Recommendations received from the point of view of State officials and experts on the subject, as well as the perspective of the region’s children and the representatives of civil society organizations.

Leading to courses of action linked to national childhood systems, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their actions for the benefit of the comprehensive protection of children. At the same time, offering governments technical guidelines for public policy design.

World Report on Violence against Children

No form of violence against children is justifiable.All forms of violence against children can be prevented.Children should not receive less protection than adults. The States should invest in evidence-based policies and programmes to address the causal factors of violence against children.

The IIN will cooperate with CARICOM States in the organization of symposia or other events related to the Congress, in order to help raise awareness regarding the principal issue to be addressed at the Congress: violence against children.

These symposia/events will be organized together with the national liaison officers with whom the IIN has been cooperating, particularly in the areas of sexual exploitation and child participation.

BackgroundInter-American Cooperation Programme for the Prevention and

Eradication of Sexual Exploitation and Smuggling of and Trafficking in Children (CD/RES. 10 (82-R/07) adopted on the occasion of the Eighty-Second Regular Meeting held on 26 and 27 July 2007, Cartagena de Indias, Colombia).

AG / RES- 2432 (XXXVIII –O/08) – adopted on the occassion of the Thirty Eight General Assembly, held on 3 June 2008, Medellin, Colombia.

AG/RES. 2771 (XLIII-O/13) Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Exploitation and Smuggling of and Trafficking in Minors. – adopted during the 43rd General Assembly, held in La Antigua, Guatemala, in June 2013.

Work Area 1: The compilation and update of information regarding SEC in the region, to be made available to States Party.

Work Area 2: The generation of information and knowledge on the subject of SEC, which will aid States Party in the design and implementation of their policies and action in addressing this problem.

Work Area 3: Training human resources and providing specialized technical assistance to States Party.

Chile - Restitution of the rights of child victims of CSE (early detection and appropriate referral; protection provided for legal proceedings; child victim participation).

El Salvador - 1) Masculinity, sexuality and child abuse; 2) Client-exploiters; 3) Disabled children and adolescents and their increased exposure to sexual exploitation; 4) Social exclusion and the sexual exploitation of children.

Uruguay - nationwide legal tools; the judicial system; intervention in commercial sexual exploitation of children situations (detection and restitution); interinstitutional coordination.

Fourth Regional Meeting 2013 on “Prevention, Promotion and Restitution of Rights in the face of Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children in Travel and Tourism – Experiences for Reflection”, San Salvador -El Salvador.
