(Gen. 2:25) The Fall distorted this Holy Mystery and removed our likeness with the Divine Being. Men and women no longer approach each other in order to offer themselves to one another completely. The boldness of innocence is replaced now with power plays, insecurities, lust and be- trayal. And yet, Jesus blessed the wedding at Cana in Galilee by performing there his very first miracle—turning water into wine. This sets the foundation for the renewed Christian mystery of Matrimony: since all of us, by being baptized in Christ have put on Christ, we can now invite Christ into our unions to restore the grace that made Ad- am and Eve innocent. The marriage of the Christian man and Christian woman is no longer a distorted union, but rather has the full force of the Genesis description: by the very Hand of God, man and woman are joined and be- come one Being. Christian matrimony is thus truly Trini- tarian: the man, the woman, and Christ. Christian mar- riage is not a compromise from holiness in order to per- petuate the species, but rather a truly Holy union with God. The water of the bodily union becomes the wine of living a life in Christ. Like all other Sacraments, Matrimony does not eliminate the possibility to fall and commit sin. But those who per- severe in humility can rise above the misery of the fallen world and experience the joy of Isaiah when he foresaw the coming of Christ. May the Lord grant us all that Joy! + Fr. Costin Of all the Holy Mysteries, Matrimo- ny is the oldest. It is, in fact, as old as humanity. When God created humanity in His own image, He created them man and woman, two complementary persons who offer themselves to one another, just like in the Holy Trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit offer them- selves to one another (Gen 1:26-27). Dear Parishioners
Summer is upon us a beautiful time in Newburyport and our Church community is buzzing with activity
We so enjoyed honoring Irene Katsoulis and Daphne Tikellis our 2017 ldquoParishioners of the Yearrdquo at the 31st
Annual Metropolis of Boston Ministry Awards Banquet held on June 11th Daphne and Irene who continue to
give their time and talent to the benefit of our Parish - are in fact grandchildren of an Annunciation Founding
Family Harry amp Panayiota Fotos The sisters are very well deserving honorees and remain an inspiration to us
My sincere appreciation to the dozens of Parishioners who have supported our efforts in preparation for our an-
nual Greek Food Festival (GFF) From participation in the planning meetings to the all-important workshops
preparing all our made-from-scratch delicacies to the myriad of pre-festival prep activities Gina Dussi has done
a masterful job of coordinating the workshop schedule and with sister Angela Tsopeles have purchased most of
the workshop supplies By combining the food prep workshops of the GFF and highly successful ldquoGyro Cartrdquo
under the leadership of John Tsakirgis the teams have been able to efficiently prepare the ldquomountainrdquo of deli-
cious food we serve during both these important Church endeavors
We are excited to announce that we will be enjoying the music of a live Greek band this year A two-piece band
Kefi Sounds will be performing at our GFF on Sat June 29 from 5-9 pm In addition this same band will be
performing near our Gyro Cart on Inn Street during Yankee Homecoming on Thurs Aug 3 from 6 to 8 pm
Our thanks to Tina Papadopoulos and John Tsakirgis for arranging this wonderful addition to the festivities

Our archdiocese has developed a family program called SOAK UP the SON Each week a new activity is presented so you and your family can stay in contact with God This is especially im-portant during the summer months when there are no Sunday School classes You can access SOAK UP the SON from this

Summer at St Basilrsquos Ministries
Now that we are finally enjoying some summer weather we are all thinking about vacations cookouts and all the fun activities that come with the great weather Saint Basilrsquos Ministries offers its Monday Meal to all those who enter our church doors The need for a hot meal or for companionship is constant it knows no season This ministry belongs to everyone at Annunciation Church Consider coming just one Monday to help out The children of the parish are welcome to come and help too Every-one can participate
Cleaning out those closets Saint Basilrsquos Ministries works directly with the Lighthouse Thrift Shop in Salisbury We will take any bags of clothing or household items you bring to church to the thrift shop for you These donations get sold in the shop and the proceeds go to area charities
Food Pantry Needs We do operate a small food pantry for our guests or anyone in need Most of the food in the pantry comes from donations we receive from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Our great need is for small personal items like wrapped bars of soap shampoo tooth paste deodorants and other per-sonal care items Of course we are grateful for food donations also

On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for

Saint Basilrsquos Ministries
We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

