Round Table India Song

A Wonderful World

If we could consider each other A neighbor, a friend or a brother It would be a wonderful wonderful world It would be a wonderful world If each little kid had fresh milk each day If each old soul has some place to stay If each working man had enough time to play It would be a wonderful world ….. If there were no poor and the rich were content If strangers were welcome wherever they went If each of us knew that true brotherhood meant It would be a wonderful world …..

If people all over would trust one another Not thinking about their race or their colour If they did agree to join hands altogether It would be a wonderful world …..

If tablers of India can properly plan To do for their country whatever they can If fellowship brings about service to man It would be a wonderful world …..

Oh Boy! It would be a wonderful world.

Dear friends at area4 Finally my journey comes to an end and what a journey it was... So smooth, so interesting, really happening. Met so many people on the way and today they are very integral part of my life. When I had thought of taking up this responsibility, there was one thing which always pushed me back that will I be able to handle this and I have to chair this big area all alone but then I was wrong.. I was never alone and honestly speaking never had to do anything. I must say I had the best team of chairmen and conveners who had so much of confidence in me that whatever I desired and planned was implemented by them and they were ready saying " buddy what next". I also had plans at the start of the year and I am so glad that I could fulfil all of them. We had almost all the tables in the area doing fellowship events and FTE was just at its best. Spending over 2.5 crores and building 70 classrooms in one year is just mind blowing. Two new members added in the family at Kolkata and bhubneshwar and with a total induction of 81 tablers , the family of Area4 has become much stronger and younger. We had some amazing events throughout which reported in this report in the pages ahead but my special acknowledgement to events like shashi tharoor, ravindra chamaria, joint landmark meeting of 34 and 17, begumpur school inauguration, shiv kheras event. Twinklers activities also made all the difference and we were able to gather so much of happiness together by making them connected to us so many times. Cr. Suman , you are special and will always be special for us. The idea of having a photography convener was a superhit and Tr. Sameer did a brilliant job with so many photography events througout. Area4 was the only area to have organised so many photo events. Getting to work with closely with circles made me realise that if we have to be successful, we must have the support of these beautiful ladies as they are the ones who makes a house and all put together makes a warm world to live in. Must thank Vishu for all the support. Trust me Vishu without you, everything was impossible. And one man who made my year so smooth and I can never repay his contribution to me is my AST Neeraj. Neeraj what would I do without you. Thank you buddy for all the great support. Want to thank my table 67 for being there for me.

Wishing all the best to my friend Neeraj Dhote for a great year ahead and buddy am always there for anything.

Once again friends would like to say, we all play many roles in life. In all the roles you play, always say "I'll Be There" because your presence makes all the difference.

Thank you all for being there for me and I will always cherish there moments forever. Keep Smiling Keep shining and I did my small bit and it made all the difference

Your friend forever Neeraj Banka

Dear Friends,

Remember the lyrics from the classic, We are the World!

Warm Greetings and Best Wishes to you!

Of course, Fellowship is the basic fabric of Tabling and the Table is the closest knit family. It makes us feel so happy when we see Tablers and families bonding and so is the case with Area IV

Friends, if you have voluntarily agreed to join this movement then you have also agreed to take with it the onus of fulfilling the obligations. There should be no excuse and no reason to shirk away now. Yes, your work is important and family is even more important.. we don't want you to neglect that. However, manage yourself such that you have more time for each of them. The beauty of it all is that tabling teaches you this like nothing else. I am a living example and can vouch for the amount of additional time Tabling has taught me to manufacture.

As the Area Chairman, my job will be simple. I am here to facilitate our joint actions and out common agenda. I do not have a personal agenda that I would like to thrust down your throats. On the contrary we will together deliver what we want to do this year, and we will together go ahead and do it. Needless to mention we will have tons of fun along the way!!

Many Congratulations, Chairman Tr. Neeraj Banka on having successfully completed your tenure as the Area Chairman. I strongly believe that being the Area Chairman is the most challenging job and at the same time, most privileged. Am sure the year has been extremely eventful and your term very satisfied and you will cherish the year gone by!

