DIRECTOR'S COMMENT ANOTHER DAY was born in a strange way. One night I was looking at the rain from the window,
and I thought how lonely one drop of water could feel, with the cold, with the wind, during all its
brief life. Then I saw an image: a mirror in the bathroom, and the face of a young girl reflected in
it. She was feeling sick and was looking at herself shocked, without knowing why. I didn't really
understand what was the link between the girl and the water was, but at the very end I realized
that the drop, as human life, was simply showing its essence as a CYCLE, as a circle, in other words
as a completed journey towards the end.
Dana is forced to make a decision, actually the most important decision of her life. And although
she has already made up her mind (to end the life she is carrying inside), something changes (as
unpredictably as a drop outside the window does). A brief journey through the city and through
her mind, will tell Dana something different about "water" and about "life".
ANOTHER DAY is a film on the power and the necessity of making a decision, and on the
possibility that the right decision could always be the wrong one.
SYNOPSIS
A young girl recently moved to New York City discovers that she is pregnant. Her name is Dana.
She is scared and lonely in that place and bad memories come to her mind, so that she becomes
determined not to keep the baby. But something happens, and her previous certainty is no longer.
CAST BIOS
MATHIA VARGAS – (Dana) Mathia Vargas was born and raised in New York City, the daughter of immigrant parents from the
Dominican Republic. Her first foray into theatre was workshopping with a children's musical
theatre company in NYC called TADA. She maintained an interest in acting and took it up again as
a hobby and minor at the University at Albany while working on her Bachelor of Science in Human
Biology. Her hobby soon turned into a passion. In 2008 She was cast as the lead in her first ever
full production and was nominated for an Irene Ryan award for her performance. Since then she
was snagging lead and supporting roles in the University's main productions and festivals. Upon
completing her degree in Human Biology in 2010, she returned to NYC to pursue a career in acting.
In the short time since her return she has been cast in a number of short films in both leading and

FILMAKER'S BIO CHIARA ARMENTANO – Writer – Director -‐ Editor Chiara Armentano was born in Puglia (South Italy) in 1981.
She started studying film at Bologna University in 1999 (DAMS), where she graduated in 2004 with
a thesis entitled "David Lynch and the Postmodern Expressionismus." In 2005 she was enrolled in
the Ph.D program in Film Studies at the same University with a dissertation entitled "Postmodern
Elements in American Horror Film: Cultural and Textual Forms of the Mutation (1968-‐1998)". She
completed her research studying in the United States. With a grant from Bologna University, she
frequented the Film Department at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), and the School of
Cinematic Arts at USC (University of Southern California). In 2009 she was the First Assistant
Director for the short film "I Lavoratori del mare" (directed by Mimmo de Ceglia) set in South Italy.
On that set she discovered her passion for film production, and her debut as a director was with a
brief documentary about a small no-‐profit organization called "Le Macerie – Baracche Ribelli" (The
Rubble), in May 2010. In August 2010 she directed "Wake" with her collegue Jason Filmore. The
film won the award as BEST EXPERIMENTAL FILM at the Mountain Film Festival, in Los Angeles
(CA). "Wake" was selected in many other festivals all over the world (Readymade Film Festival,
Cyprus International Film Festival, San Gio' Verona Video Festival, Ozu International Film Festival,
from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C. to Italy, and Cyprus).
"Another Day", is Chiara's second short film. It tells the imaginary story of a young woman after
discovering her pregnancy. This is a more ambitious film shot in NYC during the cold winter of
2011. It is currently in the circuit of the festival in Europe and in the US.

STEFANO CIAMMARONI -‐ producer
Stefano Ciammaroni was born in Rome, Italy. He started studying film theory, history and criticism
at the University of Rome (La Sapienza) in 1996, but two years later he decided to move to the US
to complete his education. He attended New York University (NYU), where he earned a BFA, an
MA, and recently a Ph.D. His dissertation narrates the history of Italian cinema by the light of its
evolving imaginary of violence and death, from the dawn of the antifascist Resistance in 1943 to
the explosion of political terrorism in the late 1970s. He published several essays, mainly in
international Journals (Brazil and Poland), and he is now working on turning his dissertation into a
book, while teaching film history at the University of Manchester -‐ Metropolitan.
In 2010, Stefano spent the summer in L.A. where he was inspired to pursue a passion for film
production that he had been secretly nurturing since he started shooting with an ancient video
camera at age thirteen. For "Wake," Chiara Armentano's first film shot in 16mm, he worked as
production manager, but his creative contributions to refining the script were very helpful for the
filmmakers. His main interest, though, is with the art of cinematography.
In the project for the short film "Another Day" Stefano has trusted since the beginning. He is the
producer (with the company he found, "Fidelio Productions") who has financed, inspired, made
possible this short film.
DAVID DIAZ -‐ cinematographer
David Diaz is a photographer, cinematographer, director and amateur of ancient languages as
Latin and Greek. His variety of interests goes from traveling, to poetry, reading, studying American
and Italian literature. He studied communications in New York City but immediately started
making short films with his camera and some friends. Then he took several classes in filmmaking
(DFA, NYFA) before starting to shot music videos, spots and commercials for small companies in
the city. When he knew Chiara Armentano, in 2010, he wanted to experience for the first time a
DSLR camera of the last generation. "Another Day" was shot with a Canon 7D, and from there on
David keeps being a cinematographer (mainly shooting with that same camera!) for many young
and independent filmmakers in the area of New York City, where he lives.
Some of his words, regarding what he believes, for life and in general for his career:
"An observer at heart, I tend to perceive life, philosophically. I find something sincere about
cinematography. To express an outward impression of the inward, is highly intriguing to me. I have
not studied film in full spectrum, academically. Rather, I study life and try to translate it
artificially…As art tends to be portrayed."