Dear Parishioners
Summer is upon us a beautiful time in Newburyport and our Church community is buzzing with activity
We so enjoyed honoring Irene Katsoulis and Daphne Tikellis our 2017 ldquoParishioners of the Yearrdquo at the 31st
Annual Metropolis of Boston Ministry Awards Banquet held on June 11th Daphne and Irene who continue to
give their time and talent to the benefit of our Parish - are in fact grandchildren of an Annunciation Founding
Family Harry amp Panayiota Fotos The sisters are very well deserving honorees and remain an inspiration to us
My sincere appreciation to the dozens of Parishioners who have supported our efforts in preparation for our an-
nual Greek Food Festival (GFF) From participation in the planning meetings to the all-important workshops
preparing all our made-from-scratch delicacies to the myriad of pre-festival prep activities Gina Dussi has done
a masterful job of coordinating the workshop schedule and with sister Angela Tsopeles have purchased most of
the workshop supplies By combining the food prep workshops of the GFF and highly successful ldquoGyro Cartrdquo
under the leadership of John Tsakirgis the teams have been able to efficiently prepare the ldquomountainrdquo of deli-
cious food we serve during both these important Church endeavors
We are excited to announce that we will be enjoying the music of a live Greek band this year A two-piece band
Kefi Sounds will be performing at our GFF on Sat June 29 from 5-9 pm In addition this same band will be
performing near our Gyro Cart on Inn Street during Yankee Homecoming on Thurs Aug 3 from 6 to 8 pm
Our thanks to Tina Papadopoulos and John Tsakirgis for arranging this wonderful addition to the festivities

Our archdiocese has developed a family program called SOAK UP the SON Each week a new activity is presented so you and your family can stay in contact with God This is especially im-portant during the summer months when there are no Sunday School classes You can access SOAK UP the SON from this

Summer at St Basilrsquos Ministries
Now that we are finally enjoying some summer weather we are all thinking about vacations cookouts and all the fun activities that come with the great weather Saint Basilrsquos Ministries offers its Monday Meal to all those who enter our church doors The need for a hot meal or for companionship is constant it knows no season This ministry belongs to everyone at Annunciation Church Consider coming just one Monday to help out The children of the parish are welcome to come and help too Every-one can participate
Cleaning out those closets Saint Basilrsquos Ministries works directly with the Lighthouse Thrift Shop in Salisbury We will take any bags of clothing or household items you bring to church to the thrift shop for you These donations get sold in the shop and the proceeds go to area charities
Food Pantry Needs We do operate a small food pantry for our guests or anyone in need Most of the food in the pantry comes from donations we receive from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Our great need is for small personal items like wrapped bars of soap shampoo tooth paste deodorants and other per-sonal care items Of course we are grateful for food donations also

On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for
our historical presentation If you have any information please

Saint Basilrsquos Ministries
We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

Dear Parishioners
Summer is upon us a beautiful time in Newburyport and our Church community is buzzing with activity
We so enjoyed honoring Irene Katsoulis and Daphne Tikellis our 2017 ldquoParishioners of the Yearrdquo at the 31st
Annual Metropolis of Boston Ministry Awards Banquet held on June 11th Daphne and Irene who continue to
give their time and talent to the benefit of our Parish - are in fact grandchildren of an Annunciation Founding
Family Harry amp Panayiota Fotos The sisters are very well deserving honorees and remain an inspiration to us
My sincere appreciation to the dozens of Parishioners who have supported our efforts in preparation for our an-
nual Greek Food Festival (GFF) From participation in the planning meetings to the all-important workshops
preparing all our made-from-scratch delicacies to the myriad of pre-festival prep activities Gina Dussi has done
a masterful job of coordinating the workshop schedule and with sister Angela Tsopeles have purchased most of
the workshop supplies By combining the food prep workshops of the GFF and highly successful ldquoGyro Cartrdquo
under the leadership of John Tsakirgis the teams have been able to efficiently prepare the ldquomountainrdquo of deli-
cious food we serve during both these important Church endeavors
We are excited to announce that we will be enjoying the music of a live Greek band this year A two-piece band
Kefi Sounds will be performing at our GFF on Sat June 29 from 5-9 pm In addition this same band will be
performing near our Gyro Cart on Inn Street during Yankee Homecoming on Thurs Aug 3 from 6 to 8 pm
Our thanks to Tina Papadopoulos and John Tsakirgis for arranging this wonderful addition to the festivities

ria Connor who volunteered to clean-up and organize the trash amp recycling area adjacent to Nicholson Hall

Our archdiocese has developed a family program called SOAK UP the SON Each week a new activity is presented so you and your family can stay in contact with God This is especially im-portant during the summer months when there are no Sunday School classes You can access SOAK UP the SON from this

