipgyer & Singhik. There were altogether 54 cattle got treatment during the camp.

Vocational Sewing School (Affiliated with USHA International Ltd,

Kolkata)

• Total 60 number of Trainees have been trained in dress designing.

Training Programme on Bag Making

• Training programmes on Wire Bag making were conducted at different locations in the PVs. There were altogether 143 members participated to learn different techniques of wire wrapping.
