Annual Title I Parent Meeting Campbell Elementary School September 15, 2015 POP QUIZ What is Title I? A Federal Act created in Its goal is to improve academic achievement of the disadvantaged. This Act ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. How do schools qualify for Title I funds? Schools in which approximately 40% or more of their students are eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch qualify for these federal funds. Currently, Campbell serves 89% free and reduced students. How do we utilize our Title I funds? We receive about $ 360,000 annually to afford the following: 1 Parent liaison 3 additional teachers Reduce class sizes and provide more individualized instruction in 4 th grade. Science Lab Teacher Enriches learning opportunities with hand on activities in Science. Instructional Technology Teacher- Integrates technology into curriculum. Instructional materials Staff development Supplies and materials for the parent resource center Free breakfast to all students everyday Extended Day Title I School Requirements In order to continue to receive funds we must meet the following requirements: Create and implement a Parent/Student Compact and Parental Involvement Policy Provide Parental Rights/Notification of Highly Qualified Teacher Status Conduct Title I Planning and Yearly Meetings Collect/Manage documentation for meetings, activities, and daily schedules of teachers and staff members. Role of the School Counselor School counselors have a primary responsibility to ensure that counseling services and the educational program of the school consider the development of every student, including educational, vocational, personal and social development.