Summer at St Basilrsquos Ministries
Now that we are finally enjoying some summer weather we are all thinking about vacations cookouts and all the fun activities that come with the great weather Saint Basilrsquos Ministries offers its Monday Meal to all those who enter our church doors The need for a hot meal or for companionship is constant it knows no season This ministry belongs to everyone at Annunciation Church Consider coming just one Monday to help out The children of the parish are welcome to come and help too Every-one can participate
Cleaning out those closets Saint Basilrsquos Ministries works directly with the Lighthouse Thrift Shop in Salisbury We will take any bags of clothing or household items you bring to church to the thrift shop for you These donations get sold in the shop and the proceeds go to area charities
Food Pantry Needs We do operate a small food pantry for our guests or anyone in need Most of the food in the pantry comes from donations we receive from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Our great need is for small personal items like wrapped bars of soap shampoo tooth paste deodorants and other per-sonal care items Of course we are grateful for food donations also

On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for
our historical presentation If you have any information please

Saint Basilrsquos Ministries
We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

We have such an active Parish and Irsquom inspired by the energy creativity and passion of our Parishioners and
what we as a small Parish family are able to accomplish Two of our ldquounsung herosrdquo are Eric Hansen and Ma-
ria Connor who volunteered to clean-up and organize the trash amp recycling area adjacent to Nicholson Hall
Take a look ndash the area has never looked (nor smelled) better Also our continued thanks to Jim Patrick who
faithfully keeps our outdoor Church grounds and gardens looking tidy and well-maintained

Sunday School Updates
Our archdiocese has developed a family program called SOAK UP the SON Each week a new activity is presented so you and your family can stay in contact with God This is especially im-portant during the summer months when there are no Sunday School classes You can access SOAK UP the SON from this

Summer at St Basilrsquos Ministries
Now that we are finally enjoying some summer weather we are all thinking about vacations cookouts and all the fun activities that come with the great weather Saint Basilrsquos Ministries offers its Monday Meal to all those who enter our church doors The need for a hot meal or for companionship is constant it knows no season This ministry belongs to everyone at Annunciation Church Consider coming just one Monday to help out The children of the parish are welcome to come and help too Every-one can participate
Cleaning out those closets Saint Basilrsquos Ministries works directly with the Lighthouse Thrift Shop in Salisbury We will take any bags of clothing or household items you bring to church to the thrift shop for you These donations get sold in the shop and the proceeds go to area charities
Food Pantry Needs We do operate a small food pantry for our guests or anyone in need Most of the food in the pantry comes from donations we receive from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Our great need is for small personal items like wrapped bars of soap shampoo tooth paste deodorants and other per-sonal care items Of course we are grateful for food donations also

FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION TO KICK
OFF 100TH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION OF THE CHURCH
On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for
our historical presentation If you have any information please

Annunciation Meals Ministry
Jen Jansen is our meals ministry coordinator This program helps us feed our own parish families when unusual needs arise All details are on the website sign up By using the website we are able to keep track of when meals will be pro-vided with no overlapping deliveries of meals This really helps the receiving family so they dont get an overload one day and nothing on another day If you have questions please contact Jen Jansen Contact info and the website

Saint Basilrsquos Ministries
We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

It seems that everyone is so busy these days So many tasks so many obligations and then you remember the need to have a tray of koliva for the memorial service of a loved one You can make it yourself There are recipes available to teach you how But maybe you donrsquot want to take this on Daphne Tikellis is now available to make the koliva for you You can call Daphne at 978-270-6089 to arrange for your koliva tray The cost is $150 per tray

Our archdiocese has developed a family program called SOAK UP the SON Each week a new activity is presented so you and your family can stay in contact with God This is especially im-portant during the summer months when there are no Sunday School classes You can access SOAK UP the SON from this

Summer at St Basilrsquos Ministries
Now that we are finally enjoying some summer weather we are all thinking about vacations cookouts and all the fun activities that come with the great weather Saint Basilrsquos Ministries offers its Monday Meal to all those who enter our church doors The need for a hot meal or for companionship is constant it knows no season This ministry belongs to everyone at Annunciation Church Consider coming just one Monday to help out The children of the parish are welcome to come and help too Every-one can participate
Cleaning out those closets Saint Basilrsquos Ministries works directly with the Lighthouse Thrift Shop in Salisbury We will take any bags of clothing or household items you bring to church to the thrift shop for you These donations get sold in the shop and the proceeds go to area charities
Food Pantry Needs We do operate a small food pantry for our guests or anyone in need Most of the food in the pantry comes from donations we receive from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Our great need is for small personal items like wrapped bars of soap shampoo tooth paste deodorants and other per-sonal care items Of course we are grateful for food donations also

