SITRANS P300
The SITRANS P300 offers measuring pre-cision and ruggedness, and advanced oper-ation. The SITRANS P300 was designed forthe food and beverage industry as well aspharmaceutical processes. It is an integralcomponent of the SITRANS P family becauseof its 0.075 % accuracy, a hygienic stainlesssteel housing with lasered rating plate, andthe proven SITRANS P DS III local operatingphilosophy.
Cleaning (CIP) and sterilization (SIP) of theprocess volume during measuring modeare handled without drift at a specifiedtemperature of 150 °C (302 °F). The usercan monitor the cleaning process usingthe drag pointers which record the min./max. values of the sensor temperature.You can read the process data via a HART,PROFIBUS PA or Fieldbus Foundationinterface. The SITRANS P300 is availablecombined with absolute or relativepressure measuring cells. The range ofprocess connections are available for thefood and beverage, pharmaceutical, andpaper industries, including threaded andflanged versions.

SITRANS P MPS
Convenient hydrostatic level measurement.
SITRANS P transmitter, MPS series, is usedfor hydrostatic level measurements. It isimmersed in the measured medium connec-ted by a cable. The sensor has a stainlesssteel enclosure and is suitable for applica-tions ranging from drinking water to cor-rosive liquids.
SITRANS P Z
The single-range transmitter for relativeand absolute pressures.
Two types of pressure sensor are used inthe Z Series: a stainless steel sensor and asensor with ceramic diaphragm. An optionfor the Z Series meets the requirementsof the compressor and pump industry byusing a brass enclosure.
SITRANS P ZD
Transmitter with digital display and stain-less steel enclosure.
The SITRANS P ZD digital pressure trans-mitter is provided with a display and a 10:1turndown. The enclosure and the processconnection are stainless steel. The digitaldisplay is available either radially or axiallyto the process connection.
SITRANS P Compact
For the special requirements of the foodand beverage, pharmaceutical and bio-technology industries.
The design corresponds to the hygiene re-quirements of EHEDG, FDA, and GMP. Theincreased hygiene demands are satisfiedby a range of aseptic stainless steel pro-cess connections as well as stainless steelhousing. Cleaning and sterilization proce-dures (CIP, SIP) are standard practice.

Within a range from 1mbar to 400bar,the SITRANS P DS III works well even withextreme chemical and mechanical loadsor electromagnetic influences. It offersadditional safety functions such as plantand self-monitoring, fault diagnostics andprovides maintenance messages advisingwhen the next calibration is due. Theself-test function is unique for fail-safeoperation. Measuring cells can be quicklyand easily replaced so that on-site repairsare fast, simple and cost-effective. Inaddition to convenient local operation,SITRANS P transmitters can be connectedto networks using the PROFIBUS PA,Foundation Fieldbus, or HART protocol.
SITRANS P DS III is designed for nominalpressures up to PN 420. The wetted partsare available in stainless steel, Tantalum,Hastelloy®, Monel®, or gold plated.Explosion-proof versions are also available.The high safety level is documented byglobally recognized certificates, includingATEX, SIL, CENELEC, FM, CSA, NEPSI. It istested according to the NAMUR guidelines.Many different versions of remote seals areavailable.
Adjust the zero, span, damping and otherfunctions using three pushbuttons and thelarge, freely-programmable display.
The versatility required for every applica-tion is integral in the SITRANS P. Whethermanual or HART operation, or operationvia SIMATIC Process Device Manager (PDM),everything is possible.
Remote seals
The measuring possibilities of the SITRANS Pline are extended by a wide range of re-mote seals. These seals are used whenmeasuring hot, corrosive, highly viscous,or crystallizing material. The followingtypes of remote seals are available:

Guided Wave Radar
Guided wave radar uses Time Domain Re-flectometry (TDR) to measure level byguiding an electromagnetic pulse down aprobe (solid steel rod, steel cable or coaxialcable) toward the material. When the pulsereaches the material surface, the change indielectric value between air and the ma-terial causes a portion of the pulse to reflectback toward the transmitter. Guided waveradar is unaffected by vapor, density, foam,dielectric fluctuations, temperature, andpressure changes, and works well for shortand medium-range measurements.