I would also like to assure you of my continued push for all the initiatives and seek your support as we try to focus on fellowship and extension during the year since these are the facets that need our maximum attention. We have an energetic Area Board wanting to work with you please help us with your support, advice and cooperation. I hope you will enjoy the coming year and if nothing else, we will be sure to have a good time in our Area, by making new friends and strengthening existing ones!

Dear friends-

An incredible year just gone by,like it's often said" all good things in life comes with an expiry Date" so was this power packed tabling year.

Areaiv is on a high as it has excelled in each&every facet of tabling.

What stood out during this year was the external extension- charter of KVRT-227 in Kolkata after a decade thus taking area to a record high in terms of it's strength. Having said so I also salute the AEX board for taking all the efforts in reviving KART-161- Bravo guys.

We have also given a new dimension our publicity apart from our popular corporate quiz by organizing 'An evening with Dr. Shashi Tharoor' which was truly inspirational n enriching&also generated huge publicity for Areaiv- Thanx to CPRT-34 for organizing this event.

Fellowship has been a forte of our Area but this year it was at it's all time high. I for one thoroughly enjoyed the AEX organized by the Jamshedpur table-one of the best outbound fellowship we have had this year.

AC-Niraj u have really connected with each n every one in the Area, so do I say"u were there".Congratulations to u n ur team for raising bar of Areaiv.

All the best to AC-elect Niraj Dhote am sure u will live up to to the expectations of our Area.

Keep smiling guys- it's contagious.

Cheers-Sqleg Anirban Banerjee-NHT

Dear Friends,

It was in 2006 when I was introduced to the Tabling Movement by a dear friend, Ritesh Sarraf. The purpose – to make more friends – some who I already knew while others who I would eventually.

Today I can say that being a Tabler is a fulfillment in itself as it not only provides a platform and opportunity to do service to mankind and our society - but also get a chance to add value to our personal lives by way of making friends – friends who we would have never met otherwise – friends who we consider assets.

It's been a great year for Area IV under the Chairmanship of Tr. Neeraj Banka AST Neeraj Agarwal and his dynamic Team. Area IV has performed excellently on all facets of tabling this year.

Extension of a new Table in Kolkata after almost a decade I guess. We are above 300 in strength which is 1st time ever.

Fellowship: Almost all tables have done their fellowship event and it was at a high throughout the year. Inter Table fellowship has also been very good this year.

Projects: It was also a year of projects with Tables 12, 17, 34, 41, 53,106, 113 & 220 doing some great projects. Indeed very commendable of SRT 220 to have a done an FTE project in its very 1st Year of charter.

I have witnessed the best ones this year, personally I attended the Begumpur School by RT 41 with P&G, a matter of pride and the one at Sunderbans by RT 113, a self sufficient school with Kitchen facilities and solar power along with drinking water facilities for the entire village. These projects make us proud.

Publicity: Shashi Tharoor by Rt 34, Blind Rally by RT 41, Royal Bengal Quiz by RT 12 and Sparkle as usual did wonderfully well for the publicity.

It has been an absolute privilege and honour to be a part of Area IV and serve in whatever small way I could – and I am grateful to all my friends for supporting me in achieving this and being with me when I needed them.

I would like to congratulate Area Chairman Tr. Neeraj Banka and AST Tr. Neeraj Agarwal for an excellent year in office and thank them for making me a part of this esteemed Area. As the Area Chairman said “I will be there” he was seen almost everywhere at all Area Events and the places he was supposed to be !!!

I heartily convey my best wishes to Chairman Tr. Niraj Dhote and his team for the coming year ahead.

“Learn as if to Live forever and Live as if to Die Tomorrow”. Mahatma Gandhi

Friends,

At the outset, I would like to thank all the people who encouraged me to take up this coveted post of Area Secretary of Area IV. I consented not knowing what was there in store for me. Though apprehensive in the beginning, about whether I will be able to do justice to this esteemed post of AST which carries with it immense responsibilities, but Friends, believe me this was one of my best years in Tabling.