OFF 100TH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION OF THE CHURCH
On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for

We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

and throughout 2018 We want to ldquodo it rightrdquo and as you can imagine this takes a significant amount of plan-

planning monthly activities ndash beginning with a ldquoFounders Dayrdquo celebration and brunch in Dec 2017 Please

each monthly event will have a team of people to lead and coordinate We are all capable of contributing in ways

We have such an active Parish and Irsquom inspired by the energy creativity and passion of our Parishioners and
what we as a small Parish family are able to accomplish Two of our ldquounsung herosrdquo are Eric Hansen and Ma-
ria Connor who volunteered to clean-up and organize the trash amp recycling area adjacent to Nicholson Hall
Take a look ndash the area has never looked (nor smelled) better Also our continued thanks to Jim Patrick who
faithfully keeps our outdoor Church grounds and gardens looking tidy and well-maintained

Our archdiocese has developed a family program called SOAK UP the SON Each week a new activity is presented so you and your family can stay in contact with God This is especially im-portant during the summer months when there are no Sunday School classes You can access SOAK UP the SON from this

Summer at St Basilrsquos Ministries
Now that we are finally enjoying some summer weather we are all thinking about vacations cookouts and all the fun activities that come with the great weather Saint Basilrsquos Ministries offers its Monday Meal to all those who enter our church doors The need for a hot meal or for companionship is constant it knows no season This ministry belongs to everyone at Annunciation Church Consider coming just one Monday to help out The children of the parish are welcome to come and help too Every-one can participate
Cleaning out those closets Saint Basilrsquos Ministries works directly with the Lighthouse Thrift Shop in Salisbury We will take any bags of clothing or household items you bring to church to the thrift shop for you These donations get sold in the shop and the proceeds go to area charities
Food Pantry Needs We do operate a small food pantry for our guests or anyone in need Most of the food in the pantry comes from donations we receive from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Our great need is for small personal items like wrapped bars of soap shampoo tooth paste deodorants and other per-sonal care items Of course we are grateful for food donations also

CELEBRATION OF THE CHURCH
On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for
our historical presentation If you have any information please

We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

It seems that everyone is so busy these days So many tasks so many obligations and then you remember the need to have a tray of koliva for the memorial service of a loved one You can make it yourself There are recipes available to teach you how But maybe you donrsquot want to take this on Daphne Tikellis is now available to make the koliva for you You can call Daphne at 978-270-6089 to arrange for your koliva tray The cost is $150 per tray

FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION TO KICK
OFF 100TH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION OF THE CHURCH
On Sunday December 10 2017 Annunciation Church will hon-
or the founding family members of our beloved Church 100
years ago A Memorial Service will be held following Divine Lit-
urgy and then all are invited to a Founders Day Brunch in Ni-
cholson Hall The oldest descendants of those founding family
members will be given special honors and a short presentation
will be given on the beginnings of our beloved Church We are
also asking for any pictures or documents that we may utilize for
our historical presentation If you have any information please
contact Tina Papadopoulos at 617-828-7543 Much more is being
planned so please keep that date open

Jen Jansen is our meals ministry coordinator This program helps us feed our own parish families when unusual needs arise All details are on the website sign up By using the website we are able to keep track of when meals will be pro-vided with no overlapping deliveries of meals This really helps the receiving family so they dont get an overload one day and nothing on another day If you have questions please contact Jen Jansen Contact info and the website

We Need YOU Our Home Cooks program has resumed one or two Sundays a month Home Cooks prepare one pan of the entreacutee of the week We usually look for 8 people to each take a pan and that will create a meal that will be served to anyone who comes to our free Monday Meal in St Basilrsquos Hall Ruth Riley will have a recipe and a pan so each home cook can participate in preparing the following weekrsquos meal If you would like to help occasionally with this ministry please see Ruth Riley

It seems that everyone is so busy these days So many tasks so many obligations and then you remember the need to have a tray of koliva for the memorial service of a loved one You can make it yourself There are recipes available to teach you how But maybe you donrsquot want to take this on Daphne Tikellis is now available to make the koliva for you You can call Daphne at 978-270-6089 to arrange for your koliva tray The cost is $150 per tray