Acoustic sensors for pumpmonitoring
Even smallest leakages on delivery valvesof oscillating positive displacement pumps(e.g. piston pumps) can be detected bymeasuring cavitation. The acoustic diag-nostic device SITRANS DA400 consists ofcavitation sensors and an analyzer unitwhich supplies the sensors with electricalenergy and detects, filters and evaluatesthe measured signal and outputs an alarmsignal on exceeding a defined limit value.
Acoustic sensors for materialflow monitoring
The SITRANS AS 100 acoustic sensor de-tects high frequency acoustic emissionsfrom friction or the impact of dust, pow-ders, granules and other solids in motion.It signals flow/no flow or high/low flow. HART – field communication protocol
The HART® communication standard iswidely used for field devices. HART devicesare defined by the HCF (HART Communi-cation Foundation). The HART standardextends analog 4 to 20 mA signals to mo-dulated, industry-quality, digital HART sig-nals. The advantage is the combination oftried-and-tested analog measurement-value transfer and simultaneous digitalcommunication with bi-directional, acyc-lic transfer. This allows transfer of diag-nostics, maintenance and process infor-mation from field devices to higher-levelsystems. Standardized parameter sets canbe used for the non-proprietary operationof all HART devices.
HART device descriptions (EDD) are usedto integrate HART devices into the SIMATICPDM.
This ensures simple operation and com-missioning of field devices, even in in-accessible locations.
SIMATIC PDM
SIMATIC PDM (Process Device Manager) isa universal, non-proprietary tool for the con-figuration, parameterization, commission-ing, diagnostics and maintenance of intelli-gent field devices (sensors and actuators)and field components (remote I/Os, multi-plexers, control room devices, compactregulators).
Over 1,200 process devices from morethan 100 manufacturers are supported bySIMATIC PDM. The design and functionof the devices can be described using theElectronic Device Description Language(EDDL), based on the leading EDD inter-national standard (Electronic DeviceDescription; IEC 61804).
SIMATIC PDM uses this to automaticallycreate an easy-to-use interface providingthe required information on the processdevices. The extension and standardizationof the EDDL into Enhancement Levels 1and 2 means a wide range of importantfunctions are available in the EDD, includ-ing the OPC unified architecture.
Communication with process devices is byHART, PROFIBUS or alternative protocols.SIMATIC PDM can be used as a non-proprie-tary parameterization tool as well as in theintegrated version in the SIMATIC Step7/PCS 7 environment.
SIMATIC PDM meets both requirements inthe field as well as those for a central en-gineering system and centralized serviceand maintenance.

Asset Management
Asset Management comprises all activitiesand measures designed to maintain or in-crease the value of a plant. This primarilyincludes value-enhancing service andmaintenance (plant-specific asset man-agement) in addition to business manage-ment, process management and processoptimization. SIMATIC PDM is particularlysuited to plant-specific asset managementwith its comprehensive functionality forconfiguration, parameterization, com-missioning, diagnostics and maintenanceof intelligent field devices and compo-nents. To deliver detailed and reliable re-sults, asset management systems requirea large amount of basic information.
SIMATIC PDM can provide the device datarequired for plant-specific asset manage-ment and transfer it to higher-level assetmanagement systems in XML format via auniform interface. It is based on the devicedescriptions (EDD) that are independentof the operating system. Extraction of in-formation and interpretation of results areindependent of the type of device, so it isirrelevant whether the device is an actuatoror a sensor, a PROFIBUS or a HART device.However, SIMATIC PDM is much more thanjust a data logger for higher-level asset man-agement systems. It offers a wide range ofasset management functions as well.
PROFIBUS
Decentralized automation solutions basedon open field buses are currently standardin many areas of the production and pro-cess industry. The benefits of digital com-munication can only be fully exploited incombination with field buses, includingimproved resolution of measurement val-ues, diagnostics options and remote para-meterization.
PROFIBUS is currently the most successfulopen field bus, providing a flexible plat-form for a variety of applications. Based onthe IEC 61158 standard, it is a reliable in-vestment and suitable for fast communica-tion in production and process automation.It is the first field bus and meets the re-quirements of both sectors with the samecommunication performance.
PROFIBUS PA is tailored to the requirementsof the process industry, handling both thepower supply for the devices and commu-nication between the devices and higher-level systems.
PROFIBUS PA is intrinsically safe and can beused in hazardous areas.
Foundation Fieldbus
Field devices for measuring pressure andtemperature and actuators are also avail-able for the intrinsically safe FF bus. Com-munication via FF is also based on the EDDstandard and thus also offers the benefitsof digital communication.