This year not only gave me an opportunity to network with Tablers across the area and connect with all the ASTs of all the 11 Areas of RTI, but helped me develop ever- lasting friendship and bonding with innumerable Tablers and Table Secretaries of Area IV. The RTI AST’s meet hosted by our NST Harish was a memorable two-day event where all ASTs of RT India gathered under one roof for a session of training and sharing, but ultimately turned out to be a fellowship bonanza.

I was a lucky AST to have 18 (now 20) turbo-charged Table Secretaries in my Area who kept filling my inbox with wonderfully drafted minutes and colorful reports. It was a pleasure sharing my experience and knowledge (gained during my days as a Table Secretary and Chairman at RT41) with all the Table secretaries and in turn, learning a thing or two from them. I also take this opportunity to thank all my Table Secretaries for being so cooperative and responsive. With such healthy reporting, blogging, sending articles for Table Talk, my head as an AST was always held high in pride for the work done by my Area and more so for the reporting that followed.Even luckier was I to have an Area Chairman Like Neeraj Banka, a person cool as a cucumber, ever encouraging and motivating. His motivating words and ‘Being There’ always kept the Area on a high throughout the year.

They say that “In Tabling you meet old friends for the first time”. This saying held absolutely true for me especially during my travels across the area where I received so much love, warmth and hospitality from all Tablers, some of whom I was meeting for the first time. This saying also proved itself true during my Tabling visit to Africa, where I was received with such love and affection as if I was an old, bosom friend.

Friends, these little experiences will stay with me forever andI will cherish these moments of Tabling spent with you all throughout my life. I have definitely got much more than what I ever thought I would give to the movement. I also take this opportunity to apologize for any of my remarks that may have hurt sentiments of anyone whomsoever.

Keep Smiling and Keep Shining,

Yours in Tabling,LMF Tr. Neeraj AgarwalAST Area IV RTI2011-12

Fellowship has always been the forte of Area IV. Like always, this year too, the Area had a plethora of Fellowship activities, both at Table level and at the Area level. With the super-charged Area Fellowship conveners Trs. Bunty Gupta & Pradyumna Agarwal (Kol) and Tr. Kunal Rawley & Tr. Mayank Jaiswal(outside Kol), fellowship at Area IV touched its peak.

Table fellowships saw myriad themes happening, ranging from Angels and Demons to Sardars, from Picnics and out-bounds to men’s cook-outs and from Mharo Rajasthan to South Indian. An increase in the frequency of Home-Socials and Terrace Parties was noticed which is a healthy trend and fosters greater bonding amongst Tablers and Circlers. The various themes organised by Tables this year are mentioned in a Table below.

Area Fellowship events saw unparalleled attendance this year at all the events. The Camaraderie amongst city and Area Tablers with healthy competition amongst all could be seen. With the Area having about 100 new Tablers joining In the past one year, these inter-table events gave them a unique opportunity to interact and network with Tablers of other city Tables, thereby increasing their reach of Friendship. Events listed below.

Projects: Convener Tr. Punit Parasramka.

Projects touched its Zenith at Area IV this year, with both FTE and Non-FTE projects touching new heights. A total of 70 classrooms at an outlay of more than Rs.2.5 crore were built this year, benefitting about 5000 under-privileged children. In Non-FTE, numerous worthy projects have been done by Tables across the Area. More than 100 community service projects were done in the RTI week alone. A list mentioning non-FTE projects done is given below and a chart summarizing the FTE scenario has been shown at the end of this section.

Round Table spread its wings by making a school in as far as Sundarbans, where there is no drinking water and electricity. This school built there by RT 113 has made provision for drinking water and Solar Power. Besides this, other major FTE projects include the RTI and P&G Pilot Project at Begumpur by RT 41(a landmark in itself), Chakla MSK & Nandipara MSK by RT34, joint FTE project by RT34 and RRT 194 (the first inter-city joint initiative) and Bagnan school by CART 12 serving about 1500 children. Schools have also been built by RT 53, 106, 160, 194 and 220 which will go a long way in spreading the light of education amongst the lesser privileged section of our society. Commendable is the effort of RT 220 Siliguri who have completed their 1st FTE project in their 1st year of inception.

Non-FTE projects undertaken by Tables:

· Independence Day projects which include distribution of Stationery, school bags, school dresses, shoes, mosquito nets, towels, bed sheets, umbrellas, sweets and food packets in good numbers to under-privileged children & aged people at various schools.

· RT 17 distributed Wheel Chairs at IICP and RT 113 distributed sports goods at the Hellen Keller institute.

Under the convenership of Tr. Vivek Mahansaria and under the able guidance of National Extension Convener Tr. Vikram Poddar, Area IV broke all previous records of Extensions, both Internal and External.

Internal Extensions saw being added to the fraternity.81 new Tablers

At External Extensions, we had one new Table Kolkata Victorians RT 227 being Chartered in Kolkata city after a gap of 10 years. This table was sponsored by Calcutta Metropolitan RT 41 with a strength of 20 new Tablers. Another table Bhubaneshwar Knights RT was inaugurated in Bhubaneshwar by Cuttack RT 137 with a strength of 14 new Tablers.

A positive trend is that the average age of Tablers in Area IV has come down over the years and with a young, vibrant and energetic Area IV, the future looks bright and promising with regard to Tabling and its growth.

A table showing table wise extension is shown below:

Fund-Raisers

Fund Raising at Area IV witnessed new heights this year with most Tables having fund raisers, big or small. It is said that Fund Raisers should be promoted not for the sole reason of raising project funds, but they act as wonderful learning experiences and foster great bonding amongst members. This was the spirit with which most Tables in Area IV carried out this facet.

“Barge Party” the Fund Raiser of CSRT 17 held on New Year’s eve was revived with much vigour and received excellent response.

“Corporate Cricket” A new fund raiser by CRT 4 - Cricket for a cause was initiated this year. “A Day with Shiv Khera” by Jamshedpur Green City RT 224. A fund raiser initiated in the their 1st

year of inception . These two new fund raisers not only garnered handsome funds, but also good publicity and goodwill amongst the corporate world.

“An Evening with Shashi Tharoor” the HRD Fund Raiser of CPRT 34 saw imminent personality Mr. Shashi Tharoor coming over to deliver his lecture amidst an August gathering of Tablers, Sponsors and guests at Hotel ITC Sonar Bangla.

RBCQ was held in its usual inimitable style at Hotel Hyatt with Derek O’ Brien as Quiz Master. A string of high profile companies from the corporate world and City Table teams took part in this most awaited event of Area IV.

Golf Tournament by CSRT 106 is another fund raiser that is growing both in popularity and magnitude.

“Project Sparkle” by CMRT 41, the mother of all fund raisers, surpassed previous levels and gave rich benefits to city Tables by way of commissions.

Diwali Crackers fund raiser was also carried out by BRT 53.

Motion:

"It is hereby proposed that the Area IV Area AGM Levy from all Area IV Tables be increased to Rs.10000/- per Table from the earlier Rs.4000/- per Table."

Motion proposed by AEX Area IV RTI and seconded by Trs. Rohit Bajaj (RT 34) & Manpreet Singh (RART 160)

Explanation: It was explained that with the rising costs it was now becoming difficult manage with only Rs.4000/- per Table as more amount of advance is required to be paid to the Convention Venue and other people vending at the AGM. Without adequate advance given well in advance, a good deal becomes difficult to negotiate with the convention authorities and other vendors. It was also impressed upon the point that with the growing strength of Tablers, more number of rooms needs to be blocked for which greater amount of money is required. Hence the AEX of Area IV proposes the above motion to be considered by the floor.

Bid for Area AGM 2013:

Bid to host the 34th Area AGM of Area IV, 2013, has been received from Calcutta Park Street Round Table 34.
